Composed by Paul Raphael, Explorers on the Moon, the sequel to his 2017 work Destination Moon, was composed in 2019 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1969 Moon Landings. It is inspired by the Belgian author Hergé and his most famous creation, Tintin. The music uses Hergé’s story from 1950 almost twenty years prior to the first ever moon landing - following Tintin and his fellow adventurers as they become the first humans on the Moon. This fantastic piece is split into three parts, titled ‘Space’, ‘Nightmare Land’ and ‘The Journey Home’ and is one of the most spectacular contest pieces in recent years.Explorers on the Moon is een vervolg op Paul Raphaels eerdere werk Destination Moon uit 2017. Destination Moon was first performed by Cory Band at the 2017 European Championships in Ostend, Belgium, and is inspired by the Belgian comic-book hero Tintin. The first part is called ‘Science’ and describes the development of the theory of space travel. The second part is ‘Humanity’ which addresses human concerns and philosophies about our place in the universe. Carl eliminated the second speed control in order to save space and reduce the footprint, but he packaged the new Purple Moon in a two-toned, anodized diecast case with head mounted Input/Output/9v and the same heavy duty bypass switch that he uses on every pedal. The Carl Martin Purple Moon uses special CM developed DC/DC converter circuitry that enables us to run the pedal with +-12V internally (which is necessary to maintain quality and headroom) while still powering the unit with a standard 9v external power supply!
