SATB choir and keyboard, with optional string quartet - Intermediate SKU: MN....(+)
SATB choir and keyboard, with optional string quartet - Intermediate SKU: MN.56-0009 Composed by Howard Goodall. 21st Century. Choral score. MorningStar Music Publishers #56-0009. Published by MorningStar Music Publishers (MN.56-0009). UPC: 688670220098. English. This seven-minute SATB setting of a section of the 1640 text from the Bay Psalm Book takes wing like the birds it first mentions. What would normally be a somber litany of affliction is set to music that hints at eternal things and the saving power of God. The middle section “I said, ‘In the middle of my days, O my God, do not take away me†is set, amazingly, in Latin, which gives a wonderful contrast to the more lyrical beginning. The beginning material returns as the Latin text is now sung in English, concluding “Thy years throughout all ages are.†This music is sublime and transcendent. $3.70 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 24 hours - In Stock

Text language: German/English. The cantata Erforsche mich Gott und erfahre mein Herz BWV 136 was composed in Bach's first year as Kantor of St. Thomas's in Leipzig and was first performed on the 8th Sunday after Trinity, the 18th July 1723. The librettist is unknown. The title of the cantata is taken from verse 23 of Psalm 139: Erforsche mich Gott und erfahre mein Herz; prufe mich und erfahre, wie ich's meine. (Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts) The opening chorus forms an extended fugue, framed by string writing bursting with energy. The obbligato horn accentuates and enriches the movement with a special tonal color. The alto aria in F sharp minor (movement 3) comprises a trio movement with an oboe d'amore as solo instrument in a contrasting range - a presto middle section which dramatically charges the words Denn seines Eifers Grimm vernichtet (For the fury of its zeal will destroy). In the duet (movement 5) the text is sung by tenor and bass line by line, sometimes imitating contrapuntally, and sometimes both singing together dramatically in homophonic writing. A simple chorale setting to the melody Auf meinen lieben Gott concludes the cantata. Particularly charming here is the violin which joins the four vocal parts as an independent part. Score and parts available separately - see item CA.3113600. $22.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Organ SKU: AY.FRD106 Composed by Paul J. Sifler. Keyboards - Organ. Fredonia Press #FRD106. Published by Fredonia Press (AY.FRD106). ISBN 9790302117506. Paul J. Sifler, born in Ljubljana, Slovenia, immigrated to the United States at the age of 11, and following his studies at the Chicago Conservatory as music, led a long and prolific career as a composer and organist. The Despair and Agony of Dachau has been performed at the National Cathedral in Washington D.C. and in Sifler's native Ljubljana, performances which were preceded by a reading of Psalm 22. Phrases from the Psalm beginning My God, my God, why has Thou forsaken me? are used to depict the tragedy of the concentration camp at Dachau. Among the traumas represented are the furnaces, described by a mighty roar, the scurrying of rats and barking of dogs. This work was composed to provide a history lesson for the future, and to offer the fervent prayer that mankind will never again be involved in such an atrocity. $17.00 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 1 to 2 weeks

ATB vocal soli, SATB choir, orchestra SKU: CA.3113619 Cantata for the 8th Sunday after Trinity. Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Edited by Christiane Hausmann. This edition: urtext. Stuttgart Urtext Edition: Bach vocal. Complete orchestral parts. Sacred vocal music, Cantatas, Trinity. Set of Orchestra Parts. Composed 1723. BWV 136. Duration 22 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 31.136/19. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.3113619). ISBN 9790007172176. Language: German/English. Translation: Henry Drinker. Scripture: Matthew 7:15-23. $142.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks
