David Well composed 'Frida's Whiskers' in commemoration of his own cat, who met an untimely end.
Frida (whose real name was 'Godefrida van Coopersburg thoe Nieuwenhuys') was a lively creature, who led a playful and uncomplicated life.
She used to sleep in her basket for hours, but when she woke up she upset the entire house and its furnishing.
Curtains were inspected from top to bottom and flower pots fell from window-sills just like that!
Outside, in the open air she was in her element. She used to frolic, bouncing into the air.
After such playful moods she would return to her basket tired but satisfied where, being the cleanly cat that shewas, she subjected her entire body, whiskers included, to a thorough wash.

Zo kon ze vaak urenlang in haar mand liggen te slapen tot op zeker moment het complete huis en haar inrichting onveilig gemaakt werden.
Gordijnen werden van onder tot boven ge?nspecteerd en bloempottenvielen pardoes uit de vensterbank.
In de buitenlucht was ze in haar element. Ze sprong soms met alle poten tegelijk de lucht in.
Na een speelse bui keerde ze moe maar voldaan terug in haar mand waar, zo proper alsze was, het hele lichaam, inclusief snorharen, aan een grondige wasbeurt werden onderworpen.

In 1856, the year in which Mozart's one-hundredth birthday was elaborately celebrated, Franz Lachner composed the Requiem in F minor op. 146. It became his most well-known and most important work. Lachner's intensive study of Mozart's music on the occasion of the commemorative year lends credence to that fact that it was not inspired by a personal loss, such as a death in the family or among his friends. Although closer examination proves that his music differed essentially from Mozart's, Lachner's work shows a clear expression of his admiration for him. The parallels between the two Requiems range from the characteristics of the organization of the text and the formal structure, to the similar treatment of individual sections, themes and motives. This spirited march commemorates the U.S. Navy's first African-American officers, known as the Golden Thirteen. While traditional in form, the work cleverly incorporates fragments of Anchors Aweigh while the trio section is based on the spiritual Nobody Knows the Trouble I've Seen. A perfect concert or contest march that is equally appropriate for Veterans Day or Black History Month.

Free World Fantasy was commissioned in Holland for celebrations commemorating the liberation of Groningen, and therefore symbolises the dream of a world without war. It is the first piece of a series in which composer, Jacob de Haan, combines concert band music with a pop style.

Het is het eerste werk uit een reeks waarin Jacob deHaan amusementsmuziek en serieuze muziek vermengd tot een muziekstijl die aan filmmuziek doet denken.

Dieses Werk komponierte Jacob de Haan 1987 im Auftrag der niederländischen Provinz Groningen anlässlich des Befreiungstages. Die Musik symbolisiert den Traum von einer Welt ohne Krieg.
