Gabriel Pierné (1863-1937) was a French composer conductor and organist. Despite being predominantly remembered as a conductor his Canzonetta remains a recognised piece in the Clarinet repertoire. Pierné studied at the Paris Conservatoire before taking up the position of chief conductor for the concert series Concerts Colonne in 1910. He remained in the post until 1933 and during this time he notably conducted the world premiere of Igor Stravinsky's The Firebird. Pierné composed for a variety of instruments Canzonetta for Clarinet with Pianoaccompaniment being one of four solo works by the composer. This Pierné piece for Clarinet contains many characteristics typical of the French style such as lyrical melodies a significant number of performance directions flourishes of semiquavers chromaticism and many changes in dynamics. Canzonetta is a varied piece essential to the repertoire of aspiring clarinetists.

The thoroughly revised new edition aims at reviewing the educational concept, which is still valid today, for modern lessons, adjusting the music and texts, and sensibly complementing the teaching contents. The editor who draws on many years of experience as a clarinettist in an orchestra and university lecturer of clarinet has succeeded in adapting the valuable teaching material to the requirements of today while maintaining the basic methodology. The content of the text and the performance directions of the original were linguistically modernized and occasionally extended by further ideas from the teaching practice, such as concepts for warming up, breathing exercises, literature suggestions or tips for daily practising. Further additions of scale and triad studies in all major and minor keys make this method a comprehensive and thorough work of study which not only serves as teaching material for young and adult beginners, but is also a valuable compendium of scale exercises and studies for advanced musicians and is ideal for training velocity and dexterity. The tune books contain all performance pieces from the Clarinet Method Op. 63 by Carl Baermann for clarinet and piano. Thanks to the revised editions, they are now available as scores with inserted solo part for the first time. Sometimes referred to as the Stadler Quintet Clarinet Quintet KV 581 is Mozart's only completed Clarinet Quintet and was written in 1789 for the clarinetist Anton Stadler.   This idyllic flowing piece was originally written for basset Clarinet but is almost always played on a Clarinet in A or B-flat. It remains to this day one of the composer's most admired works.   The work is arranged here for Clarinet and Piano.  

Weber’s Concerto No.1 In F Minor Op.73 for Clarinet and Orchestra is a fantastic work and remains ever popular in the instrument's repertoire today. This is an exciting and demanding piece that will provide an enjoyable challenge for the accomplished clarinetist.This version is for Clarinet with Piano Accompaniment and has been revised and edited by Carl Barmann.
