As well as the Mass in B minor, there are four further, shorter mass compositions by Bach, the so-called Lutheran or Kyrie-Gloria masses. Despite their high musical qualities, they are often overshadowed by other church works by Bach. With their six-movement structure (up to the Cum sancto spiritu) they had their specific liturgical position in church services of the time of Bach. It has been unjustly neglected as it was overshadowed by the Cantata BWV 69 of the same name, a piece which Bach reworked to celebrate the inauguration of Leipzig Town Council in 1748. On that occasion Bach re-used the parts from 1723 for simplicity, and adapted them for the new use by means of cuts, alterations, and additions - something which certainly did not mean that he rejected the 1723 version. The text takes the Gospel reading about the healing of the deaf and dumb man as a reason for praise and thanks for God's good deeds. | Jubel-Kantate WeV B.15 Schott
(Score) SKU: HL.49042437 For the Celebration of the Fiftieth Anniversa...(+)
(Score) SKU: HL.49042437 For the Celebration of the Fiftieth Anniversary of the Reign of King Friedrich August I of Saxony. Composed by Carl Maria von Weber. Edition Schott. Classical. Hardcover. 312 pages. Schott Music #WGA1024. Published by Schott Music (HL.49042437). ISBN 9783795794507. Carl Maria von Weber's fame rests mainly on Der Freischutz. The unprecedented success of this opera overshadowed all his other works and contributed to their increasing fall into oblivion. Certain works such as 'Preciosa', 'Oberon', and 'Euryanthe', the overtures, solo concertos and piano sonatas, the lieder and chamber works enjoyed great popularity and were widely known in Germany and abroad as late as the second half of the 19th century. However, any chance of a revival of Weber's influential and substantial oeuvre was wasted in the 1920s, when a complete edition - begun by Hans Joachim Moser and with potential contributors including Wilhelm Kempff, Hans Pfitzner, Max von Schillings, Fritz Stein and Richard Strauss - failed after the third volume.Ever since there have been numerous attempts to restart a complete edition of Weber's works, but as this kind of project would have required the co-operation of scholars from both sides of the inter-German border, the political situation after 1945 was notconducive to any such enterprise. Careful negotiations led to the first tangible steps in the 1980s. The intention, right from the beginning, was to place Weber's work in context, and not to separate his musical output from his influential work as a writer, ritic and organiser in the musical field, but to publish his compositions together with his letters, diaries and other literary output as the best way to document the cross-fertilisation between his musical, literary and practical activities.Since the German re-unification both working-parties concerned - at the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin, and at the Musikwissenschaftliches Seminar, Detmold/Paderborn - have co-operated on the complete edition of the musical works (c. 45 volumes in10 series: sacred music; cantatas, odes and other occasional works; stage works; lieder and vocal works; orchestral works; chamber music; music for piano; piano reductions; miscellanea, arrangements and orchestrations; works of doubtful attribution). The diaries (68 vols.) are edited in Berlin and the letters (810 vols.) and other writings (2 vols.) in Detmold. This complete edition aims to be a reliable basis of scholarly debate as well as for the authentic performance practice of Carl Maria von Webers music. Conforming to the standards of recent historico-critical editions, the textual material will be based on. $299.00 - See more - Buy online
| String Quartet No. 2, Op. 15 String Quartet: 2 violins, viola, cello G. Henle
String Quartet (Study Score) SKU: HL.51487272 Study Score. Compose...(+)
String Quartet (Study Score) SKU: HL.51487272 Study Score. Composed by Alexander Zemlinsky. Edited by Dominik Rahmer. Henle Music Folios. Classical. Softcover. G. Henle #HN7272. Published by G. Henle (HL.51487272). UPC: 840126989366. 6.75x9.5x0.245 inches. Alexander Zemlinsky's music was long unjustly overshadowed by what was regarded as the “more progressive†Second Viennese School. Although Zemlinsky was close friends with its protagonist Arnold Schönberg, he never did take the latter's radical step into dodecaphony. At the same time, he composed works that were no less original or fully fledged. Composed between 1913 and 1915, his Second String Quartet in particular pushed the contemporaneous understanding of form and tonality to its limits. With just one movement but spanning over 1,200 measures, this multi-faceted work numbers among the most significant contributions to the genre of the time and has long merited a critical new edition. The Urtext edition by G. Henle Publishers corrects many errors and inaccuracies in the first edition that came to light after careful comparison with the autograph sources in Vienna and Washington. For the first time, too, the metronome markings that survive only in one of Zemlinsky's letters have been incorporated. Editorial work was kindly supported by the Alexander Zemlinsky Endowment Fund in Vienna. SATB chorus, piano SKU: CA.402605 Composed by Anton Bruckner. Edited by Simon Halsey, Jan Schumacher. Choral collection. Carus Verlag #402605. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.402605). ISBN 9790007302054. German. At times Romantic, at other times with a jazzy touch, the Choral collection Bruckner. Secular choral music is full of exciting discoveries and new arrangements at various levels of difficulty. Anton Bruckner’s secular choral music is often overshadowed by his great symphonies and sacred choral works – unfairly, as choral experts Simon Halsey and Jan Schumacher prove with their small but fine selection of choral music inspired by secular texts. Bruckner left only a few movements for mixed choir; instead, his music for male voices constitutes a far larger body of work. For this collection, renowned arrangers from Germany, England, Denmark, and Italy have specially reworked the most beautiful of these choral movements for SATB, enabling this great repertoire to be performed by mixed choirs. Two original SATB compositions are also included. Furthermore, the choral collection features arrangements of songs originally written for solo voice and piano with texts by such poets as Heinrich Heine and Emanuel Geibel. Another highlight is an arrangement of the Adagio from Bruckner’s String Quintet WAB 112, which Heribert Breuer has created for choir to a text by Georg Trakl.- 16 SATB settings, several with keyboard accompaniment- Selected by Simon Halsey and Jan Schumacher- Modern SATB arrangements of male-voice works and solo songs, as well as original compositions - Affordable complete volume (editionCHOR) as well as separate editions available in print and digitally.- Introductory price valid until 31.10.2023, then 27.00 EUR (editionCHORLEITUNG) and 15.00 EUR (editionCHOR, minimum order: 20 copies) $16.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

The text takes the Gospel reading about the healing of the deaf and dumb man as a reason for praise and thanks for God's good deeds. In contrast to the later version, in which God is thanked for the wisdom of the Leipzig authorities, the original version of 1723 is free of such contemporary references, and is suitable for use in worship and concerts in many different ways. Bach's Cantata BWV 69a of 1723, which has remained largely unknown to the present day, is now available for the first time in a practical edition with this Carus publication. | String Quartet No. 2, Op. 15 String Quartet: 2 violins, viola, cello G. Henle
String Quartet (Parts) SKU: HL.51481272 Set of Parts. Composed by ...(+)
String Quartet (Parts) SKU: HL.51481272 Set of Parts. Composed by Alexander Zemlinsky. Edited by Dominik Rahmer. Henle Music Folios. Classical. Softcover. G. Henle #HN1272. Published by G. Henle (HL.51481272). UPC: 840126989250. 9.0x12.0x0.348 inches. | Weber Cm Klav Kzt Nr2 (jv155) Ga 5-4/2 Schott
Orchestra; Piano (Score) SKU: HL.49042455 Concerto for piano and orche...(+)
Orchestra; Piano (Score) SKU: HL.49042455 Concerto for piano and orchestra No. 2 E flat major. Composed by Carl Maria von Weber. Edited by Markus Bandur. This edition: Full-cloth binding. Sheet music. Edition Schott. Classical. Hardcover. Op. 32. 206 pages. Schott Music #WGA1054-20. Published by Schott Music (HL.49042455). ISBN 9783795794828. 10.0x13.25x0.845 inches. German - English. Carl Maria von Weber's fame rests mainly on 'Der Freischutz'. However, any chance of a revival of Weber's influential and substantial oeuvre was wasted in the 1920s, when a complete edition - begun by Hans Joachim Moser and with potential contributors including Wilhelm Kempff, Hans Pfitzner, Max von Schillings, Fritz Stein and Richard Strauss - failed after the third volume.Ever since there have been numerous attempts to restart a complete edition of Weber's works, but as this kind of project would have required the co-operation of scholars from both sides of the inter-German border, the political situation after 1945 was not conducive to any such enterprise. Careful negotiations led to the first tangible steps in the 1980s. The intention, right from the beginning, was to place Weber's work in context, and not to separate his musical output from his influential work as a writer, critic and organiser in the musical field, but to publish his compositions together with his letters, diaries and other literary output as the best way to document the cross-fertilisation between his musical, literary and practical activities.Since the German re-unification both working-parties concerned - at the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin, and at the Musikwissenschaftliches Seminar, Detmold/Paderborn - have co-operated on the complete edition of the musical works (c. 45 volumes in 10 series: sacred music; cantatas, odes and other occasional works; stage works; lieder and vocal works; orchestral works; chamber music; music for piano; piano reductions; miscellanea, arrangements and orchestrations; works of doubtful attribution). The diaries (6-8 vols.) are edited in Berlin and the letters (8-10 vols.) and other writings (2 vols.) in Detmold. This complete edition aims to be a reliable basis of scholarly debate as well as for the authentic performance practice of Carl Maria von Weber's music. Conforming to the standards of recent historico-critical editions, the textual material will be based on all available authentic sources, accompanied by a detailed documentation of the genesis and a list of variants for each work. The musicological importance of the works will be evaluated by placing them in their historical context, the presentation of their genesis, history and Critical Commentaries. The letters, writings and diaries will be treated as inter-related and relevant to each other in the commentaries, therefore readers should benefit from a wealth of concise information and cross-references. $201.00 - See more - Buy online
