Baby Jesus was written as a follow-up to Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh. The songs are simple yet colourful and the piano part has been kept easy enough for most school pianists to cope with. Percussion parts will add interest to the music and give a great sense of achievement to the players. The lyrics are uncluttered and are hence manageable for very young children and those with learning difficulties. Baby Jesus provides a versatile work into which teachers can input their own ideas. Duration: 25 mins. If you need to license a school/youth theatre performance of this product, please use the online application form.

Ton Koopman's new edition of all 16 organ concertos by Handel has drawn to a close. The quality of this edition has been highly praised from all quarters. Source-critical responsibility goes hand in hand with a high level of performance practice when Koopman provides interpretative tips for the ad libitum passages in the organ part without restricting the creativity of the interpreter who is interested in stylistic matters and prefers to work out his own solutions. I want to make an edition that is not a Koopman interpretation, but contains only that which Handel really wrote. Nevertheless, there are occasional performance suggestions in small print which are elucidated in the Critical Commentary. (Ton Koopman in Concerto) Koopman offers a basically unmarked text, thus leaving the performance details up to the performer. Especially note-worthy is the clear printing, extensive preface and detailed Critical Notes. (Katholische Kirchenmusik) Whoever wishes to hear the entire Koopman edition on CD can look forward to the new recording by Christian Schmitt and the Stuttgarter Kammerorchester (Brilliant Classics). This is the first recording for which all 16 new Koopman editions were used as the basis for the performance.

In this ambitious series, Bryan Johanson and Jesse McCann seek to address this missing element in the study of classical guitar. In light of the sheer volume of guitar music written over the centuries, not to men- tion early works by the guitarâs plucked-string relatives, the authorsâ choices were by necessity limited to a select group of standards. These might be considered among the most popular works in the guitar canon, admired over the years by performers, students, and audiences alike for their beauty, musical expression, and idiomatic sonority. There are, of course, other pieces that could have been included. But by choosing works that give a broad survey of styles across musical periods (Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and early 20th century) written by some of the guitarâs most important composers, the authors present a com- prehensive cross-section of the essential repertoire for the instrument.- William KanengiserDans cette série ambitieuse, Bryan Johanson et Jesse McCann cherchent à aborder cet élément manquant dans l'étude de la guitare classique.

There is a lot to be said for the argument that the oratorio Wacht! Euch zum Streit gefasset macht, which has been handed down anonymously, is actually the only surviving Abendmusik from Dieterich Buxtehude and that he composed this work, also known as Das Jungste Gericht, for St. Mary's Church in Lubeck, where it was probably performed around 1683. For the first time this full-length work, with its richly contrasting style and dramatic action, is made accessible for performance in its original form. Ton Koopman reconstructed the parts which were missing from the source. Score available separately - see item CA.3601900.

Art Sheinberg has discovered a gem from the late English Baroque keyboard literature and expertly scored it to sound as if it were originally for strings. The violin ll and viola parts are often doubled, as are the cello and bass parts; there are essentially three parts throughout. This gives a full and balanced sound which accommodates uneven instrumentation. Violin l parts are in third position much of the time, and alternate fingerings given for the other parts will keep other advanced players busy. The piece is in D major throughout, with the exception of brief excursions into A and B minor. Full of rhythmic drive and sparkling counterpoint, the piece is a sure winner with students and an excellent vehicle to teach detached style and ensemble independence. This title is available in MakeMusic Cloud.

Since the 1970's, NASA has been launching long-range, solar-powered probes into space. Over the past 30 years, the Voyager, Pioneer, and Galileo series’ probes have sent back incredible photographs. The data sent to Earth by these probes, along with recent photos and information gathered by the orbital telescope, Hubble, has helped astronomers chart the ever-expanding universe all the way back to its origins. This composition provides excellent opportunities for cross-curriculum teaching withscience. A scintillating musical spacescape ushers in the bold thematic statement in the Trumpets and Alto Saxophones. French Horns join in thrilling variation. A boundless contrasting espressivo theme soars through to the reprise of the initial ideas. Explore SPACE PROBE with your band this year. Inspiring!

A Worcester man, Nathaniel Giles (or Gyles) held posts at St George's, Windsor, and at the Chapel Royal until his death in 1633. His anthems were widely circulated during his lifetime, but largely forgotten thereafter. Their texts are taken from the Book of Common Prayer, the Bible and psalms, and from the metrical translations of Sternhold and Hopkins.

Casa Ricordi Milano in partnership with Fondazione Giorgio Cini, Venezia (Istituto Antonio Vivaldi). Critical edition by Alessandro Borin. The six Concerts op. VI for violin, strings and continuo by Antonio Vivaldi were published in Amsterdam by Roger in 1719. Although the contribution of Vivaldi was probably modest – even to assume that the collection was published without the composer's assistance and perhaps even his agreement – these six compositions mark a decisive step towards the definition of the classic Vivaldi Concerto, a change evident both from the systematic adoption of the three-movement plan and from the absence of any supplementary solo parts beyond the principal violin. This critical edition is based on the first edition of Opus VI and its reprints, but takes also into consideration all the sources of single concertos printed into anthologies or transmitted in manuscript form (Wiesentheid and Dresden). The information gathered through the comparative analysis of the manuscript and the printed traditions of Vivaldi's Opus 6 has permitted us to reconstruct the links among the sources, to clarify some problematic editorial decisions and formulate new hypotheses on the genesis and the intrinsic nature of the collection as a whole.

The Requiem in B flat major is Johann Michael Haydn's second setting of the liturgical text of the Mass of the dead (another Requiem, MH 599, has since been identified as the work of Father Georg Pasterwiz) and it is also his last work, his Opus ultimum. On commission from Empress Maria Theresia he began the composition in 1805, but due to a serious illness he made only slow progress with the work. Like W. A. Mozart, he could not complete this Requiem. In 1839 Father Gunther Kronecker, Benedictine Father in the monastery of Kremsmunster in Upper Austria, completed the torso in the spirit and style of Haydn. During his student days in Vienna Father Gunther belonged to the circle of friends who were associated with Franz Schubert. Score and parts available separately - see item CA.5483800.

Theres no getting away from it, the 5-string banjo is about as American as apple pie. This poses something of a conundrum for those who love the instrument, but dont wish to be confined to bluegrass music. My own motives for straying musically were born out of necessity, but now the enjoyment and exploration of new musical styles are what guides me. This book and accompanying online video are intended to help anyone who also wants to take their banjo playing to new exciting places. Includes access to online video.
