Imagine almost a thousand voices raised in glorious harmony, singing songs of the faith and accompanied by a grand church band and orchestra, as together they offer their adoration and worship to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! That is exactly what has happened each and every year for the past decade or more at the annual Choral Festival in Spartanburg S. C., sponsored by our friends at Christian Supply. Each year, Choral Festival has commissioned one of the church's favorite choral arrangers and personalities, Marty Parks, to arrange The Opener – a medley of hymns, praise choruses, worship songs, and gospel favorites blended together in an opening presentation that gives the event its signature launch every year! Having long been a favorite element of the conference year after year, many have asked, Where can I get those arrangements for my church? or Are those arrangements available for my choir?. Well, your wait is over! Word Music & Church Resources is excited to present CHORAL FESTIVAL FAVORITES, created, arranged and orchestrated by Marty Parks! We have joined hands with Marty and Christian Supply to bring you this highly-anticipated book of blended medleys for your choir and congregation. Taking the same arrangements created for Choral Festival, Marty has adapted them for use on Sundays with your choir, band, and orchestra, while leaving plenty of room and encouragement for your congregation to join in and sing along! We also offer a powerful DVD accompaniment and performance track to support and enhance your presentation of these proven medleys on Sunday mornings! Mike Speck fulfills his dream to compile and create medleys of the most loved classic hymns, contemporary choruses, and old-time gospel songs in Timeless Praise, creating a collection for worship leaders that allows the varying styles to flow together seamlessly. Each medley utilizes about six songs and is five to seven minutes in length. They are organized by the great themes of our faith including The Cross, The Resurrection, Second Coming, Grace, and more. Each medley includes repeat endings and song endings so that they can be adapted to any worship situation. The choral edition contains easy four-part voicing with chord symbols. The Piano/Vocal edition also includes a complete accompaniment in addition to the contents of the choral book and is contained in a three ring binder. The preview paks contain special editions which preview 10 of the 22 medleys.

This six-movement chorale cantata was first performed on 26 December 1724. The text is based on the Lutheran translation of the early Christian hymn A solis ortus cardinem. The outer movements frame two arias for tenor and bass, and two secco recitatives for alto and soprano. The first and sixth movements are in old-fashioned style, with four-part vocal writing and colla parte instruments. In the aria (movement 2) the tenor is accompanied by an obbligato oboe d'amore, and in the 4th and most striking movement, the three string parts accompany the bass. The demands on the singers, instrumentalists, and chorus are typical of a Bach cantata. Score available separately - see item CA.3112100.

The fourth volume of the section of the Reger Edition devoted to his organ works comprises, in chronological order, the chorale preludes composed between October 1893 and November 1914 in Wiesbaden, Weiden, Munich, Leipzig, and Meiningen. The composition of chorale preludes accompanied Reger throughout his entire career, even though they were composed primarily in the years from 1900 to 1902 and 1914 (Opus 135a). As almost no other composer at the turn of the century, he dedicated himself to the chorale prelude, composing around 100 works in this genre. Since January 2008, the first scholarly, critical edition of the works of Max Reger (RWA) is being produced at the Max-Reger-Institute, Karlsruhe. Its design as a hybrid edition breaks new ground in the methods of editorial practice. It comprises three areas of Reger's compositional output: Organ works, Lieder and choruses and, for the first time, Max Reger's arrangements of works by other composers. To begin the series, the first seven volumes have been published and contain the organ works, which have been eagerly awaited by many.

The opening chorus uses the first verse of the old plainsong hymn Veni redemptor gentium, which in the paraphrase by Martin Luther has become the most important Advent hymn of the Protestant Church. Bach introduces the traditional plainsong melody in the form of a French overture, here symbolizing the entry of the King of Heaven, thus creating an unusual and splendid opening piece for the beginning of the church year. Score available separately - see item CA.3106100.

In spring 1816 Franz Schubert, just nineteen years old, completed his second setting of the Stabat Mater in the midst of a highly productive period. In contrast with his first setting written the previous year, just five minutes in length, this time Schubert used the German translation by Klopstock as the basis for his composition. Stefan Schuck's edition is the first one of this work to be based on a critical evaluation of the primary sources, with complete performance material. The work, in a dark F minor, with its text by Klopstock, places Jesus Christ, rather than Mary, at the center of the contemplation. With his fugues, but particularly in the eight-part lamenting chorus Wer wird Zahren sanften Mitleids, Schubert shows himself at the height of his creative output. He composed his 4th Symphony, the Tragic, at almost the same time. The Stabat Mater is a rewarding work for choral societies and choirs to perform, because the choir has the largest portion to sing, and the choral parts are not too demanding. The composition is also a beautiful introduction to the choral-symphonic music of Schubert for less experienced choirs.

Full Score and Parts plus CD with Printable Parts for Go Sing It on the Mountain - 65/2073L The birth of Jesus is a scene of awe-inspiring humility: God in human form, born in a lowly manger for our salvation. Pepper Choplin's distinctive, folk-infused musical style is particularly well-suited to capture this story. Employing a highly-inventive mixture of mountain melodies, folk hymns, spirituals, familiar carols, and original music that is sure to surprise and delight, Go Sing It on the Mountain proclaims the good news from the prophet Isaiah's proclamation, Comfort, O comfort my people, to the final exuberant celebration: Joy to the World! Christ is born! Solos, Duets, and Trios shine the spotlight on featured singers and nicely complement the SATB choruses.
