Balkanya, a suite in three parts composed by Jan Van der Roost, was commissioned by the Music School of Gaillon - Aubevoye (France) for the celebration of the twentieth anniversary of its creation. Jan Van der Roost dedicated the piece to the director of the school: Thierry Patel. As in his earlier work, Puszta, the composer makes no use of existing dances or themes in these three Balkan dances. This high-spirited suite takes its own approach to the folk music of the Balkan countries and is characterized by unique changes in tempo and spirit.

Literally translated, the libretto is a little book, a little book. But not just any book. The textbooks have been around for aslong as operas have existed. Often the universal language of music and the expressions of the performers tell the story, even if onedoes not understand the words. Even so, a libretto is very helpful in understanding the details. Especially then, and almost always, when the opera is performed in the original language. In the librettos, the original is usually juxtaposed with the translation. Youcan easily follow the plot and the content in parallel. In most cases the opera textbook exists before the music is composed. Exciting and dramatic stories form the basis for fascinating opera compositions.

Gian Paolo Luppi: AlcorMarco Reghezza: Fuga DodecatonaleAlessandro Spazzoli: Sarabanda all'albaRoberto Tagliamacco: Concerto per la notte di CorelliIn 2013, to celebrate the second centenary of the death of Arcangelo Corelli, I played in an official concert held in his memory in Fusignano, his hometown. Corelli did not write for the guitar, but a few of his compositions were transcribed by some contemporary guitarist and certainly his name has always been associated in the history of music with the theme of the very famous <> (although the origins of this theme go back a long way before Corelli). In the guitar repertoire, well-known cycles of variations on this theme exist. My long history of friendship and working together with important Italian composers has made it possible for me to build a concert program with some new guitar compositions dedicated to Corelli, to which others have been added. They are all together in this anthology, with the exceptions of Corelliana by Davide Anzaghi, Per Arcangelo by Gilberto Cappelli and Corelliana Seconda by Paolo Ugoletti, published separately. The cover picture, specially created by Norma Lutzemberger for this publication, celebrates this meeting between the modern guitar and Arcangelo Corelli.(Piero Bonaguri)

This lovely arrangement of a brief, but artfully crafted movement from one of Mozart's masterworks is highly recommended for intermediate singers. With only a short phrase in Latin to learn, plenty of opportunities exist for exploring melodic stress and dynamic contrast in the rehearsal setting. Lilting and lyrical.

Michael Haydn composed three of his masses in honor of the holy archangels - St Michael, St Gabriel, and the Raphaelismesse in honor of St Raphael now published. By avoiding the use of vocal soloists, it is one of the genre of Missa in pieno. Four trumpets and two ad lib oboe parts added later by the composer give the work a festive sound in the baroque tradition. At the same time, elements of the 'sensitive style' feature too. The Gloria and Credo exist in two settings, a short version with polytextual passages and a longer version arranged by Haydn himself. The Carus edition, based on authentic performance material in St. Peter's Monastery in Salzburg, contains both versions, with the longer version published here for the first time. Score and part available separately - see item CA.5408700.

Stuff is the first of four recital pieces commissioned by and dedicated to 78 adventure-seeking tubists representing 30 states and three countries, who fearlessly joined the 2001 Solstice/Equinox Commissioning Consortium. As each solstice and equinox approached during the year 2001, a new piece was sent out to the participants. All four pieces (Stuff, High Autumn, Just a Thought and Endorphins) now exist in multiple versions for orchestral and band instruments and are programmed frequently at conferences and on student and faculty recitals throughout the year.

Here is a brief description of this very fine new work The Secret of Ben Sogen for Trombone and Piano by the composer, Elizabeth Raum: I've always been fascinated by the Nordic heroes that appear in comic books and video games like Thor or Odin. Years ago, I wrote a concerto for tuba called The Legend of Heimdall inspired by Scandinavian folklore, and for this new work for trombone, I found myself drawn to the Danish mythical character, Ben Sogen. My concept was to conjure up a video game champion who goes through various adventures to achieve his final quest. However, the Secret of Ben Sogen is that he doesn't exist. I made him up. My original title was Bone Quest, a pun on the word, trombone, combined with Quest but that didn't evoke the image I wanted so I decided to create a character from the Danish translation of Bone Quest. Thus Ben Sogen. The Hero Trombonist has a theme stated in the beginning, and this motif continues through a variety of backgrounds (or adventures) before the final major key of his goal being achieved. The work is about 7 minutes in length and appropriate for advanced performers.

Composer Note: I treat the piano as an instrument in no way different from others in the rich music collection. On the one hand, I feel excitedabout, for instance, the possibility to write something in a style of a piano concerto, on the other - I have some doubts about shedding new light or sparking significant impulses from that great three-legged animal without hitting the obvious. But there does exist something lighter - a play, a game, a distorting mirror, reflecting a noble appearance of a fatso. Not refined games, but volatile and smooth treatment of the matter. Not a game on wedges, but in trainers. A wink of an eye at an obese instrument arousing emotions in the listeners and sufferings in young music lovers practising scales and passages. A remedy for continuing to compose for the piano may be a conscious “anti-activity”, presenting current artistic achievements for this instrument as if in a distorting mirror.

“Contains La Campanella, Op.7 and Moto Perpetuo, Op.11. Niccolò Paganini gave the premiere performance of his Second Violin Concerto at La Scala in Milan, 1827. The success of the performance was such that the last movement of the concerto was repeated. The subtitle of this movement is 'La Campanella' (The little bell) because of the sound the harmonics in this work produce. Paganini known for his pyrotechnics uses double harmonics and left hand pizzicato lavishly in this movement. Moto Perpetuo is one of Paganini's most popular works. Dozens of transcriptions exist for a variety of instruments, from marimba to double bass, as well as for orchestra, where all first violins play the solo part. The 3,032 sixteenth notes in this four-minute composition require formidable skill and endurance from the performer.”.

Teach Yourself Chords and Progressions with CD by Paul J. Newman is not a compendium of every conceivable chord in every possible position; nor does it attempt to be an encyclopedia of the infinite number of chord progressions which might exist. Our aim is to describe and illustrate chords and progressions in a practical context so that guitar players can use them in the same manner of the artists who inspire them. There is certainly enough appropriate material throughout for your own original inventions; but simply mastering the content will qualify as a worthy goal. To follow is a sampling of some of the lessons on progressions you'll receive; The Major Triad - The Minor Triad - Seventh Chords - Pentatonic Minor Progressions - 6th and 9th Chords - Suspended and Added Chords - Barre Chord Workout - Augmented and Diminished Chords - Open String Combinations.

“There is one body and one Spirit--just as you were called to one hopewhen you were called-- one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God andFather of all, who is over all and through all and in all.” Ephesians4:4-6There are those who claim that many paths exist that lead to whomeverwe believe or define God to be. However, we do not define God - Hedefines us. And there is only ONE path to the Father and it isclearly marked by a bloodstained cross and an empty tomb. Those who claim the Master are reborn into a bloodline that does nottrace its origin to a culture - but to a cross. . .does not dependupon what we bring - but upon what He freely gives . . .not based intrying to know about God - but actually knowing God.“Yes - we know that there is only one God, the Father, who createdeverything, and we live for Him. And there is only one Lord, JesusChrist, through whom God made everything and through whom we havebeen given life.” 1 Corinthians 8:6“I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God forthe salvation of everyone who believes . . .” Romans 1:16.
