Frederic Chopin's Piano Concertos in e minor op. 11 and f minor op. 21 were written when the composer had just barely entered his twenties. Since he needed effective, virtuoso works for his major concert appearances with orchestral accompaniment, he decided to simply write them himself. Although it is clear that the piano part always holds center stage in these pieces, Chopin never degrades the orchestra by turning it into a stereotypical cue-giver. This is confirmed by the imaginatively orchestrated tutti transition in the first movement, the lengthy string tremolo in the middle movement and the col legno passage in the finale. The first performance of the f-minor concerto took place in Warsaw on 17 March 1830. The first edition of the score was published in 1879 by Breitkopf & Hartel in Leipzig. The present edition for two pianos by Ignaz Friedmann was first issued in 1913 in the framework of the 12-volume Chopin edition for which the Polish pianist undertook a careful evaluation of the sources.Frederic Chopin's Piano Concertos in e minor op. 11 and f minor op. 21 were written when the composer had just barely entered his twenties.

Karl Kohaut (1726 - 1784) was an Austrian lutenist and composer of Czech descent, considered to be one of the last important composers of music for Baroque lute. Although also a violinist active in the Viennese music scene, he was most well-known as a lutenist. He composed a total of seven lute concertos during his lifetime, including this Concerto in F Major, No. 2 (not to be confused with his Concerto in F Major, No. 1, which is considered the most popular) in three movements: Allegro moderato, Andante molto, and Tempo di Minuetto. This edition includes the full orchestral score, orchestral parts, as well as guitar and lute parts. Victor Van Puijenbroeck has adapted the original solo part and included in the set are parts for both lute (the part has been adapted from lute tablature to modern notation) and guitar (capotasto). Instrumentation: Full Score, Guitar (or Lute) - separate parts included for each instrument, Violin I, Violin II, Cembalo/Cello/Contrabass.

Along with Symphonies Nos. 80 and 81, Haydn’s Symphony in F major Hob. I:79 belongs to a group of works that he composed in late 1784. He wrote them for his employer Prince Nikolaus Esterházy who wished to be entertained with new music. The symphonies were tailored for the twenty-five to thirty musicians who were in the prince’s court orchestra.Continuing the cooperation between Bärenreiter and the G. Henle publishing company regarding Haydn's large-scale choral works, operas and symphonies, this edition is based on the G. Henle Complete Edition of the “Works of Joseph Haydnâ€. Bärenreiter has already published the complete performance material for several “Sturm und Drang†symphonies and all the Paris and London symphonies.

After achieving sensational success with the musical Lady, be good!, with evergreens such as Fascinating Rhythm and The Man I love, as well as with his Rhapsody in Blue, Gershwin premiered his Concerto in F for piano and orchestra as a soloist at Carnegie Hall in 1925. Now, the new superstar of Broadway had also arrived at the center of New York's classical music scene. In its eventful history, the work went through numerous changes, cuttings, arrangements, many of which doubtful and unauthorized. Even the first and so far only printed orchestral score, edited by Frank Campbell-Watson, published in 1942 five years after Gershwin's death, contains many unauthorized interventions. Through years of research, editor Norbert Gertsch has succeeded in ridding the work of all unauthorized additions and alterations and thus reconstructing an Urtext in its original literal sense from the complex source material - from autograph sketches to early recordings. The first text-critical edition of the work is a joint production of Breitkopf (score/orchestral parts) and G. Henle Verlag (piano reduction).

German Baroque composer Johann Ludwig Krebs (1713 - 1780) was born in Buttelstedt and was sent to Leipzig to study with Johann Sebastian Bach. Considered one of Bach's finest students, many compositions of Krebs have been erroneously attributed to Bach. Krebs composed two concertos for lute and orchestra, including this Concerto in F Major in three movements: Allegro, Larghetto, and Allegro assai. This edition includes the full orchestral score, orchestral parts, as well as guitar and lute parts. Victor Van Puijenbroeck has adapted the original solo part and included in the set are parts for both lute (the part has been adapted from lute tablature to modern notation) and guitar (capotasto). Additionally, the solo parts feature two versions/interpretations. Instrumentation: Full Score, Guitar (or Lute) - separate parts included for each instrument, Violin I, Violin II, Viola, Cembalo/Cello/Contrabass.

Handel’s Concerto in F major (HWV 331) was long considered a variant of two movements from the three suites of his “Water Music†(HWV 348-350). Recently our understanding of the “Water Music†had to be thoroughly revised owing to new scholarly discoveries. Not only did the structure of the three suites prove to be unhistorical, but Friedrich Chrysander’s 19th-century view turned out to be correct: the two “variants†actually constitute an independent concerto. In musical terms, HWV 331 is related to two movements of the “Water Music†and is frequently performed alongside them. Now it is available for the first time in a performing edition based on the already revised volume of the “Halle Handel Editionâ€, which reflects the current state of scholarship concerning the complex source tradition of the “Water Music†and the Concerto HWV 331.
