It is improvisatory in style and has a melancholy basic character. Over the course of the work, the melodic idea is varied rhythmically several times, and is heard in the treble, tenor and bass registers. Against a quiet basic pulse, the accompanying harmonies appear in the manuals and pedals mostly in subtly matching rhythms, reminiscent of a saxophone soloist with a discreet supporting jazz band. The dynamic of the piece grows from piano to a fundamental forte, and for the conclusion a fine pianissimo is required. Song of Hope is composed for two-manual organ, with a duration of four-and-a-half minutes. The expressive harmonies and the hidden swing of the music communicate directly with audiences, including those with less musical experience. $12.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

The organ work is based on two transformations of the popular piano piece To A Wild Rose (Woodland Sketches, Op.51 No.1) by the American composer, Edward MacDowell (1860-1908). During the course of the Variations, To A Wild Rose appears as a blues and also as a classical rag, often as both together. The sections are Theme: a quiet blues; Variation I: a pedal solo in varied metres based on the blues in fast tempo; Variation II: the first appearance of the rag as a background to the blues as a 2' pedal solo; Variation III: a version of Variation I now involving manuals too; Variation IV: another blues solo against the rag; Variation V: another version of Variation I with the pedal solo almost entirely transferred to the manuals; Variation VI: a final confrontation between the blues and the rag, now much decorated. First performed in New York in April 1986. Duration c.15 mins. $19.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Keyboard SKU: SU.80101353 For Keyboard. Composed by Carson Cooman. Keyboard. Score. Zimbel Press #80101353. Published by Zimbel Press (SU.80101353). Keyboard Duration: 6' Composed: 2014 Published by: Zimbel Press Inspired by Bach's BWV 998 (a keyboard piece likely originally conceived for the lautenwerk or lute harpsichord), this piece may be played effectively on any keyboard instrument (organ, piano, harmonium/reed organ, harpsichord, clavichord, or electronic keyboard). The opening triple-meter prelude in Eb major is sunny and bright in character, with its arpeggiated textures evoking plucked strings. The fughetta begins in the relative minor (C), with a darker and more dissonantly chromatic character; however, it works through several keys to end in Eb major. The concluding allegro returns to joyous mood of the opening movement (though its middle section returns again to C minor). $10.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks
