Beautiful and heartfelt, As Shadows Fall is an outstanding lyrical work for young band. A beautiful and memorable melody is first introduced by the flute and gradually grows amid changing textures and harmonies ultimately leading to a soaring and dramatic final climax. The music then ends as it began, with a gentle breeze, quietly fading away amid the setting sun. The many opportunities for lyrical performance technique and expressive qualities make this a superlative choice for concert or festival use. A valuable addition to the young band repertoire.
About C.L. Barnhouse Command Series
The Barnhouse Command Series includes works at grade levels 2, 2.5, and 3. This series is designed for middle school and junior high school bands, as well as high school bands of smaller instrumentation or limited experience.
