Garrop's brass quintet describes the daily journey of the sun god, Helios, as he crosses the sky, then sleeps through the night in a golden boat which carries him back to the beginning. As such, her soundscape ...begins with a fast and fiery sunrise and ends in a serene, sunset mood. Helios was commissioned by the Gaudete Brass Quintet, who also recorded the work on Chicago Moves (Cedille label). Of all the music on the disc, this one is so well played, it stood out as one of my favorites. (quotes from John J. Puccio, Classical Candor) For advanced performers. | The Barber of Seville Soli, Mixted choir and accompaniment Barenreiter
Soloists, Choir, Orchestra (singing voice, choir, Orchestra) SKU: BA.BA10506-...(+)
Soloists, Choir, Orchestra (singing voice, choir, Orchestra) SKU: BA.BA10506-01 Commedia in due atti (comedy in two acts). Composed by Gioachino Rossini. Edited by Patricia B. Brauner. This edition: Edition of selected works, Urtext edition. Linen. Works of Gioachino Rossini, Volume 2. Edition of selected works, Score. Baerenreiter Verlag #BA10506_01. Published by Baerenreiter Verlag (BA.BA10506-01). ISBN 9790006552009. 33 x 26 cm inches. Text Language: Italian. Text: Sterbini, Cesare. Barenreiter's publication of a new volume of theWorks of Gioachino Rossini, in collaboration with the Center for Italian Opera Studies at the University of Chicago, makes available an edition of the operaIl barbiere di Sivigliawhich meets modern demands. The editors have recently identified numerous carelessly edited places in the last critical edition by referring to additional sources. The greatest changes relate to the overture; for the new edition, no fewer than twenty different autograph manuscripts have been consulted. A detailed appendix containing alternative vocal parts, advice on ornamentation and compositions by Rossini significant in the performance history of the opera complete the volume. A 420-page Critical Commentary is published separately. With this, a critical edition is now available to interpreters, enabling them to perform Rossini's ,,Barber of Sevillewith the greatest possible confidence in the accuracy of the musical material. The performance material is available on hire, and a vocal score will be published at the end of 2009. Through 1829 Rossini was an extraordinarily prolific composer of operas, comic, serious, and semiserious, in Italian and French, as well as of a great deal of vocal and instrumental music. He composed sacred music, vocal treatises, cantatas. Then, for many different reasons, he wrote very little music for more than twentyfive years, if we except some songs and the ' Stabat Mater' . Only after he left Italy definitively for Paris in 1855 did he find his voice again. Between 1857 and 1868 a fresh group of masterpieces issued from his pen, the so-called ' Peches de vieillesse' (Sins of Old Age), including chamber music, songs, and the 'Petite Messe Solennelle'. Philip Gossett, General Editor of Works of Gioachino Rossini, is the Robert W. Reneker Distinguished Service Professor at The University of Chicago and a professordi chiara famaat the University of RomeLa Sapienza. He is also general editor of The Works of Giuseppe Verdi. Barenreiter in cooperation with the Center for Italian Opera Studies at The University of Chicago will publish ten volumes in the series Works of Gioachino Rossini, in critical editions, during the period 2007-2011. These are all volumes that were not issued in theEdizione critica delle opere di Gioachino Rossini.

Organ - Advanced SKU: MN.10-927 Composed by Morgan Simmons. Non Hymn-Based, Recital Music. Instrumental part. MorningStar Music Publishers #10-927. Published by MorningStar Music Publishers (MN.10-927). Cityscape dates from 1992 and was composed for inclusion in an organ recital of Chicago composers as part of the Fourth Presbyterian Church's annual Festival of the Arts. The theme of that year's festival was Faces of the City. This three movement work, which depicts facets of the city, is based on a three-note descending scale (C-B-A), the opening notes of the popular song, Chicago, Chicago, that Toddlin' Town. Coincidentally, this same melodic sequence marks the beginning of OLD HUNDREDTH, and a citation of that melody occurs in the third movement. The Fourth Presbyterian Church is located on the part of North Michigan Avenue which is known as The Magnificent Mile. Each of its Sunday morning services begins with the singing of OLD HUNDREDTH, sung to the text of the Doxology. The first performance of Cityscape was played by David Schrader, to whom it is dedicated. $7.50 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 1 to 2 weeks | | |

Life has loveliness to sell, All beautiful and splendid things, Blue waves whitened on a cliff, Soaring fire that sways and sings, And children's faces looking up Holding wonder in a cup. Life has loveliness to sell, Music like a curve of gold, Scent of pine trees in the rain, Eyes that love you, arms that hold, And for your spirit's still delight, Holy thoughts that star the night. Spend all you have for loveliness, Buy it and never count the cost; For one white singing hour of peace Count many a year of strife well lost, And for a breath of ecstacy Give all you have been, or could be. --Barter from Love Songs (1918) by Sara Teasdale Sara Teasdale (1884-1933) was an American poet whose short, personal lyrics are noted for their classical simplicity and quiet intensity. Teasdale was born in St. Louis, Missouri and traveled to Chicago as a young woman, where she grew acquainted with Harriet Monroe and the literary circle around Poetry. Teasdale wrote seven books of poetry in her lifetime and received public admiration for her well-crafted lyrical poetry which centered on a woman's changing perspectives of beauty, love, life, and death. Jacob Narverud (b. 1986) is an American composer, arranger, and conductor. A native Kansan, Jacob is the Founder/Artistic Director of the Tallgrass Chamber Choir, a professional ensemble of musicians from across the Great Plains. Dr. Narverud is a frequent guest lecturer at universities and conferences as well as an active guest conductor/clinician for choral festivals and all-state choirs across the United States.
