A sensational discovery was made in 1988 when two sheets containing 60 additional measures of the celebrated Rondo K. 371 were found. Robert Levin filled in not only this movement, but also the equally fragmentary Konzertsatz K. 370b that belongs to it. The preface reads in parts like a crime novel when Levin relates how he put together the various parts, supplemented them and orchestrated them in a Mozartian manner. It is to his flair and intuition that we owe the recovery of Mozart's Horn Concerto No. 0, written in 1781. It is a truly valuable addition to the repertoire, which is further enhanced by Levin's imaginative cadenza suggestions, from which every horn player can create his own original cadenza.Edition for horn and piano by Christian R. Riedel with cadenzas and lead-ins by Robert D. Levin.

The concerto was inspired by István Várdai's play and is dedicated to him. The triple movement structure and the character of the movements follow the patterns of classical concertos, while the thematic connections spanning the movements rather reflect the structural principles of Romantic symphonies. In the first movement, which resembles the form of a sonata, the characters of the themes are spectacularly separated. The motif of the main theme, constructed with glissandos, is supplemented by a theme the composer refers to as a motif of fate, and the two together form a significant contrast with the minor theme with its lyrical tone and the playful, ending themeresembling a children's song. The contrasts between depth and height, as well as darkness and light, have a significant role in all three movements. The music of the first movement gradually rises to increasingly bright and higher regions, the gloomy atmosphere of the marginal parts in the second movement is offset by the tune's transcendental light in its central part, while the rondo theme of the third movement with its 6/8 metre dance-like character is supplemented with motifs of a contrasting nature from the earlier movements.

Cello Concerto was composed by Thomas Agerfeldt Olesen in 2015. Written to Nicolas Altstaedt on commission from Arhus Symfoniorkester and Die Duisburger Philharmoniker with support from The Danish Arts Foundation First perfomance in Arhus Sept 24, 2015. Programme note: This concerto contains a lot of technical and structural stuff that I have forgotten all about now. Without it though, the piece would have been a big mess of emotions, since it was written while my family and I were taking care of my mother as she was terminally ill. I recognize it having become a kind of rondo. The music wanted a place to return to, and perhaps it is due to the fact that my mother was alwayssomeone I could return to when everything else was exploding. In the end, the rondo dies and the music goes somewhere else, like all mothers.

“Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's (1756-1791) Flute Concerto in D is an adaptation of the original Oboe Concerto in C, which the composer reworked in 1778. The Concerto remains widely studied and performed on both instruments, making it one of the more important Concerti in the woodwind repertoire. Concerto in D is in three movements; 1. Allegro aperto, 2. Adagio non troppo, and 3. Rondo: Allegretto. The first and last movements are in the tonic key, whilst the second movement is in the subdominant key of G major. A Dutch flautist of the time, Ferdinand de Jean, commissioned Mozart for four Flute quartets and three Flute concerti. However, the composer, who famously disliked the Flute, only completed three quartets and one concerto. Instead of composing a second concerto, Mozart rearranged his Oboe Concerto, with substantial changes for it to fit with the Flute. De Jean did not approve, yet the Concerto in D for Flute remains as popular to this day as the Concerto in C for Oboe.â€.
