Huilukonsertto. Par ENGLUND EINAR. Einar Englund?s (1916-1999) Flute Concerto (1985) is beyond dispute one of his greatest works. Its finest attributes are its rich melodic invention, colourful instrumentation and immediate message. Add to these its rewarding solo part, and the result is truly one of his best concertos ? and works. He himself did not hesitate to regard it as such. It was premiered in Helsinki on September 16, 1985, having been completed at Ljugarn on the Swedish island of Gotland at the end of June. The Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra was conducted by Leif Segerstam, and the soloist was the concerto?s dedicatee, Mikael Helasvuo. The Flute Concerto opens with a Ritornello in which the flute's playful, dance-like passages make sharp contrast with the orchestra's heroic stance. In the mellow Canzona which follows, the flute plays rhapsodically over repetitive orchestral figures. The work's 'action-packed' finale hints at parody in its military march-like opening, but also gives rein to the lyricism already familiar from the second movement. Par JOLIVET ANDRE. Andre Jolivet (1905-1974) composed this Concerto for Flute and Strings in 1949. Initially written for Flute and String Orchestra, this version contains the scores for the Flute and the Piano and lasts 12 minutes. This strong> Concerto for Flute and Strings is quite unusual as it was only created in two movements, each divided into a slow introduction and a fast main part. Used as one of the main pieces of the Geneva music contest ; Concours de Genève in 2014, this concerto requires advanced skills. Andre Jolivet is a French composer who was really inspired by theAntiquity and had a strong interest for atonality. Saint-Saëns completed the Romance in D Flat Major on 25 March 1871. If in his concertos for solo instrument and orchestra Saint-Saëns freed himself from the Viennese classical model (reconfiguring it with originality but in the light, certainly, of the formal experimentations of Schumann and of Biedermeier virtuosity), in the Romance opus 37 and other works of similar form (opus 27, 36 and 48) he adopted the Romantic ternary Liedform (A-B-A) - in particular that of Schumann's Stücke and Mendelssohn's Lieder ohne Worte - and transcended the idiomaticity of the respective solo instruments, now interchangeable ad libitum (flute or violin, in the case of opus 37), thereby making the pieces more widely usable and emphasizing their cantabile quality. / Flûte (Ou Violon) Et Piano

Die Kadenzen und Eingänge stammen von dem Mozart-Kenner, dem Musikwissenschaftler und Pianisten Robert D. Levin. Die vorgeschlagenen Kadenzen und Eingänge zeichnen sich dadurch aus, dass sich der Musizierende dank eines ausgeklügelten Verweissystems aus dem angebotenen Material immer wieder neue, 'eigene' Kadenzen zusammenstellen kann.
