The piece was commissioned by Kevin Scully, Director of Creative Arts, for the Port Washington School District, New York, with special thanks to the Ed Foundation and HEARTS for their unwavering support. Performance Notes This lighthearted piece is a great way to bring multiple choirs together in harmony. It may be sung by a single SATB choir, though it is intended to be performed by multiple choirs of varying age levels. Song of the Sound was written for an all-district feeder festival piece for combined elementary, middle level, and high school choirs. Here is a suggested outline for combining multiple choirs: Rehearsal Letters A to B: Elementary choir only (two-part, Soprano, Alto) Rehearsal Letter B: add Middle Level Soprano, Alto with Elementary choir Rehearsal Letter C: Middle Level choir only Rehearsal Letter D: High School choir only Rehearsal Letter E to the end: Everyone! Song of the Sound: Running on the beach, digging in the sand, Seaweed in my toes, bucket in my hand. When I'm at the shore, way above the rest, These are all the things that I love the best. Skipping like a stone on the water, diving deep in the silvery foam, Swimming far where the land cannot hold us, where the lighthouse calls us home. Flying free above the marshes, soaring high above the sea, Where the tern and cormorant and plover call to lands we cannot see.Come let us go to the water, let us go to the singing shore: Where the gentle breezes whisper and the mighty breakers roar. We will look to the shining ocean, to the East, where the new day dawned: We will sing a song of the edge of the world and the waiting sky beyond. -Poem by Robert Bode (Hope Springs Retreat Center, Ohio. Christmas Carol Trilogy is a perfect opening or closing piece for the holiday concert. This arrangement incorporates three of the most famous traditional carols: O Come, All Ye Faithful, What Child is This? and Joy to the World. Michael J. Miller has written a band arrangement based on this choral arrangement (YPS223). Miller's arrangement can either serve as a band accompaniment or as a stand-alone band arrangement. Choral and band directors can now have a piece for holiday concerts where both can play and sing together!.Christmas Carol Trilogy was arranged because it is often difficult to find a medley of standard Christmas/Holiday carols to use as an opening or closing piece for the holiday concert. Choral and band directors can now have a piece to close a holiday concert where both can play and sing together! It was a joy to arrange a choral arrangement that incorporates three of the most famous traditional carols: O Come, All Ye Faithful, What Child is This? and Joy to the World. I am so pleased that Michael J. Miller wrote a band arrangement based on this choral arrangement (YPS223). Miller's arrangement can either serve as a band accompaniment or as a stand-alone band arrangement. I hope you enjoy singing Christmas Carol Trilogy as much as I enjoyed writing it! A striking setting of an original text, beautifully written for Alto solo with mixed choir by one of the best new church choral writers of the day, this choral anthem is perfect for anniversary Sundays, All Saints Day, or mission-emphasis worship. The words state very clearly, the vision and purpose of the Christian Church, while calling believers to accountability for responding to the challenge of life today. Musically, the piece is dynamic, lush and powerful, and incorporates the familiar hymn Lead On, O King Eternal, that fits well with the spirit and message. An accompaniment track offers full instrumental support for choirs and soloist.

The perfect Palm Sunday anthem or Easter/Christmas pageant “Triumphant Entry†selection, this piece, by two very noted writers uses both original material and the familiar hymn tune “All Glory, Laud and Honor.†The SATB arrangement can be learned in a few rehearsals, making it a great choice for choral directors and choirs during holiday seasons. The setting includes solo opportunities and/or small ensemble options, which broadens the choices for performance.

For Bresnick's 1985 choral composition, he chose three poems of Yehuda Amichai: Roshi, Roshi, Began Katan, and Tosefet Lechazor Hashalom. Commissioned by and dedicated to the Connecticut Hebrew Chorale. Anthony Tommasini (New York Times) describes the Three Choral Songs as mystical yet harmonically astringent settings of texts on themes of pain, comfort and war..

In this arrangement of the beloved African-American Spiritual, Elizabeth Campbell has employed the call and response tradition in both the choral writing and the use of a soprano soloist. The unobtrusive accompaniment quietly supports the choir as it shimmers above in opulent harmonies.
