‘Mariachi’ refers to typical Mexican street bands as well a musical genre which has been recognized since 2011 on the UNESCO list of Intangible Cultural Heritage. Mexicana is a tribute to this vivid music and was a commission from the French cultural association “Lille 3000†as part of the 2019 Eldorado thematic edition.
