After initially introducing the theme in a mere cloud of sound, the piece, then, starts off in a Cajun / New Orleans groove. All of the voices of the brass quintet have their solo spots. More and more independent voices join in falling into the groove, and thus, intensifying the tune. Shortly after the climax---Is it the turkey or the presents?---the festivities are concluded in a short and classical manner. But, wait! It is a little musical joke that finally rounds the evening off. O Tannenbaum (Maryland, My Maryland) is arranged for brass quintet: 2 trumpets, horn in F / flugelhorn, trombone, tuba.

Contemporary British composer Brian Kelly has composed a series of place-inspired suites, including the Cuban Suite and the New Orleans Suite. The Suite Parisienne's four movements suggest the Paris of years gone by - Quartier Latin, Promenade, Memoire, Moulin Rouge - in music that shows a deep understanding of brass instruments and a lively, sophisticated setting of melodies that are almost, but not quite, French tunes. The solistic opportunities for each instrument are generously shared and the three livelier movements make a brilliant frame for the longing tone of the Memoire movement.

For this arrangement of Wiegenlied, Johan Brahms? famous melody was used as the starting point and combined with an alpine horn call. The intention here is not to undermine the original but to pay homage to Brahms? ability to write a ?hit? melody. Written for brass quintet and sextet this series presents a unique venture. The volumes contain the basis of chamber music for young brass players which lend themselves for teaching purposes as well. The works provide young musicians with the possibility of starting chamber music already as beginners and of getting acquainted at an early phase with the exciting world of instrumental ensemble playing. The composer states the aim of the series in the Preface as follows: 'Through forms easy to survey, clear build-up and last but not least with ideas' provoking' the young musicians to use their own fantasy this series intends to serve as a kind of 'warming up training' to the 'Decisive Matches' of professional ensemble playing.'
