The German Dance No. 12 is the final work in a series Beethoven wrote in 1795. The dances predate his monumental symphonies and show a young Beethoven writing in his earlier Classical style. This arrangement retains the original key of C Major and includes much of the material from his extended coda section. It is a very approachable selection that works classical bowings and style, without too much technical difficulty. Optional 8va notes are given for advancing players.

Learning to recognize and interpret some of the most commonly used jazz figures. Developing a feel for swing. Developing facility and technique. Developing transpositional skills. The performer is encouraged to also use the duets for sight singing, studying the II/V7 and other formulaic patterns and in actual performance situations.
