This trilingual arrangement was envisioned for use during the Preparation of the Gifts at the Evening Mass of Holy Thursday. It would also be useful throughout the liturgical year whenever themes of love, charity, and service feature prominently in the Lectionary, as well as at wedding and anniversary liturgies.The choral parts underneath the verse and the optional parts for C instrument and cello help add color and variety. However, the hymn could be led by cantor and piano alone. When used during the Preparation of the Gifts, the optional coda allows flexibility to tailor the music to the length of the rite.

This 'Air' comes from Bach’s Orchestral Suite No.3 in D major. Its popular title 'Air on the G String' is from an arrangement for violin and piano by the great German violinist August Wilhelmj who played most of the melody notes on the “G” string of the violin. This arrangement for piano will be an ideal piece for use during wedding services.

A transcription for brass quintet of the Paul Manz organ setting on the tune Liebster Jesu, wir sind hier, the melody is beautifully ornamented and almost takes on a new life of its own. The french horn is assigned the cantus firmus for the most part. The piece is perfectly suited for this instrumentation, which provides a flexible, fluid quality to the hymn tune.
