László Vidivszky's work entitled Soft Errors (1989) might be described as a serendipitous find: as a result of a 'chance computer event', from the fragments of music it contained Vidovszky's computer created a sequence, and the computer's owner 'merely' instrumented this. From the bare sound and intellectual, indeed comic elements there emerges the characteristic voice that may be styled as 'Vidovszky's peculiar melancholy'. The premiere of the work took place in October 1989 in Budapest, it was performed by the Componenensemble, conducted by Zsolt Serei.

Béla Bartók's Mikrokosmos series contains 153 progressive piano pieces published across six volumes by Editio Musica Budapest. The series, which was written between 1926 and 1939, starts with very easy beginner etudes and progresses to difficult advanced technical displays, and remains an essential part of modern piano lessons and education. The word Mikrokosmos may be interpreted as a series of pieces in many different styles, representing a small world. Or it may be interpreted as world of the little ones, the children.

Trance means an altered state of mind in which a person becomes capable of communicating with spirits by the means of a ritual. Echo like sounds have a significant role in the piece, they were achieved by aleatoric as well as metric materials. Our prehistoric ancestors experienced echo as a side effect of rituals they performed, basically they heard the echo of their own voices but they believed these sounds came from their ancestors. As 2013 was the 90th anniversary of Gyorgy Ligeti's birth, my piece pays respect to his musical heritage. In this regard the piece references Ligeti's artistic aesthetics and in some cases uses direct musical quotations.(Mate Bella, 2013)The work won first prize at the 2013 New Hungarian Music Forum In memoriam Gyorgy Ligeti composer's competition in chamber music category. It was premiered by Katalin Kokas and the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Gergely Vajda on 25 September 2013 in Budapest.

Liszt was one of the greatest piano virtuosos of the 19th century and a very influential teacher who played an enormous part in the development of modern piano technique. For this reason the majority of his works make the highest technical demands of the performer - this selection, however, contains only pieces at an intermediate difficulty level. In addition to the hits (D flat major Consolation, Liebestraum No. 3) the moderately advanced student or amateur player will discover real finds such as the three pieces in the Bunte Reihe ( Colourful Series ), the earlier version of the Valse impromptu and the Romance oubliée ( Forgotten Romance ) and the later, simplified versionthe composer made of the i>Grand galop chromatique. This publication was based on the EMB New Liszt Edition, but bearing practical considerations in mind. Playing - is just playing. It requires a great deal of freedom and initiative from the performer. On no account should the written image be taken seriously but the written image must be taken extremely seriously as regards the musical process, the quality of sound and silence.

The piece was written originally for equal voice choir in 1929. A mixed-choir adaptation was made in 1961 at the request of Oxford University Press. This appeared in print in the same year with an English text under the title A Christmas Carol in a collection of Christmas songs, as well as in a separate print. The musical material of the mixed-choir version largely follows the original. There is one essential difference in verse 5, beginning at bar 35 ( Babe all holy ) where the tenor solo appears with a delightful eight-bar countermelody not found in the original. Since this version only appeared in Kodály s lifetime with an English text, this has been retained, but we havealso provided the original Hungarian text upon which the equal voice version is based. Zoltán Kodály s complete choral works for mixed voices were published in a new, extended, edition in 2018 (Z. 6725 and Z. 6725A). ABRSM Cello Syllabus title - Grade 7.Gabor Lisznyay Szabo (1913-1981) was a pupil of Ernst von Dohnanyi at the Music Academy in Budapest and he later worked for decades as an organist. The years he spent studying in Belgium left a significant mark on his composition style. His work entitled Autumn also captures the French essence: the cello's flowing melody is reminiscent of the noblest chansons and filled with emotion, and as such it is akin to the Adagio that Zoltan Kodaly wrote for cello during his younger years as a composer.

'In publishing this collection of choral works we think with gratitude of our fellow countryman, Ferenc Liszt, one of those who have energized Hungarian musical life. We are conscious of a great debt, which we would like to repay at least in part. We are obliged to do so by Hungarian, European and universal musical culture, but perhaps even more by respect for Hungarian traditions and our duty to preserve them. Hence this publication, the seven works in which are appearing now in print for the first time in Hungary, and for the same reason this collection contains a complete list of Liszt's choral works.' The composer Péter Andorka (born 1987) studied under Miklós Kocsár and Miklós Csemiczky at the Bartók Secondary School of Music and under János Vajda at the Liszt Academy of Music, both in Budapest. Apart from solo, chamber and orchestral works, several vocal compositions of his (oratorios and choral works) have been performed, and he has also composed for the stage. The Three Liturgical Chants to Latin texts were composed for six-part female choir in 2009. The text of the first piece (Lux aeterna) comes from the mass for the dead, that of the second (Laudate Dominum) from Psalm 116 (117 in many English translations), and that of the third (Adoro te devote) from a hymn by StThomas Aquinas, whose Gregorian chant is also incorporated into the work. The euphony and elaborate part-writing of the Three Liturgical Chants place a serious task before choirs, particularly in terms of intonation. Especially the wide compass of Lux aeterna requires a professional choir. The pieces in the cycle can be purchased separately (Z. 14941, 14942 and 14943).
