Rich DeRosa has created a marvelous Latin composition in a baião feel that is recorded by the North Texas Two O'Clock Lab Band. It comes out of the gate roaring. The very hip melody is stated by flute, soprano saxophone, alto saxophone, trumpet and piano. There is plenty of room for improvisation with soloists of your choice, including space for your drummer and any other percussion you might choose to add. The ending of the piece is wild and always brings audiences to their feet! 5-4-4-4 (opt. vibes).

Carl Strommen, one of the most prolific educational writers, has penned the funk chart that students will love. The chord structure is blues in F which can feature any of your soloists. This composition features Carl's trademark rhythmless soli sections. There is a pretty fat chance that this will be a big seller for Carl. Solos are not written out for these F blues changes.

James Miley brings us an original, fresh and fun-to-play composition titled Swing State. With bop-ish lines over a swing feel (with a funky back-beat), this chart brings new life to an eager rhythm section and interesting, interactive rhythmic figures to the ensemble. You choose the soloists from tenor saxophone, trumpet and/or trombone. There is also some solo space for your drummer. Miley is a wonderful composer, and this chart is a great addition to our growing library of contemporary composers. 5-4-4-5.
