It is difficult to determine exactly how many oboe concertos Antonio Vivaldi wrote. Although the present Concerto in F major was earlier seen as a secure work by Vivaldi (therefore it has the old RV-number 458), Vivaldi's authorship got even more disputable (in contrast to the C major Concerto RV 446 MR 2294). The doubts cannot even be dispelled by the existence of two sources from a large collection in Lund, Sweden. The Adagio central movement deserves our particular attention, as it was transmitted in different versions in the two sources. In this first edition for oboe and piano, the non-ornamented version is given first and followed by the version supplied by editor Sandro Caldini with ornaments typical of Vivaldi's time, which make this version of the Adagio particularly interesting for performers. In this first edition for oboe and piano, the non-ornamented version is given first and followed by the version supplied by editor Sandro Caldini with ornaments typical of Vivaldi's time.

Al Valles, for oboe and piano, is a work that has two distinct characteristics-it is a concert work but was composed as a work for a final examination piece. The work is dedicated to Vicent Montalt, who performed it for his final examination at the Mozarteum in Saltzburg, 2012.Al Valles begins with a Paganini-like cadenza for the oboe which introduces the main feature of the work- the alternation of legato with spiccato which is at times rapid and at other times lento. The cadenza is followed by an Allegro which begins with decisiveness by the piano. The two instruments establish a game of brief and very specific rhythmic figures with rapid chromatic descents, which in the piano are in octaves. A tranquil and mysterious passage ends with a sudden fortissimo. The oboe plays another cadenza, reminiscent of the first one, which is followed by a return of the Allegro. However, this time the music stops on a trill on F # in the high register of the oboe. The work concludes with a rapid coda which begins brilliantly in the piano with chromatic descending octaves.

Bagpipers is the first movement of the three-movement Sonatina composed in 1915 (1. Bagpipers, 2.Bear Dance and 3. Finale). The composer said of the piece, ''Originally I planned a group of Romanianfolk dances for piano. I selected three parts of this and called it Sonatina. The first movement, Bagpipers[...] consists of two dances played by two bagpipers.'' The piece is based on a couple dance fromTransylvania, the ardeleana (also known as the kanászos), while the middle section was inspired bythe bagpipe playing of a middle-aged man recorded by Bartók in Váncsfalva (now Oncesti) of Bihar County during February 1910. In 1931, Bartók arranged it for symphony orchestraunder the title Dances from Transylvania. This arrangement for oboe and piano was made by Liszt Prize-winningoboist Tibor Szeszler (1919 1992).

Andante for oboe and piano was found only after the composers death in 2014. According to his private notes discovered by his family, it was written in 1951, which means that it is one of its earliest compositions. This one-part work, set in neoromantic aesthetics, is based on two themes. The first one - in D Minor - initially appears in the piano part, and then it is captured by the oboe. It puts a listener in a tranquil, sentimental mood. The second one - in D Major - is livelier and jollier (piu mosso), though in terms of melodic motifs some of its fragments come closer to the first theme in a form of its variation-style development. This is capped by a solo cadenza of the oboe that leads to the recapitulation of the first theme and the following tranquil, cantilena-style coda. Jozef Swiders Andante for oboe and piano, despite its charming simplicity, is a work full of reverie, nostalgia and subtle melancholy. This proves the young composer's liking for clarity, lyricism and romantic expression, typical of his late artistic work.

“Elegia is a small piece for Oboe and Piano accompaniment by Nino Rota. Really lyrical, its medium difficulty will enable intermediate players to execute it, for a recital or for a contest. This lovely work is quite slow, nostalgic at some points and ends up on a perfect harmony between the two instruments. Nino Rota (1911-1979) is an Italian composer and conductor, particularly known for his works on film music. He also composed 5 ballets, 10 orchestras as well as numerous music chamber works, including a string concerto.&rdquo.

Inch....this work is likely to become a standart work very quickly and is to be recommended to all schools where recorder studies are undertaken inch. (Oliver James,Contact Magazine) A novel and comprehensive approach to transferring from the C to F instrument. 430 music examples include folk and national songs (some in two parts), country dance tunes and excerpts from the standard treble repertoire ofBach, Barsanti, Corelli, Handel, Telemann, etc. An outstanding feature of the book has proved to be Brian Bonsor's brilliantly simple but highly effective practice circles and recognition squares designed to give, in only a few minutes, concentrated practice on the more usual leaps to and from each new note and instant recognition of random notes. Quickly emulating the outstanding success of the descant tutors, these books are very popular even with those who normally use tutors other than the Enjoy the Recorder series.

This title is taken from Dvorak. However. The models from which the songs are derived are clearly identifiable, as are the composers from whose language they have been derived. The piece appears to be in one movement though it is in fact two with a coda. The first is French in style, a sort of Waltz. It is quick and harks upon the likes of Francaix and where its idiom becomes more advanced, Messaien. The other is Germanic, a slow movement with echoes of German expressionism - perhaps Richard Strauss, perhaps Mahler. The two movements are partly complete; the cod reconciles their differences and completes them. I see the piece as my own version of En blanc et noir.
