First version, first performed in Weimar around 1713 by J. S. Bach; from Bach's music library. Third version available under 35.502/00. Version of a performance at the Weimar court from around 1713 by J.S. Bach; from his library of music. It has been proven that J. S. Bach studied the St. Mark Passion of Reinhard Keiser frequently and intensively. At least three performances of this work verify this fact. A new Carus edition presents the 'Weimar' version, since the material is almost complete. Keiser's Passion is well suited for 'normal' conditions, with regard to length, difficulty and scoring. In every respect a rewarding representation of the Passion. Kirchenmusikalische Mitteilungen 3 / 1999. Score and part available separately - see item CA.1015200.

Dixit et Magnificat comprises the earliest vesper sections of all the vesper services and vesper psalm settings that Mozart wrote. Like the later complete vesper services, it was one of the works of church art commissioned for prestige purposes as was the custom at all well-known courts in Europe during the eighteenth century. Score and part available separately - see item CA.4005200.

To honor Native American cultures, Kevin Mixon has creatively scored Native American Homage. This work represents music typically heard at many modern-day powwows, commingling authentic sounds of nature and intertribal music. Contrasting lyrical and bravura sections authentically and respectfully present a substantive introduction to America's oldest known indigenous music. This compelling new work will move audiences and draw critical acclaim. A real winner! Free, public domain MP3 recordings of optional night sounds are available for download under the Downloads section on the left.

A special charm of the mass is the fact that it dispenses with soloists. In this mass, exemplary for Cherubini's church music is the richness of color in the treatment of the orchestra, as well as in the choral parts, and the expressiveness of the dynamic nuances. This is the bizarre and fantastic story of the boy Jacob who is transformed into a dwarf with a huge nose by an mysterious fairy. He spends seven years in the fairy's palace, and during this time becomes a marvellous cook. The years go by as in a dream, and he does not imagine that he is in truth in the body of a loathsome dwarf. When he sees his parents again, they do not recognize him. He is mocked and rejected by everyone. But Jakob is not disheartened! He has to protect himself and survive setbacks and tests until at the end of the story he regains his true form. Zwerg Nase, based on the fairy tale of the same name by Wilhelm Hauff, is a story which gives courage and hope. It is a story which tells of self-confidence and friendship. There are the animals in the fairy's palace, who stand alongside Zwerg Nase, and above all his girlfriend the goose Mimi who is herself an enchanted maiden and is saved from the oven by Zwerg Nase. Mimi knows which magic herb can give him back his true form. And everything turns out well in the end. The text and music convey the magical content of the fairy tale in a playful, yet convincing way. The libretto is catchy in its verse and rhyme, comic ideas alternate with touching and atmospheric passages. Classic and contemporary elements mix together in the setting, oriental borrowings stand alongside rhythmic pieces such as boogie-woogie, tango, and waltz. Written for chorus and solo voices, the Singspiel is suitable for children and young people from 6 to 14 years. It is about an hour in length.
