Brass Band - Grade 2.5 SKU: BT.GOB-000821-130 Arranged by Menno Haantjes....(+)
Brass Band - Grade 2.5 SKU: BT.GOB-000821-130 Arranged by Menno Haantjes. Score Only. 6 pages. Gobelin Music Publications #GOB 000821-130. Published by Gobelin Music Publications (BT.GOB-000821-130). Whereas ‘Auld Lang Syne’ may be considered the best-known Scottish song ever, yet at the same time it is an obscure one, for there are but few people who know the complete text by heart. After the familiar ‘Should auld acquaintance be forgot .....‘ many people take their refuge to lyrics like ‘rum tee dum ta dee ..... lah, lah, lah ........... for auld lang syne’. Even in Scotland only a handful of persons know the entire text and are able to give a correct rendering of it. The current lyrics have been attributed to the Scottish poet Robert Burns. Burns, however, he did not write the whole poem : after he had heard an old man sing the centuries-old Scotchballad, he wrote it down and added a number of stanzas (1788). Historical research teaches us that the ballad served many purposes, both political and religious. Nowadays, ‘Auld Lang Syne’ is sung as a Christmas Carol and it is also sung on New Year’s Eve at the turning of the year. Apart from that, though, the song is also sung on many other occasions sometimes with different lyrics, which usually have Love, Friendship and/or Parting as their themes, as these go well with the fascinating melody. In this arrangement a low-sounding solo instrument is central. The harmonization in the accompaniment fits in perfectly with the sentiments this song will evoke. Should auld acquaintance be forgot And never brought to mind? Should auld acquintance be forgot. And days of auld lang syne? For auld lang syne, my dear, For auld lang syne, We’ll take a cup of kindness yet, For auld lang syne.
Misschien wel het meest bekende Schotse lied, maar tegelijkertijd ook het minst bekende, er zijn er maar weinig mensen die de tekst mee kunnen zingen. Na het bekende ‘Should auld acquaintaintance be forgot and .....‘ vervallenvelen in ‘rum tee dum ta dee ..... lah, lah, lah ........... for auld lang syne’.

Cello and Piano SKU: HL.14016246 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arrang...(+)
Cello and Piano SKU: HL.14016246 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Hugo Cole. Music Sales America. Classical. Book [Softcover]. Music Sales #NOV120308. Published by Music Sales (HL.14016246). 8.25x11.75x0.054 inches. It is a surprising fact of Beethoven's life that of all the categories of pieces he composed, there are more settings of Irish songs than of any other type of music. Scottish poet Robert Burns convinced a Scottish music publisher to commission Beethoven to set his own words to Irish airs. The death of Burns in 1796 ended the project, but Beethoven went on to harmonise and arrange the songs in 1814 through 1816, mainly, and they were published, though never achieved as great a popularity as a rival set by Thomas Moore. This simplified version for easy Cello and Piano was arranged by composer Hugo Cole, an accomplished cellist who was for many years a music critic for theGuardian newspaper. $6.00 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Female Voices (SSSAA A Cappella) SKU: HL.48025441 SSSAA a cappella. Composed by James Macmillan. Edited by Sarah Tenant-Flowers. BH Secular Choral. A Cappella, Choral, Classical. Octavo. Duration 420 seconds. Boosey & Hawkes #M060150098. Published by Boosey & Hawkes (HL.48025441). ISBN 9781835680025. UPC: 196288216407. In its original scoring for mixed voices MacMillan's The Gallant Weaver has become a favourite; this arrangement now extends the setting to upper voices. Paul Spicer comments, 'This ideal introduction to MacMillans secular choral music is rich in Scottish flavour, appropriate to its Robert Burns text. Characteristic vocal elements are the ornamental inflections drawn from Scottish folk music and Gaelic psalmody, and the overall mood is one of tranquillity.' The poem celebrates love and the joys of nature: '... While birds rejoice in leafy bowers; While bees delight in opning flowers; While corn grows green in simmer showers, I love my gallant Weaver.'. $4.95 - See more - Buy online
