F.A. Rosler (Antonio Rosetti), a Bohemian by birth, worked as court music director in Ludwigslust/Mecklenburg. He wrote 14 flute concertos altogether the most important of which is the concerto G major, Op. 14. The expanded head movement combines the sonata form with the ritornello technique of the concerto grosso. Right at the beginning, the basses of the Mannheimer-Walzermotiv make it clear that Rosler knows how to use effectively the orchestral technique of his time. Despite all motivic and thematic as well as harmonic abundance, -Rosler achieves in this concerto an almost natural musical unity.

Tell My Fortune is a concerto for orchestra that visits the dark world of gypsies and their methods of fortune telling. In Palm, the composer reads the lines, marks and patterns of a hand as though it were a musical staff. Peering into a crystal ball, Crystal features flute and alto flute in a haunting duet, with strings playing a rhythmic counterpoint and a percussion accompaniment of tuned crystal glasses and wind chimes. Card unfolds like a deck of tarot cards, shuffled and spread across a table. Duration - ca. 28:00.

Concerto for flute and orchestra. Study score edition. First performed at the Flanders Festival in Brussels 12th October 2001. Composer's Notes: I have been very familiar with the flute since my earliest pieces. I like the sound in which breathing is ever present and with timbral possibilities that befit my musical language: the instrument's body makes it possible to write phrases that go through grinding textures coloured with phonemes whispered by the flutist which gradually go towards pure and smooth sounds.
