Leos Janacek wrote the first part of the cycle for solo piano On an Overgrown Path between 1902-1908. The second part was later published along with the second edition of part one. In his first book, “Hot Tea Swingâ€, the Ukrainian composer Olexandr Moyerer published 20 compositions which he composed over the course of 10 years. The titles reflect the wide range of his compositional creations, with each piece being dedicated to a specific dance and style. In “Alcodance“ you will find a Cha-Cha-Cha, in “Wooden Puppet“ a tango and in “Swinguin“ a classic swing dance. But even European styles like the waltz and the polka have not been left out. The playing instructions indicate the mood of the pieces and indicate opportunities for interpretation: the waltzes should be played thoughtfully or tenderly; the swing pieces should be interpreted slowly. In contrast, the Latin American pieces offer a challenge in terms of the rhythm. Each piece must be discovered and worked on by the pianist in their own particular way. Soweit bekannt wurde diese Fassung vor ihrer erstmaligen Veroffentlichung im Jahr 2003 in der Gesamtausgabe ,,Jean Sibelius Werke (JSW) noch nicht aufgefuhrt. It remains uncertain why Sibelius wrote another version of the work with German text only for voice and string orchestra around the same time. As far as is known this latter version has never been performed before its first publication in the volume of the complete edition Jean Sibelius Works in 2003. In den meisten Fallen beschrankte sich Sibelius auf ein relativ kleines Orchester. In ,,Varen flyktar hastigt sind neben den Streichern nur zwei Floten und vier Horner besetzt. Nearly all of the orchestral arrangements were made years after the original compositions for voice and piano. Yet even though the arrangements were made in a very short period of time Sibelius handled the combination of solo voice and orchestra in all songs with equal mastery sometimes creating dark and dramatic atmospheres (in Pa verandan vid havet) sometimes radiant colorful impressions (in Soluppgang) or light-colored transparent textures (in Varen flyktar hastigt) and always basing his ideas on the poetic idea of the song while discovering refined ways of supporting it. In most cases Sibelius used a comparatively small orchestra: Varen flyktar hastigt has only two flute and four horns added to the strings. Mit dem Erscheinen der Erstausgabe 1986 eroberte sich das Werk rasch seinen Platz neben den anderen Streichorchesterwerken des finnischen Komponisten. Der Komponist Rodolphe Haimann wurde 1960 in Arras (Frankreich) geboren. Er studierte Musikwissenschaft und Kunstgeschichte in Gottingen und danach Klavier (bei Agathe Wanek), Violine (bei Doris Spemann), Liedgestaltung (bei Burkhardt Schaeffer) sowie Komposition (bei Friedrich K. Wanek) am Peter-Cornelius-Konservatorium in Mainz. Es folgte ein Studium an der California State University in Fresno (USA) in den Fachern Klavier (bei Philip Lorenz) und Komposition (bei Jack Fortner). Rodolphe Haimann bestreitet zahlreiche Konzerte als Solist, Liedbegleiter und im Klavier-Duo mit Thomas Noichl im In- und Ausland. Seit 1991 ist Rodolphe Haimann Lehrbeauftragter fur Klavier und Komposition am Camerloher-Gymnasium in Freising (Musisches Gymnasium). Er ist Gastdozent an der Musikakademie Marktoberdorf und Mitglied der EPTA (European Piano Teachers Association).

This short work is partly based on the well-known bassoon solo from Peter and the Wolf, the musical fairy tale by Sergei Prokofiev. However, the original melody is presented in â??inversionâ??: ascending intervals become descending ones, and vice versa. The middle cantabile section is mainly situated in the higher bassoon register, thus forming a lovely contrast with the other parts. The piano accompaniment is modest and transparent, so that the bassoon is not drowned out.Dit korte werkje is deels geënt op de bekende fagotsolo uit Peter en de Wolf, het muzikale sprookje van Sergei Prokofjev.
