Adler's milestone String Quartet No. 10 was composed for the Cassatt String Quartet for performance at the Bowdoin International Music Festival's 50th Anniversary season in 2014. Built in a single movement of contrasting sections, Adler's 10th will continue to be featured in upcoming concerts by the Cassatt Quartet, including a performance in Beijing in July. The String Quartet No. 10 was written in 2013 for the 50th anniversary of the Bowdoin International Summer Music Festival and is dedicated to the Cassatt Quartet who premiered the work during the 50th anniversary celebration in July 2014.  The work was written with a generous grant from the Fromm Music Foundation. The 10th String Quartet is in one continuous movement but divided into four sections.  The first section is a slow introduction which presents the basic harmonic material of the entire work.  This is suddenly interrupted by a very agitated movement forming a great contrast to the calm of the beginning.  This rhythmic drive comes to a stop and is relieved by the third section which is a variation of the beginning, but is a bit longer and more developed.  This is followed by the final section which again captures the agitation of the second section and brings the work to a wild and most aggressive end.—Samuel Adler. $46.99 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks
| String Quartets Volume 2 String Quartet: 2 violins, viola, cello G. Henle
String Quartet (Study Score) SKU: HL.51487121 Early Viennese Quartets ...(+)
String Quartet (Study Score) SKU: HL.51487121 Early Viennese Quartets Study Score. Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Edited by Wolf-Dieter Seiffert. Henle Music Folios. Classical. Softcover. G. Henle #HN7121. Published by G. Henle (HL.51487121). UPC: 840126946178. 6.75x9.5x0.299 inches. After Volumes IV and III of the series with Mozart's complete string quartets appeared as Henle Urtext editions in early 2017 and 2019 respectively, Mozart expert Wolf-Dieter Seiffert now presents Volume II. Included are the “Early Viennese Quartets†from 1773, K. 168-173. Entries in the autograph manuscript by the composer's father Leopold, however, suggest that the ordering of the six works into a unified series of quartets was his doing. In his preface, Wolf-Dieter Seiffert shares brand-new findings on the actual chronology of the genesis of these quartets. Moreover, he succeeds in correcting what in prior editions were occasional inaccuracies in dynamics and articulation, thereby producing a new, assured musical text. With artistic input from the Armida Quartet, Volume II of the String Quartets also sets the benchmark in the Mozart Edition! Contents: String Quartet in F Major, K. 168 String Quartet in A Major, K. 169 String Quartet in C Major, K. 170 String Quartet in E-flat Major, K. 171 String Quartet in B-flat Major, K. 172 String Quartet in D minor, K. 173. SKU: AP.1-ADV6401 For String Quartet. Composed by Mike Curtis. Quartet; Solo Small Ensembles; String Quartet. Advance Music. Form: Dance. Jewish Heritage; Wedding. Score and Part(s). Advance Music #01-ADV6401. Published by Advance Music (AP.1-ADV6401). UPC: 805095064018. English. A Klezmer Wedding is a set of four dances, newly-composed but based on traditional models. The Doina is an expressive chant for three successive soloists; it twists and turns with the wailing lament of a shepherd's pipe. Next follows the Hora, a slow Rumanian dance in three with a mood that reflects the wedding's solemn vows. A Chusidl, with a moderate speed and bouncy rhythms, gets the party to the dance floor. The concluding Freylach (happy, but still in a minor key!) takes the bride, groom, and guests to the edge of frenzy.

| Wash Rag for String Quartet String Quartet: 2 violins, viola, cello - Easy LudwigMasters Publications

String Quartet - Grade 3 SKU: AP.36-52703617 Composed by Alan Shulman. This edition: Latham Music. Quartet; Solo Small Ensembles; String - Quartet. LudwigMasters - Latham Music. Book. LudwigMasters Publications #36-52703617. Published by LudwigMasters Publications (AP.36-52703617). UPC: 735816385521. English. This humorous little vignette for string quartet was composed in 1979 and was originally intended to be published by Piedmont Music, the ASCAP division of EB Marks Classical. For reasons unknown, however, it remained in manuscript form until 2021, when a copy of the composer's autograph parts was discovered in the archives of a completely different Alan Shulman piece. This newly engraved Latham Music edition therefore represents the first publication of Shulman's delightful work, as well as the first full score. As the title suggests, this is a medium-slow rag, or cakewalk in a loose AABA form. The bluesy and graceful main melody is introduced by the first violin in a call and response exchange with the rest of the ensemble. The restatement of the primary theme is led by the second violin, with the entire ensemble playing pizzicato, having the effect of playful mockery. In the B section, the first violin earnestly reasserts the stately grace from the opening however, the cello is clearly becoming restless and decides to take over the lead just before the final reprise. The lighthearted ending again has the first violin doing its best to bring the tune to a refined conclusion, but the rest of the group still has mischief in mind. After a couple moments of seeming confusion, the ensemble regroups at last and plays the final riff with resolute emphasis. If you're looking to add a light moment to a recital program, or looking for a short, medium level contest piece that players and audiences alike will enjoy, this little miniature is an ideal choice! These products are currently being prepared by a new publisher. While many items are ready and will ship on time, some others may see delays of several months. $8.95 - See more - Buy online

| Sardinian Songbook String Quartet: 2 violins, viola, cello Breitkopf & Härtel
String Quartet SKU: BR.EB-9271 Composed by Christian Mason. Chamber music...(+)
String Quartet SKU: BR.EB-9271 Composed by Christian Mason. Chamber music. Edition Breitkopf. New music (post-2000); Music post-1945. Sheet Music. Composed 2018. Duration 21'. Breitkopf and Haertel #EB 9271. Published by Breitkopf and Haertel (BR.EB-9271). ISBN 9790004185711. 0 x 0 inches. I fell in love with the remarkable singing of the Tenores di Bitti on hearing their recordings as a student. Their uniquely intense vocal timbre, their harmony, which seemed pure and rough at once, and the sense that this music was, at root, not so much about performance as simply being together in the world, in a community of spirit. At the time, I had no intention of using this music to my own creative ends, but now, here we are: Sardinian Songbook is the second in a cycle of works for the Ligeti Quartet, all based on transcriptions of music from different throat-singing traditions. Like string quartets, the tenores usually sing in groups of four voices, but being free from instruments they stand very close together enabling the resonances of their voices to blend and interact in a special way. The quartet, of course, can only sit so close before their bows clash, so I have chosen instead to reflect this physical closeness inversely, by getting the players to stand increasingly far from one another as the piece progresses. In so doing, the initial state of sonic blend gives way to hocketing lines, opening up the sense of space.Christian Mason, 2018 The four movements may be played separately or as a collection. If played together the following order should be observed (see table of contents).
World premiere: Sheffield/UK, Firth Hall, April 14, 2018, Commissioned by Ligeti Quartet. $42.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 3 to 4 weeks
