Suffs is the Tony Award®-winning musical that's making history on Broadway! Crafted by the supremely talented Shaina Taub, she's shattered ceilings by becoming the first woman to single-handedly snag Tony Awards for both Best Book and Best Score in the same year. Beyond its Tony Award® glory, Suffs has clinched the title of Best Musical from the Outer Critics Circle, bagged a pair of Drama Desk Awards including one for Best Score, and it's been hailed as the season's most heart-stirring musical by the Chicago Tribune. This musical dives into the lives of the suffragist women, affectionately known as âSuffs.â These women weren't just intellectual giants in their pursuit for the voteâthey were complex beings, marked by their persistence, humor, and the fiery passion driving their cause. Suffs unfolds the tapestry of their camaraderie, the setbacks that tested them, and showcases the push-pull dynamics that either united or divided them. Venturing boldly into an equality struggle that echoes into today, Suffs stands as a theatrical behemoth, lauded by Forbes as a âmust-see,â and a stirring nudge reminding us that while progress is within reach, it's never a sure thing. UPC: 680160921102. Key: E lydian. English. The Vastness of the Universe Jonas Hallgrimsson (1807-1845). About Jónas HalgrÃmsson (1807-1845) was an Icelandic poet, author and naturalist, who is considered one of Iceland's most renowned poets. Considered a Romantic writer, the strong imagery in his poetry was influenced heavily by the landscapes around him.The imagery, excitement, and curiosity of the universe leapt off the page and the music almost wrote itself. Reflecting on the cosmos and origin of the heavens, the poetry elicits excitement and stirs spatial imagery - ...speeding spark of light, ...wings swifter than wind..., ...I watched the stars...rise from the still stream of heaven... The pure and almost child-like fascination with the universe and its expansion and progression fuels the perpetual rhythm of the work as it continually pushes forward.A good friend asked if I would write a song for her ensemble. The original voicing, for SAB choir, contained parameters in that it had to be three-part with a limited range in the Bass part. With these stipulations I began to write. I searched for something that would be exciting for them and landed on Jonas Halgrimsson’s writings. I believe it is equally as exciting, accessible and challenging for treble choirs.Note to the DirectorTruly consider how the work can come to ‘life’ off the page. Rise and fall with phrase and sometimes each note. The magic exists beyond the ink on the page!Consideration to range, tessitura, and content was all considered as part of this process in creating music that is accessible to all programs and ensembles.Accompaniment NoteThe accompaniment can look intimidating, but please feel free to alter the pulsing eighth notes in the left hand with the eighth notes in the right-hand so it creates a compound rhythm. So long as the momentum of the work is pressed onward, you are doing this work justice. Tuba Solo with Piano Accompaniment - Grade 6 SKU: KN.13162 Composed by Luigi Cherubini. Arranged by Mike Forbes. Solo. Kendor Solo Series. Score and part. Kendor Music Inc #13162. Published by Kendor Music Inc (KN.13162). UPC: 822795131628. Originally composed for English horn by classical composer Luigi Cherubini, this sonata translates beautifully for proficient low brass soloists. Known for his sensational dramatic flare, especially in his operas, Cherubini, like Beethoven, helped push the conventional limits of classical music into the Romantic era. This work is a fine example of breathtaking virtuosity. Duration ca. 7:20. $10.99 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 1 to 2 weeks

Clarinet; Piano Accompaniment (Clarinet/Piano) SKU: HL.48025033 In Memory of the Reichspogromnacht November 9,1938 Clarinet in B-. Composed by Ursula Mamlok. Windependence Chamber Ensemble. Classical. Softcover. 12 pages. Bote & Bock #M202536056. Published by Bote & Bock (HL.48025033). ISBN 9783793143024. UPC: 196288019978. The Shoa never was a theme in the works of Ursula Mamlok - with the exception of Ruckblick for saxophone and piano which she wrote in 2002 on commission of the Temple University in memory of Kristallnacht. The contrast between slow and fast movements is much moreelaborate than in her other works from that period, with the fast movements appearing somewhat driven while the piano part for a fewmoments adopts an otherwise unknown severity. Near the end of the third movement, cantabile and fleeting gestures are suddenly pushed toward each other. The first fast movement arises from the destruction of attempted cantability. The Elegy (2nd movement) dies away with a four-fold reminder of its initial motif, the last attempt remaining fragmentary. The fourth movement Lament concludes with a figure that returns to its beginning. In addition to the original version with alto saxophone, versions with bass clarinet or for clarinet in Bb are available. $16.99 - See more - Buy online

About Jonas Halgrimsson (1807-1845) was an Icelandic poet, author and naturalist, who is considered one of Iceland's most renowned poets. Considered a Romantic writer, the strong imagery in his poetry was influenced heavily by the landscapes around him. The imagery, excitement, and curiosity of the universe leapt off the page and the music almost wrote itself. Reflecting on the cosmos and origin of the heavens, the poetry illicits excitement and stirs spatial imagery - ...speeding spark of light, ...wings swifter than wind..., ...I watched the stars...rise from the still stream of heaven.... The pure and almost child-like fascination with the universe and its expansion and progression fuels the perpetual rhythm of the work as it continually pushes forward. https://digicoll.library.wisc.edu/Jonas/Alheim/Alheim.html A good friend asked if I would write a song for her ensemble. The parameters were that it had to be three-part with a limited range in the Bass part. With these stipulations I began to write. I searched for something that would be exciting for them and landed on Jonas Halgrimsson's writings. There is such a need for three-part music that is both exciting, accessible, and challenging. Director's Note Truly consider how the work can come to 'life' off the page. Rise and fall with phrase and sometimes each note. The magic exists beyond the ink on the page! Consideration to range, tessitura, and content was all considered as part of this process in creating music that is accessible to all programs and ensembles Accompaniment Note The accompaniment can look intimidating, but please feel free to alter the pulsing eighth notes in the left hand with the eighth notes in the right-hand so it creates a compound rhythm. So long as the momentum of the work is pressed onward, you are doing this work justice. The unusual combination of cello, percussion and piano seems more incongruous than it actually sounds. When I first heard the ensemble Aequalis, in a full evening program I was absolutely astonished at the combination of lyricism, pulse, and color. Something about the mix causes the cello to sound marimba-like, the vibraphone to imitate the cello's harmonics, and the piano to become a kind of proto-orchestra of colors and effects. Tsunami was written for Aequalis in the summer and fall of 1991 with the assistance of a grant from Chamber Music America. The title, the Japanese word for tidal wave (which is a misnomer -- tsunamis have nothing to do with the tides), refers to the phenomenon of an undersea disturbance causing a huge wall of water to flood the first land in its path. The initial earthquake or volcanic eruption that sends a seismic shock through the water is invisible -- it's only when that shock wave hits land, recoils, and takes ocean swells back with it, that the wave begins to form. In successive landings, recoilings, and re-landings, this force finally spends itself, usually inundating anything in its path, sometimes to a depth of one hundred feet or more. My piece does not attempt to depict this natural cataclysm -- how could it, with three instruments? -- but the form of the first half of the work is based on it. The initial percussive shock that opens the piece creates a stir in the form of a cello motive marked swelling and employing long portamenti pushing upwards. After a second shock, the cello motive begins an undersea journey -- very slow and lyrical at first -- accompanied by non-pitched percussion only. Eventually the piano joins, first with echoing bass notes, then with a rather mechanical motive high on the keyboard. This force grows, the cello line climbs higher and higher until another double-shock is heard -- perhaps the energy has hit land? Following this, the percussion becomes melodic (marimba), and we now have two lines in canon accompanied by a separate line in the piano. This, too, builds to a climax, and an even louder and more vigorous shock results. Now the texture is a three-way canon with cello, vibraphone, and piano chasing each other in ever faster cycles of sound. The height of this is a triple cadenza in which all three players spend their pent-up energy, one at a time. The second part of the piece follows after a settling-down, and is marked Dancing. This is a rondo, with a recurring theme (heard first in the marimba) followed by three contrasting sections heard between reiterations of the main tune (the form could be diagrammed A-A-B-A-C-A). The mood is one of joyous kinetic energy, with elements of Eastern or Balinese gamelan sounds, and employing several pentatonic scales (as does the first half of the work). It ends in a vigorous, stomping dance. --Dan Welcher  . $31.99 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Choral (ChoirTrax CD) SKU: HL.274444 From Christus. Composed by Fe...(+)
Choral (ChoirTrax CD) SKU: HL.274444 From Christus. Composed by Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn. Arranged by John Leavitt. Sacred Choral. Advent, Christmas, Christmas/Advent Sacred, Concert, Epiphany, General Worship. CD. Duration 240 seconds. Published by Hal Leonard (HL.274444). UPC: 888680739973. 5.0x5.0x0.15 inches. Matthew 2:2, Numbers 24:17, Psalm 72:8. From Felix Mendelssohn's oratorio, Christus, this masterwork adaptation tastefully presents a classical work for church and academic choirs. This chorus is from one of Mendelssohn's final works which was never completed. The rolling triplet accompaniment pushes the composition forward with wave-like arches, supporting the choir in all of its sonorous glory. A smooth contrapuntal style contrasts with dramatic accents and powerful crescendos, displaying the confident scripture-based text with appropriate excitement! John Leavitt has provided a new piano accompaniment as well as a new sparkling orchestration that supports the work while staying faithful to the Mendelssohn original. Score and Parts (fl 1-2, ob, cl 1-2, bn, perc, timp, hp, vn 1-2, va, vc, db) available as a digital download. $26.99 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 24 hours - In Stock
