Brass Band - Grade 3 SKU: BT.GOB-000401-130 Composed by Saskia Apon. Score Only. 30 pages. Gobelin Music Publications #GOB 000401-130. Published by Gobelin Music Publications (BT.GOB-000401-130). The composition the Lonesome Knight was based on a fairytale. The piece was written by Saskia Apon for the National Brass Band Championships 2001.
Once upon a time there was a knight who went to fight and defeat the dragon that had beenkilling the people of his town. There is a short but intense battle between the two and the knight is triumphant. However whilst persuing the dragon the knight has travelled far away from his home and now is lost. He roames around trying to findhis way home, but exhausted and weary he falls to the ground. He awakens startled by a Giant and a group of Goblins who are celebrating the death of the dragon. The knight joins in the festivities but after a long evening is once more leftalone. The sun rises the following morning and he sees a castle on the horizon. He enthousiastcally ventures towards the castle in the hope of meeting other people. However he becomes greatly disillusioned when there is none to be found. Inhis desperation the knight climbs the tower ready to jump off. Suddenly he hears a heavenly voice. Right before him is the most beautiful princess he has ever seen. She graciously thanks him for killing the dragon, a spark ingnites between themand they build a life together and.... live happily ever after!
Saskia Apon studied harp at Rotterdam School of music. With this instrument she rounded of her studies by passing with credit, however it was her love of composition thatremained her focus. Self-taught, she began composing at the age of nine. Since then she has written pieces for The Dutch Brass Quintet, The Dutch Brass Ensemble, The Rotterdam Trombone Quartet and the brass band quintet Brass Ability. Atpresent she is the in-house arranger for The Rotterdam Philarmonic Brass Ensemble. Besides the customary attention for the real splashworks she endeavours to add value to the melodic function of the brass wind instruments in her music. Performance NotesA long, long time ago, dragons roamed the countryside and tormented the towns. Our hero has always dreamed about not killing a dragon but riding one. When the hero ï¬nds the dragon, it terrifyingly shrieks out warnings. Eventually, the dragon lays down and allows our hero to climb on. Then, we hear as the dragon magically flies with our hero on board. The dragon's shriek themes are still present, but are beautiful now, instead of scary. Having ridden the beautiful creature, our hero triumphantly returns to the village.Conductor NotesThis piece has many tricky accidentals in both keys. When the key changes are on a line break in a part, courtesy accidentals have been added. The conductor may want to explain that courtesy accidentals mean take note of the key signature. The dragon shriek solos (mm. 39–47) should be performed as raucously and loudly as possible. A superball mallet is a rubber bouncy ball on a stick; these can be purchased online. The mallet is rubbed on the instrument to create vibrations. You might also experiment using a superball mallet on the inside of a grand piano plate to be played simultaneously. Feel free to lengthen these measures (41 and 46) and get creative to make your dragon sounds last longer and be as loud and scary as possible. Perhaps these instruments could be staged in front of the band. Trombone & Piano SKU: SU.32040021 For Trombone & Piano. Composed b...(+)
Trombone & Piano SKU: SU.32040021 For Trombone & Piano. Composed by Amy Riebs Mills. Brass, Trumpet. Accompanied by piano. Score & Parts. Subito Music Corporation #32040021. Published by Subito Music Corporation (SU.32040021). Trombone & Piano Duration: 17' Composed: 2013 Published by: Amy Mills Music, LLC …the audience loved Red Dragonfly. Definitely a keeper in my repertoire! Dr. James Bicigo, Associate Professor of Trombone, University of Alaska, Anchorage Virtuoso piece, the dramatic first movement opens with a Bold statement followed by the beautiful love theme. It reaches up to the Cry of the Heart, then everything ruptures and crashes. Now the trombonist must rebuild and gain strength through dramatic cadenzas until reaching the recapitulation where the opening Bold melody is transformed into a majestic march in 3/4 time. The love theme returns, and the movement ends in triumph. The second movement is a setting of the famous Japanese folksong, Red Dragonfly. The trombonist and pianist play the lovely song amidst the sound of fluttering wings that appear and disappear like memories of the heart. Thank you to the Nihon Gakugeki Kyoukai Foundation for permission to use the melody in this trombone sonata. A solo glissando opens the third movement in American folk dance style with tongue in cheek and twinkle in both eyes. The subsequent variations include a perfect triple canon, a taste of New Orleans jazz, and a dramatic augmentation which spills into a flashback of the first movement’s love theme. This melts away and we recapture a glimpse of the Red Dragonfly melody, this time growing to the Triumphant restatement of the first movement’s main theme. And finally, the exuberant coda drives to a spectacular ending. Concert Band/Harmonie - Grade 3.5 SKU: BT.AMP-452-140 Composed by Philip Sparke. Anglo Music Midway Series. Concert March. Score Only. Composed 2017. Anglo Music Press #AMP 452-140. Published by Anglo Music Press (BT.AMP-452-140). English-German-French-Dutch. Song of Friendship was commissioned by the Concert Band of Jumonji University, Saitama, Japan and their conductor, Yutaka Nishida. The commission marked the 50th year of Yutaka Nishida’s involvement with bands as a player, conductor and radio presenter. The ceremonial Song of Friendship opens with an extended fanfare, largely featuring the brass section. This leads to the main theme, which develops slowly until it is played by the full band. A change of key signals a contrasting central section containing a quiet woodwind chorale, which grows until the return of the triumphant sounding main theme. Elements of the opening fanfare then close the work.
$26.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Piano SKU: HL.191946 Facsimile. Composed by Frederic Chopin. PWM. Classical. Hardcover. Composed 2013. 35 pages. Polskie Wydawnictwo Muzyczne #61310142. Published by Polskie Wydawnictwo Muzyczne (HL.191946). ISBN 9788361142829. The Polonaises, Op. 40 belong to that later group. They comprise two works: a Polonaise in A major and a Polonaise in C minor. These two works comprise the second opus of piano polonaises to be published by Chopin, and they form a powrful contrastwith one another, representing two varietes of the heroic polonaise: the triumphant and the tragic. They also mark a further stage in the evolution of the polonaise: on the hand, in the direction of monumentalisation; on the other, towards a gradualweakening of its dance features, so that the dance in transformed into a kind of dance fantasy. $83.00 - See more - Buy online
| Journey to the Centre of the Earth Concert band [Score] - Intermediate/advanced Gobelin Music Publications
Concert Band/Harmonie - Grade 6 SKU: BT.GOB-000963-140 Voyage au Centr...(+)
Concert Band/Harmonie - Grade 6 SKU: BT.GOB-000963-140 Voyage au Centre de la Terre. Composed by Harrie Janssen. Score Only. 120 pages. Gobelin Music Publications #GOB 000963-140. Published by Gobelin Music Publications (BT.GOB-000963-140). This composition was based on the world-famous novel by the French author Jules Verne. This novel describes the attempt to reach the centre of the earth. The descent of the crater of the volcano called Snaeffels, situated in Iceland, marks thebeginning of this voyage to the sublunary world. The German geologist, professor Lidenbrock, is accompanied on this trip by his nephew Axel and an Icelandic guide named Hans. The last mentioned will be helpful in many occasions.
Dark colors & mist
The composer tried in this single work to give a musical expression to various significant moments from this novel. In the introduction he sketches an image of the dismal ambience on the island by using dark colors. Risingfragments of mist reveal the flanks of the monumental mountain Scataris. The composer tries to catch this image in a majestic and broad chorale.
Away from Iceland
Subsequently the ostinato rhythmicity and virtuosity representthe hectic descent of the crater of the volcano. The party descends ever more and more and travels south, away from Iceland. On the way, they see all kinds of rock formations, fossils and minerals. At a depth of thirty hours walking distance, atabout 150 kilometers below the surface, they reach a sub terrestrial sea which is called the Lidenbrock sea.
Genuine eruption of sounds
Strange electric manifestations and unpredictable weather conditions accompany thissingular phenomenon. An orchestral tutti-episode expresses this impression musically. On a make-shift raft, the party continues its voyage, heading to the south coast of this huge sea. Once ashore, an enormous rock obstructs the passage. The blowingup of this obstacle unleashes a genuine eruption of sounds in the orchestration.
Spat out by the volcano
But the explosion has an unforeseen side effect. The sea - travelers and raft included - is sucked upwards into a dark hole.Again, our heroes are accompanied on their involuntary voyage, while left to fend for themselves, by an ever increasing ostinato rhythmicity.
Before an irruption can destroy the raft, the threesome manages to escape and climb up through acave towards the daylight. They seem to be spat out by the Stromboli volcano on the island of Sicily, far from home. The composition ends with triumphant sounds that represent the scientific triumph of these adventurers.
$58.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 4 to 6 weeks

Concert Band/Harmonie - Grade 5 SKU: BT.AMP-426-010 Droga do Nieba...(+)
Concert Band/Harmonie - Grade 5 SKU: BT.AMP-426-010 Droga do Nieba. Composed by Philip Sparke. Elite Series. Opening Pieces. Set (Score & Parts). Composed 2017. Anglo Music Press #AMP 426-010. Published by Anglo Music Press (BT.AMP-426-010). English-German-French-Dutch. The Way to Heaven was commissioned by the Royal Air Force Music Services. 2015 was the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, which took place between July and October 1940, when the courageous fighter pilots of the Royal Air Forcethwarted Hitler’s ambitions to launch an invasion on the UK. The Way to Heaven opens with fluttering woodwind figures and brass fanfares, which build to a climax before a change of key introduces a short quotation for the Polish National Anthem - Mazurek Dbrowskiego. This fades and you can hear thesignal to scramble and the throaty sounds of the squadron’s Merlin engines bursting into life before they line up to take off. This leads to the main thematic material of the work, which depicts the heaven-bound flight of 303 Squadron as it climbs tointercept the incoming Messerschmitt 109s. A brief allusion to the Polish national anthem brings the piece to a triumphant close.
The Way to Heaven is geschreven in opdracht van de Britse Royal Air Force Music Services.

Concert Band/Harmonie - Grade 5 SKU: BT.AMP-426-140 Droga do Nieba. Composed by Philip Sparke. Elite Series. Opening Pieces. Score Only. Composed 2017. Anglo Music Press #AMP 426-140. Published by Anglo Music Press (BT.AMP-426-140).
The Way to Heaven<+O> is geschreven in opdracht van de Britse Royal Air Force Music Services.

This piece, dedicated to the memory of a heroic feat, does not desire to be classed as a Symphonic Poem in the generally accepted sense of this term. It does not attempt to picture, or to strictly follow, the various mechanical and realistic phases of this heroic adventure although, on the other hand, it does not entirely avoid allusion to such realistic phenomena as are characteristic of and inseperable from the nature of this adventure and the technical means of its realization. The composer's main object, however, was to try to express in sound the emotional phases of an adventure that might be called a prototype of modern romance; to touch upon its human aspect and its ethical meaning, not only in the relation to the individual, but to humanity in general. To the individual, the venturing Hero, refer the opening phrases; the sinister aspect of a bold inspiration at its first manifestation. To his human environments, his character and conquering spirit, refer certain lyrical as well as martial and ehical themes. According to the nature of the venture, the clash of motoric forces and that of an indomitable spirit with the threatening elements presented themselves for musical consideration as well as the plausible uncertainty of the outcome, the increasing conficence and the final victory, and triumphant victory itself. And as emotion in its purest and most intense form reverts to the primitive, the composer thought it not amiss to make fragmentary use of the anthems of two nations, thus symbolizing the appeal from soil to soil; an appeal that found its joyous echo in all humanity. And in the midst of the turbulent rejoicing stands the lone figure of the Hero whose daring had materialized the dream of aeons. $85.00 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Arranged by Percy Aldridge Grainger. Band Music. Score and parts. Duration 3:40. Published by G & M Brand Music Publishers (CN.R10202). Warlike, then noble, Now is the Day is based on the great figure in Scottish history - William Wallace, often called Braveheart. Opening with the woodwinds playing drums along with the percussion section against brass fanfares, this piece will create an air of excitement. An alto saxophone solo provides a brief moment of solace between the battle scenes.
This work is based on a great figure in Scottish history - William Wallace, often called Braveheart. The song Scots wha hae wi' Wallace bled, which is Scotland's unofficial national anthem contains the line Now is the day and how is the hour, and this is the source of the title. The opening section is warlike in sound with woodwinds playing tambours of some sort - tom-toms, tambours, even old drum skins will make the kind of noise required to simulate a battle. Noisy brass fanfares are melodic fragments of Scots wha hae melody. Eventually, woodwinds join in and the music slows down to an alto saxophone solo, again based on fragments of Scots wha hae. The battle tempo resumes and percussion then lead the band noisily into an eventual full statement of the theme creating a noble sound against the continuing drum patterns, leading to a triumphant ending. $45.00 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 3 to 4 weeks

Concert Band/Harmonie (Score) - Grade 5 SKU: HL.44012271 Composed by Phil...(+)
Concert Band/Harmonie (Score) - Grade 5 SKU: HL.44012271 Composed by Philip Sparke. Anglo Music Concert Band. Concert Piece. Score Only. Composed 2013. Anglo Music Press #AMP358140. Published by Anglo Music Press (HL.44012271). UPC: 888680057664. English-German-French-Dutch. Looking Up, Moving On was commissioned by the Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra and was part of a tour programme they gave in May 2012, a tour which included many areas that had been devastated by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. The theme of the piece is the powerful ability of mankind to overcome such disasters and look forward to a positive future; it opens in an appropriately optimistic mood, featuring bright orchestral colours and extensive syncopation. A chorale-like fanfare is soon introduced on horns and euphonium, answered by chirpy woodwinds. The mood subsides until an alto saxophone introduces a brief quotation from the composer's The Sun Will RiseAgain, which was written to raise funds for victims of the 2011 disaster. The mood soon changes and the horns introduce a noble theme under woodwind flourishes. This leads to the main Vivo section of the piece which is characterised again by strong syncopations as part of a florid theme in the low woodwinds. This melody undergoes varied development by all sections of the band until the horn fanfare returns triumphally on the brass. This is extended and leads to a faster coda which brings together previous material in counterpoint to close the work in optimistic mood.
Looking Up, Moving On is gecomponeerd in opdracht van het Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra.
$30.00 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks
