Its bears the subtitle Lament on the Loss of Musical Thought - some Madrigals for Solo Flute or Flute with any other Instruments. This serves as a playing instruction but doubles at the same time as an outmoded programme: it refers back to the musical origin of the opening lamenting motif, a tradition which was once of its time but is not of our time - namely the Lamento genre which gave the title to the Chaconne in Purcell's opera Dido and Aeneas. Almost simultaneously I wrote a second version for Piano (for Piano one-and-a-half hands), which already formulates possible approaches for the performer, in some detail, to the indicated, quasi-canonic version of the piece in the programme. The multiple version Ein Hauch von Unzeit III realizes a concrete version of a formal state which floats between strict canon and aleatoric principles: each of the musicians who are spread throughout the hall introduces their own idiomatic translation of the flute part. And so the music exists, omnipresent, not only spatially throughout the hall, but also formally in a sort of fluctuating simultaneity. For that reason, it was my express wish to any potential interpreter that they should construct entirely their own version of the piece. A healthy number of musicians have responded to my suggestion - versions of the piece have now been made for guitar (Cornelius Schwehr, Gunther Schneider), accordion (Hugo Noth), double bass (Fernando Grillo), violin (Hansheinz Schneeberger), viola, violoncello, and double bass (trio basso, Koln), violoncello (Michael Bach), trombone (Andrew Digby) and, created by myself, a sung version for voice (to words by Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel und Max Bense), and for viola. The most important requirement for the whole piece is absolute stillness, which should as far as possible emanate from the performer. The pauses are occasionally in this respect the most important element. These may, if one can find the necessary stillness, become very long.Ein Hauch von Unzeit (A Breath of the Untimely) - time almost dissolves!(Klaus Huber, 1989/2014 - translation: David Alberman)CD:Jean-Luc Menet (Bass flute)CD Traversieres 120.270Jean-Luc Menet (fl)CD STR 37039Bibliography:Zimmermann, Heidy: Zeitgestaltung im Kompositionsprozess bei Klaus Huber - dargestellt anhand von Skizzen, in: Mnemosyne. Published by Edition Wilhelm Hansen (HL.14031560). ISBN 9788759811009. International (more than one language). STILL. LEBEN Organist Eva Feldbc:ek had been asking me for a long time to write for the organ without the use of iron blocks, extra stopping assistants etc .... unusual difficulties that belonged to my earlier organ music. I setmyselfthe task of Miting a ''handier'' kind of music for the organ. Once I had finished STILL. LEBEN, I didn't think I had achieved what I was looking for. True, the two movements did not involve odd things, but handy isn't really the word for them either. So I wrote the three movements in COUNTERMOVE to tidy up even more. And since I didn't think that was enough either, I wrote the really simple pieces under the title IN TRIPLUM. The three series(eight pieces in all, 2 + 3 + 3) sound very different, but they all take their point of departure from the nature and tonal resources ofthe organ. Everywhere there is polyrhythm or hierarchical layering, polychromaticism, diatonics and melody (the last of these only sparingly and in some of the movements). Organ SKU: BR.EB-9305 Urtext - Critical Source Edition of the Free Organ Works. Composed by Dietrich Buxtehude. Edited by Harald Vogel. Solo instruments; Softbound. Edition Breitkopf. Renaissance/early Baroque; Baroque. Score. 84 pages. Breitkopf and Haertel #EB 9305. Published by Breitkopf and Haertel (BR.EB-9305). ISBN 9790004187692. 12 x 9 inches. This edition is the result of Harald Vogel's many years of practice as an organist and musicologist. The music text is based on a reevaluation of 17th- and 18th-century manuscripts containing the free organ and keyboard works by Buxtehude. They originated during a transitional phase between the traditional letter tablature and the staff notation still in use today. Since many works have survived only in transcriptions for staff notation, the editor was confronted with a high error rate, which he carefully analyzes in the Einzelanmerkungen. During the preparation of the edition, the editor always kept sight of the performance practice, but still, the image of the sources is never distorted (e. g. by superfluous rests, beaming not conforming to the sources and the unhistorical adjustment of time signatures) and stays very close to the compositional notation, the letter tablature. The flexible use of three staves and the differentiated distribution of the voices on the staves allow for an approximation in reading conventions of historical notation with its resulting information about hand division. Grouping the free organ repertoire into works with obbligato pedal and works for manuals, this edition is organized in two volumes. The first subvolume (I/1, EB 9304) contains the Preface and the Preludes, whereas the second subvolume (I/2, EB 9305) contains Toccatas, Ostinato works, alternative versions and a comprehensive Critical Commentary (in German only). Volume II (EB 9306) contains Buxtehude's free organ and keyboard works (manualiter) with the corresponding texts (Preface and Critical Commentary).Until 1971, Harald Vogel worked on a dissertation (with Georg von Dadelsen, Hamburg) on Die Fuge um Bach. Besides the description of the inclusion of triple measures into the C notation and the irregularities of the voice mutation in the polyphonic structures, this also included a discussion about the justification of the inner textual criticism. With the inner textual criticism, deviations in parallel passages are unified. The North German fugue style, reaching a peak in Buxtehude's work, is characterized by a constant diversity of details in subject and polyphonic progressions. One of the indicators of the fantastic style is the dissolution of the polyphonic structures at the ends of the fugues, evident in Buxtehude's work.In this edition, a musical text is presented that avoids the uniformity of detail not conforming to the sources. However, there are many examples of transcription and cursory errors, which are analyzed in a methodical systematic manner. About the editor: As an organist, professor, organ expert, and scholar, Harald Vogel has rendered outstanding services to the interpretation of early music and especially to historical performance practice concerning the organ for decades. He has received numerous awards, including an ECHO Klassik as Instrumentalist of the Year (2012), honorary doctorates from Lulea University of Technology (Sweden, 2008) and Oberlin College (USA, 2014), as well as the Buxtehude Prize of the City of Lubeck (2018). Harald Vogel is the author and editor of numerous scholarly publications and editions. Through his lifelong performance practice, he can look back on an extensive discography, including the complete recording of Buxtehude's organ works, which he recorded in various locations with historical organ instruments of the North German organ building tradition in Scandinavia, North Germany and the Netherlands.

Organ SKU: ST.H491 Composed by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor. Organ music. With an introduction by Richard Hills. Score. Stainer & Bell Ltd. #H491. Published by Stainer & Bell Ltd. (ST.H491). ISBN 9790220224874. Organist Richard Hills introduces this reissue of a neglected Edwardian classic with a timely note on performance-style, the composer and his works. Varied in colour and mood, and written with an idiomatic command of the instrument, these Three Impromptus reinforce the impression of Coleridge-Taylor not only as a versatile presence on the Edwardian scene, but also as a composer whose music is an enduring part of our British musical heritage. Stylistically, the Three Impromptus bear a closer resemblance to the composer's theatrical works than to those intended for the church or concert hall. This light-hearted approach to organ composition is all the more striking when one compares these pieces with others written during the same period by Coleridge-Taylor's colleagues and teachers, many of whom were heavily influenced by the German Romantic tradition of Josef Rheinberger and Max Reger. As original compositions (as opposed to transcriptions) the Three Impromptus should prove an invaluable addition to the repertoire for recitalists wishing to programme sophisticated lighter fare that has immediate appeal.

Orchestra ATB vocal soli, SATB Choir, 2 Flutes, 2 Oboes/2 Oboe d'Amore, Violin solo, Strings, Organ SKU: CA.3111707 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Edited by Hans Grischkat. Sacred vocal music, Cantatas, Praise and thanks. Study score. Composed 1728/1731. BWV 117. 52 pages. Duration 26 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 31.117/07. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.3111707). ISBN 9790007091651. Key: G major. Language: German/English. Text: Schutz, Johann Jakob. Text: Johann Jakob Schutz. The cantata Sei Lob und Ehr dem hochsten Gut (All glory to the Lord of Lords) BWV 117 is one of a small group of Bach's chorale cantatas which use exclusively the text of the chorale, including in the three recitatives and three arias. Only the autograph score of the cantata survives; although this enables an approximate dating to be made (c. 1730), it does not give the occasion for which the cantata was written. The choice of chorale may indicate it was composed for a wedding. Recently it has been suggested that the occasion for its composition was the birthday of the Duke of Weissenfels in 1731; but there is no firm evidence to support either theory. The cantata opens with an extended movement for chorus in which Bach contrasts the concertante orchestra with festive, almost homophonic choral writing. This chorus movement is repeated at the end. A simple chorale movement which comes fourth indicates that the nine-movement cantata was performed in two sections. Organ SKU: FG.55011-448-7 Uuno Klamin savellyksia urkusovituksina. Composed by Uuno Klami. Edited by Esa Ylonen. Score. Fennica Gehrman #55011-448-7. Published by Fennica Gehrman (FG.55011-448-7). ISBN 9790550114487. Uuno Klami (1900-1961) was born in Virolahti and studied in Helsinki, Paris and Vienna. While living in the capital city Helsinki, he always spent his summers in the original homestead in Virolahti. Klami is most known for his colourful orchestral works, but works for piano frame the different times of the composer's life nicely. The piano works are so joyous that transcribing from for organ is firmly based. Surumarssi (Trauermarsch) Op. 8 was composed when Klami was 16 years old, most likely in memory of his late mother. Pastoral A-flat major was composed in December 1919; I find it contains the feeling of Christmas. Barcarole Op. 5 is a French-influenced work. I often find myself thinking of a boat bobbing on waves, while I play this work. I believe these organ transcriptions bring many joyful moments in concerts as well as in other congregational use. And not only that: they can be used as pedagogic material as well. $42.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 4 to 6 weeks

SSB choir and organ SKU: CA.2101903 Composed by Marc-Antoine Charpentier....(+)
SSB choir and organ SKU: CA.2101903 Composed by Marc-Antoine Charpentier. Edited by Inge Forst. Arranged by Paul Horn. French Sacred Music. German title: In circumcisione Domini. Cantatas, Christmas. Full score. H 316. Duration 5 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 21.019/03. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.2101903). ISBN 9790007161446. Language: Latin. Marc-Antoine Charpentier not only originated the Eurovision Melody, rather he also made an important contribution to French sacred music from the baroque with his oratorios, motets and cantatas. The four cantatas for the season of Christmas (CV 21.019-21.022) are now published in first editions. The Latin texts of these works for Christmas, the New Year, Epiphany, and the Purification are based on the accounts of the Gospels, which are paraphrased in the form of poetic texts. As in Charpentier's extensive Histoires sacrees, the musical structure is oratorical, with a part for the evangelist and texts spoken directly by biblical personages and groups of people (angels, Herodes, shepherds, wise men). In each work the vocal scoring includes two sopranos and a bass (those passages where a number of voices sing together can be performed either by soloists or by a choir). With this uniform scoring it would be meaningful to perform these works as a cycle, in the manner of a small Christmas oratorio. | Concerto in E-Flat for Organ (Dumbarton Oaks) Organ Schott
Organ SKU: HL.49046414 Version for organ by Leif Thybo (1952) based on...(+)
Organ SKU: HL.49046414 Version for organ by Leif Thybo (1952) based on the original version for chamber orchestra. Composed by Igor Stravinsky. Organ Large Works. Classical. Softcover. 52 pages. Duration 900 seconds. Schott Music #ED23092. Published by Schott Music (HL.49046414). ISBN 9781540090522. UPC: 842819103974. The American musical patrons Mildred and Robert Wood Bliss were considering which distinguished composer to commission to create a work in celebration of their 30th wedding anniversary in 1938. The couple had made the acquaintance of Igor Stravinsky in April the preceding year at the premiere of his ballet Jeu de Cartes in New York and had subsequently invited the composer to their country home 'Dumbarton Oaks' in Washington D.C. to talk about a new composition. Stravinsky only just managed to complete the work in time for the anniversary celebrations: its date of completion was also the date of its first performance. For his classically styled three-movement work, he selected the title Concerto in E flat, adding the subtitle Dumbarton Oaks as a dedication. The structure of the work references the concerto grosso: it features a soloist ensemble which unites in the tutti sequences but also plays in concertino groups during the solo episodes. Broken chordal structures characterise the central movement whereas the outer movements are distinguished through their use of fugato. Dumbarton Oaks went on to become one of Stravinskys mostsuccessful works, performed widely and delighting Mildred Bliss so much that she immediately issued another commission, for the Symphony in C. Its composer's very public commitment to American cultural life helped pave the way for Stravinskys emigration to the USA in 1945. As early as 1952 Leif Thybo created an arrangement for organ which Stravinsky probably did not know at the time of his life. $34.00 - See more - Buy online

Organ SKU: CA.1817900 Composed by Charles Marie Widor. Edited by Georg Koch. Free organ music. Full score. Op. 42,1. 80 pages. Duration 35 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 18.179/00. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.1817900). ISBN 9790007188979. Language: all languages. It is no coincidence that the Toccata from Widor's Vth Organ Symphony is his best-known composition. Who can resist its thrilling verve? Not only this, but also the other movements of this unique work of the organ repertoire win you over immediately - the first with its march-like, majestic, much-varied theme; the second with its wonderfully elegiac oboe melody, flowing along over staccato sixteenth notes; and the two slow movements, of which the melancholy, almost static Adagio forms the greatest contrast imaginable to the following triumphal Toccata. The Carus Urtext edition is based on the Paris edition of 1928/29, the last one to be published during Widor's lifetime. The corrections which the composer made after the publication of this edition have also been taken into consideration. As well as this, earlier editions have been consulted for comparison to clarify individual variant readings. Editorial suggestions on the performance of individual passages complete the new edition. Great organ works: Series A: - Symphony II op. 13 no. 2 - Symphony IV op. 13 no. 4 - Symphony V op. 42 no. 1 - Symphony VI op. 42 no. 2 - Symphony Romane op. 73 in preparation Subscription offer for Series A: 20% discount off the retail price. $43.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

SATB vocal soli, SATB choir, congregation, 2 violins, viola, cello, contrabass, organ SKU: CA.5040514 Chorale cantata. Composed by Max Reger. Edited by Gunther Massenkeil. German title: O wie selig seid ihr doch. Sacred vocal music, Mourning, death. Single Part, Cello. Composed 1903. Op. WoO V/4 Nr. 2. 2 pages. Duration 15 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 50.405/14. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.5040514). ISBN 9790007081744. Key: D minor. Language: German/English. The choral cantatas are Reger's most personal and most substantial contribution to one of the principal categories of Protestant church music, and they are only major works in this field by one of the foremost composers of his time. This is true despite the fact that Reger himself does not appear to have considered the cantatas to figure among his principal compositions, as he gave them no opus numbers. In contrast to the three other chorale cantatas of Reger which exist in a definitive form, there is no record of the place or date of the first performance of O wie selig, or indeed of any performance of it during the composer's lifetime. Organ transcription of Anthony Payne's 2006 orchestral completion from Elgar's sketches. Robert Gower comments, Working from the orchestral score confirms Payne's musical intuition in taking fragments and developing them into an entirely convincing whole, one imbued with Elgarian spirit and characterised through the economical precision of his own art. Here, intellectual and artistic integrity combine to construct overall architecture in which not a note is wasted, painstaking care is evident in the subtle details of instrumental coloring, and where there is thrilling rhythmic forward propulsion. In saluting the skills of both composers, I have sought to open out for organists the excitement and sincerity of their work, being designed for performance not only on larger organs with a full range of orchestral color, but also made entirely feasible for performance on smaller two-manual instruments.. $18.99 - See more - Buy online
