Violin 2 (SATB - 0.0.0.0 - 3.0.0.0 - timp - str - bc) SKU: BR.OB-32120-16 Cantata for Christmas Day - Urtext. Composed by Johann Kuhnau. Edited by David Erler. Choir; stapled. Orchester-Bibliothek (Orchestral Library). Cantata; Baroque. Sheet Music. 8 pages. Duration 25'. Breitkopf and Haertel #OB 32120-16. Published by Breitkopf and Haertel (BR.OB-32120-16). ISBN 9790004350485. 10 x 12.5 inches. This cantata is a composition by Kuhnau for the first of the Christmas holidays [Christmas Day] and one of his most extensive works. It is underlaid with the free poetry of a hitherto anonymous author, not including any Bible or chorale texts. Though the dating has not yet been clarified, the structure - two recitative-aria pairings, framed by two magnificent tutti movements - indicates a genesis period within the last years of the composer's tenure as St. Thomas cantor in Leipzig. Additional indications are the triple use of the da capo form as well as the four-part vocal setting, partly differentiated in solo and tutti, taking the individual parts to the limits of their ambitus as was later customary with Johann Sebastian Bach.Particularly noteworthy are two details of the instrumentation: Firstly, there are three violin parts in the score, the first of which has to master an exceptionally virtuoso solo part. Secondly, in the third movement, Kuhnau expressly notates an obbligato organ solo part, not to be found in any of his other extant compositions. This virtuosic part also already foreshadows the later and far more famous obbligato organ parts in various Bach cantatas. $9.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 3 to 4 weeks

String quartet SKU: HH.HH369-FSP Composed by Anonymous. Edited by Christo...(+)
String quartet SKU: HH.HH369-FSP Composed by Anonymous. Edited by Christopher Hogwood. Two Violins, Viola, Violoncello. Full score and parts. Edition HH Music Publishers #HH369-FSP. Published by Edition HH Music Publishers (HH.HH369-FSP). ISBN 9790708041887. This previously-unpublished Concerto a Quadro presumably started life as a concerto for the standard Baroque forces of flute, strings and continuo, now otherwise unknown; it is preserved in its surviving form for flute, violin, viola and cello in a set of manuscript parts apparently copied by an amateur musician in Sweden. Although unlikely to be the work of Handel, as a rare early example of music for flute quartet it is an attractive extension to a repertoire otherwise dominated by the works of Mozart and his contemporaries. In the present publication, editorial figuring in the cello part allows for the possibility of expanding the texture with additional continuo instruments. $23.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 4 to 6 weeks

Orchestra Str (4 Vn parts [2.2.2.2].3.2.2): Harpsichord Continuo in score SKU: AP.36-A793402 Arranged by Unico Wilhelm Van wassenaer and ed./arr. by Fritz Rikko. String Orchestra. Kalmus Orchestra Library. Score and Part(s). LudwigMasters Publications #36-A793402. Published by LudwigMasters Publications (AP.36-A793402). UPC: 659359748073. English. The six CONCERTI ARMONICI was long thought to be the work of the violinist-impresario Carlo Ricciotti or composer Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, but more recent research has revealed the composer to be Unico Wilhelm van Wassenauer (1692-1766). Born into a wealthy Dutch family, the diplomat and composer founded a Collegium musicum in The Hague under the oversight of Ricciotti. Composed between 1725 and 1740, the six concertos have been falsely attributed to a variety of contemporaries, Ricciotti and Pergolesi amongst them, since its anonymous publication. Wassenauer's aristocratic background was the reason for his secretiveness. The sentiment of the time ordained that musicians belong to the lower classes. This edition of CONCERTINO No. 2 (also CONCERTO ARMONICO in G Major, CONCERTO IV, or just CONCERTINO in G), drawing from the CONCERTO ARMONICO in G Major, IUW 3, was edited by 20th century Baroque expert Fritz Rikko. Rikko spuriously attributes the work to Pergolesi. Despite Wassenauer's authorship having since been confirmed, Rikko's original editorial notes have been retained. Instrumentation: Str (4 Vn parts [2.2.2.2].3.2.2): Harpsichord Continuo in score. These products are currently being prepared by a new publisher. While many items are ready and will ship on time, some others may see delays of several months. $35.00 - See more - Buy online
