This text is taken from the Dies Irae Sequence from the Requiem Mass. It is a contemplation of the arrival of judgment day. The A-sections, mm. 1-29 & mm. 43-end, are a manic depiction of the fierce wrath of judgment day. They should be sung with fire, crisp consonants while always enunciating the accents in order to realize the full effect of this powerful text. The entire demeanor of the tone and facial expressions should change for the B-section, mm. 30-42 as it is a plea for mercy. The audience should realize the change in this contrasting section. From master composer Antonio Vivaldi's Laetatus Sum (a setting of Psalm 121), this edition brings the brief work to today's choirs. Featuring an accessible Latin text and a lively optional cello part, this well-crafted arrangement is an ideal introduction to many of the conventions of Baroque style, including terraced dynamics and the alternation between a small group (or soloist) and the full ensemble.

Inspired by the much-revered spiritual tradition, this original a cappella piece recounts the biblical story of the Great Flood. On its third attempt, Noah's dove returned with an olive branch, signaling the discovery of dry land. Flexible call-and-response solos are accompanied by a humming choir in the verses, and a jubilant refrain becomes even more thrilling when a treble trio joins at the end!

You may have studied this beloved Schubert art song in voice lessons, and now you can share it with developing choirs in a well-constructed, approachable arrangement. The choice of key fits comfortably within range and the Romantic era harmonies are easy to hear. Whether there are two or four hands at the piano, listeners will be hooked by the rippling water and leaping fish in the playful accompaniment. Concerned about the German words? A rhyming English translation provides a charming option. Listen to Fischer-Dieskau's iconic recording as an introduction to the piece or an extension of learning.

Kirby Shaw's samba treatment of this stage and screen standard is truly unique! Despite the brisk tempo, held notes lock on tight vocal jazz chords, and a few staggered entrances provide textural interest. After a signature add-on stacks the voices into three independent layers, the arrangement clears the way for a syncopated scat riff at the end of the coda. SoundPax includes four horns and rhythm.
