Soli AAB, Coro SSA(A)T(T)B(B), 2 Ob, 2 Tr, 2 (3) Vl, Va, Bc - Level 3 SKU: CA.5527919 O be joyful. Composed by George Frideric Handel. Edited by Uwe Wolf. Set of Orchestra Parts. Composed 1713. HWV 279. Duration 17 minutes. Carus Verlag #5527900. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.5527919). ISBN 9790007293062. German/English. Handel's Utrecht Jubilate HWV 279 enthralled London audiences right from its first performance, and it continues to do so today in concert halls and churches all over the world, thanks to the wide range of occasions when it can be performed. It was performed for the first time in a festive service on 7 July 1713 at St. Paul's Cathedral to celebrate the Peace marking the end of the twelve year-long War of the Spanish Succession. The Utrecht Te Deum and Jubilate were Handel's first sacred works in English and important milestones at the beginning of his London career. The edition is based on Handel's autograph (which unfortunately does not survive) and on a copy from Handel's circle, which in some respects provides more information than the autograph and contains important details for this edition. In 1717 Handel revised the Jubilate in a smaller scoring for the ensemble at Cannons (HWV 246) and preceded it with a two-part Sinfonia which is also reproduced in the Appendix to this edition. The chorus is mainly scored in four parts, and is in eight parts in just one short movement. In two other movements the soprano part divides. The second alto solo part can also be sung by a high tenor. Score and parts available separately - see item CA.5527900. $190.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks | | |

Language: German. The cantata Ich freue mich in dir was first performed during Bach's second year as Thomaskantor, on the 3rd day of Christmas, and belongs to the so-called annual cycle of chorale cantatas. Here the focus of the composition is the hymn of the same name by Philipp Ziegler, in which the first and final strophes were adopted, word for word, in the first and sixth movements of the cantata. The soprano, which carries the chorale, is supported by the conrnett (Zink), which already at this time had become a seldom-used instrument. The joyful, lively choral movement with instrumental interludes directly follows the first aria, and begins with a marked, ascending motive at the word Getrost! (safely). The oboes d'amore which accompany the alto lend the movement a special color. In the second aria (for soprano), Bach again shows himself to be the master of text interpretation. The words Wie lieblich klingt es in den Ohren are emphasized in an exchange between open strings and sixteenth note figures. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.2102913). ISBN 9790007198213. Text language: Latin. Marc-Antoine Charpentier's Christmas mass, the Messe de Minuit, is throughly in the French tradition, celebrating the joyful news of the Birth of Christ with cheerful happiness. In this midnight mass, composed in 1694, ten traditional French Christmas hymns have been rearranged, lending the work a dance-like energy alongside charming tone coloring. In independent movements the relatively small instrumental ensemble consisting of two flutes, strings and organ plays a significant role in the musical events of this mass, alternating with various combinations of the vocal parts. Solo voices are only used together in small ensembles and, in accordance with the practices of the period, the boundaries between solo ensemble and choir are fluid, meaning that these solo passages can also be sung by members of the choir. (Soli ATB, Coro SSATB, 2 Ob, Fg, 3 Tr, Timp, 2 Vl, Va, Bc) SKU: CA.5528345 Dettingen Te Deum. Composed by George Frideric Handel. Carus Choir Coach (audio only). Composed 1743. HWV 283. Duration 38 minutes. Carus Verlag #5528345. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.5528345). English/German. In keeping with the victorious mood, Handel often splits the chorus into five voices (with divided sopranos) for passages of pure homophony. When the choir declaim as one, the effect is of joyful celebration. To start each phrase on the right note, it is essential to be familiar with the orchestral interludes. The cantabile movements, such as No. 3, can be particularly tricky to perform: The vocal leaps in these demanding choral-soprano sections become much easier if you can hear the underlying harmonies while practicing. The same is true for No. 5.
The Carus Choir Coach offers choir singers the unique opportunity to study and learn their own, individual choral parts within the context of the sound of the entire choir and orchestra. For every vocal range a download containing each choir part is available. The Carus Choir Coach is based on recorded interpretations by renowned artists who have performed the work from carefully prepared Carus Urtext editions. Each choir part is presented in three different versions:
Original recording Coach: each part is accompanied by the piano, with the original recording sounding in the background Coach in slow mode: the tempo of the coach slows down to 70% of the original version â through this reduction passages can be learned more effectively. Performers: Dorothee Mields (soprano), Ulrike Andersen (alto), Mark Wilde (tenore), Chris Dixon (basso) â Alsfelder Vokalensemble, Concerto Polacco â Wolfgang Helbich. Originally composed as a parody of the cantata Angenehmes Wiederau BWV 30a for the Feast of St. John's Day in 1738, it still enjoys a great popularity today. Its extraordinary length (12 movements) made it possible for Bach to employ four vocal soloists who, together with instrumental soloists, choir and orchestra contribute to the generally festive character of this work.
