With this arrangement, my goal is to maintain the integrity of the original work, while making it accessible to the younger orchestra. An important aspect of the successful performance of this piece is maintaining an energetic tempo. The repeated eighth notes in the accompaniment should be played cleanly and crisply to maintain momentum. There are many places where abrupt changes in dynamics occur. For example, m. 1 begins with a string unison forte, which suddenly drops to piano at m. 11. Accents, staccatos, and other articulations should be carefully observed. To be effective, crescendos should begin at a reasonable volume, so they have somewhere to go dynamically. I hope you and the orchestra enjoy this arrangement. Wind Quintet SKU: ST.C525 Composed by Janne Kolodub. Wind & brass music. Clifton Edition #C525. Published by Clifton Edition (ST.C525). ISBN 9790570815258. The Ukrainian Suite for wind quintet dates from 1983 and is in three movements. In the opening Allegretto, there is a hint of minimalist techniques, where the unusual harmonic shifts will challenge the players to forget conventional cadences. Several parts share parallel rhythms in many places, while one part carries the melodic material. Similar principles can be seen at work in the Moderato con moto second movement, where persistent repeated notes accompany the melody. The third movement, also Moderato at the start, builds towards a final section where all five parts share very similar note patterns, and excitement is generated by the contrasting dynamics and the relentless drive of the rhythms. This quintet was originally published by Phylloscopus Publications in 2001 and set from the manuscript by C.M.M. Nex and F.H. Nex.
Flute, Oboe, Clarinet in B flat and A, Horn in F and Bassoon. Score and 5 Parts included.

Orchestra String Orchestra - Grade 4 SKU: CF.CAS44 Composed by Alan Lee Silva. FS-SWS. Carl Fischer Concert String Orchestra Series. Score and Parts. This is a tour-de-force for the advancing string orchestra. Beautiful, dramatic, and flowing, Waterloo Station is very fresh and contemporary. Students will love it for the lush harmonic textures and rhythmic drive that this composer is so noted for. Composed as a characterization of the fast-paced atmosphere of London’s Waterloo Train Station, this fast-slow-fast piece combines technical excitement with heartfelt simplicity. The fast section in G minor consists of two main parts: the intense, emotional A section at m. 21 and the legato, sweeping B section at m. 59. The syncopated tutti figures in the high strings coupled with the fiery cello and bass lines propel the fast sections. The phrase in mm. 1–8 recurs throughout. Making four- to eight-measure exercises of this section below tempo in the violins and viola, focusing on rhythmic clarity, will help to lock in the syncopation. Similarly, the cello and bass should rehearse this slowly as well as mm. 9–16 to gain fluidity and insure a solid foundation. The cellos carry the tune at m. 71, and the ensemble builds from mm. 79–86 to the transition at m. 87. An abrupt change to half tempo here slows the momentum and transitions to a quiet, melancholy tone in m. 91. The middle section (ABA) begins in G minor with a somber quality, highlighted by the Violin I solo. It gradually builds to a beautiful, uplifting setting as it moves to G major in m. 100. Returning back to the hushed G minor tonality, it then speeds up again and transitions back to Tempo I for a brief recapitulation of the fast section. Measure 117 marks the return to vigorous playing, beginning softly and building to a thrilling ride to the end. A warm and richly scored setting of the popular Christmas carol Bring a Torch Jeanette, Isabella, this full sounding arrangement will greatly enrich seasonal programming. Roy Phillippe has employed a broad palette of harmonic and instrumental colors to craft a memorable holiday selection. Bring a Torch is a lovely Christmas carol. Using techniques such as suspensions, re-harmonization and modulations, my goal is to provide an interesting showcase for this familiar melody. the introduction in F major features sustained violins with a pattern of moving eighth notes in the violas and cellos. This pattern recurs throughout the piece. The first statement of the melody is in the first violins. The second violins supply harmonic support along with the viola/cello pattern. Measures 13-29 feature a section of tutti chordal playing. Measure 30 crescendos into the modulation to D major at m. 32. Here, the dynamic is forte, and the viola/cello pattern returns. At m. 40, the violas and cellos have the melody with violin accompaniment. A crescendo begins at m. 44 and builds to fortissimo at m. 48, featuring a modulation to G major. At this point the melody should soar. A descrescendo at m. 60 is followed by a ritard at m. 64. The final four measures are in the original tempo ending on a tutti chord.Careful attention to dynamics, especially in the accompanying parts, will result in a fine performance. Cliffhanger is a programmatic work for string orchestra that harkens back to the days of silent film. This piece tells the familiar story of the damsel in distress who is tied up to the train tracks as a train is approaching. Nicely done!. This piece tells the familiar story of the damsel in distress who is tied up to the train tracks as a train is approaching. The opening of the piece sets the scene with danger and desperation. By m. 6, our hero is making his way on horseback to rescue the fair maiden. This main melody is developed and passed around the ensemble until m. 36, at which point despair sets in. The music is rich with romantic harmonies and inner lines. Be sure to bring out these inner lines to add to the passion and drama of the moment. It continues to build until a thunderous arrival at m. 49. From there we return to our hero, who is now getting close to the train tracks to save the fair maiden. The tension becomes the highest at m. 61, when we are still not sure if our hero will make it in time. But alas, at m. 68 he swoops in to save the day and rescue the fair maiden. Of course, they live happily ever after. My hope is that your ensemble will have some fun with this style of music. It was adapted from an arrangement I wrote for the new pipe organ at the Walk Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. They wanted some scary train music to show children how the organ was used back before movies had sound. Strings provide a heightened sense of drama with this genre of music. | Harlem Suburb Shuffle Concert band [Score] - Intermediate De Haske Publications
Concert Band/Harmonie/Fanfare Band - Grade 4 SKU: BT.DHP-1216336-215 Comp...(+)
Concert Band/Harmonie/Fanfare Band - Grade 4 SKU: BT.DHP-1216336-215 Composed by Peter Kleine Schaars. Peter's Compact Collection. Original Light Music. Score Only. Composed 2021. 30 pages. De Haske Publications #DHP 1216336-215. Published by De Haske Publications (BT.DHP-1216336-215). English-German-French-Dutch. From the beginning of the Middle Ages, we have known performance practices in which the duration of the notes can differ from the actual notation. In some cases, binary written melodies were performed in a ternary way. This isalso the case in the present-day shuffle: the written quavers are performed in a long-short system in which the ratio is 2:1. In other words, the performance practice is based on a triplet feel. In this composition, allingredients of the shuffle are featured: a vigorous swing rhythm, a walking bass, the successions of thirds in the accompaniment and the frequent use of triplets. To make sure that the binary written rhythms in the accompanimentsare performed in the correct ternary manner, Peter Kleine Schaars has notated the melody themes in triplets as much as possible. Thus, this composition is a very useful exercise for the swing development of your ensemble.Additionally, the work is a treat to listen to, so your audience will really appreciate this up-tempo big band like composition. All ternary rhythmic cells 17 till 24 pass in revue, furthermore much attention had been paid to acorrect performance of cell 4 in swing feel.
$18.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Orchestra String Orchestra - Medium Easy/Medium SKU: CF.CAS37 For String Orchestra. Composed by Alan Lee Silva. This edition: complete set. FS-SWS. Carl Fischer Concert String Orchestra Series. UPC: 798408063665. 8.5 X 11 inches. Key: C major. A salute to the famous sailboat race, this rollicking piece in A minor introduces compound time with an opening (and closing) section in 12/8. The fast flowing music of the opening, vividly suggestive of a ship slicing through the waves, returns in a higher key (B minor) after a warmly scored, sweepingly melodic middle section. This is a piece whose sophistication is an excellent showcase for a more advanced performing group. Written in 12/8 in A minor, America’s Cup evokes the intensity and momentum of a wild sea with driving triplets, sweeping melodies, and accented downbeats. The A-material from the opening measure is played aggressively but lightly enough to keep the feeling of forward motion. Strong accents and rhythmically precise playing in the cello and bass provide solid support for the fast moving violin and viola passages. Measure 67 begins the slow, pastoral setting of the B-material. A gentle, lyrical violin motive in A major grows into a high, sweeping melody over sustained harmonies. This provides a brief repose before returning to the fastoriginal tempo and minor key as the recapitulation begins at m. 90. A modulation to B minor (m. 94) lifts the energy of the piece and gives young players the challenge of playing the running lines in another key. Measure 118 builds to the end, keeping the intensity a soft dynamic and growing into the final syncopated tutti unison figure in mm. 122–123. Bassist and string educator/composer George Sweet is a new addition to the Carl Fischer Music team. His music is fresh and unique, and Duncan's Tale is an enjoyable work with infectious rhythms and interesting melodies. It contains some nice harmonic twists that will really engage your students in the piece. We are proud to have the music of Mr. Sweet in the Carl Fischer Music catalog!. Duncan’s Tale is the story of a small Cairn Terrier who gets into various forms of “household mischief†while his owners are away. The piece offers the viola section a chance to play much of the primary melodic material, as opposed to purely accompaniment. Make sure that the accents in the main theme at m. 3 are played with full value. This provides a contrast to the staccato notes that accompany them. The melodic section that follows at m. 13 should be played in a warm legato style, contrary to the other sections. This is the point where the violas enter for the first time with the melodic material. At m. 21 a denser variation of the theme leads to an abrupt “half step†modulation. The viola interjections should be played with a “fiddle-like†quality. The piece then returns to the original material before fading out on the ostinato pattern that opens the piece. The final pianissimo pizzicato note represents the point when the “adventures†are over, as the owners have returned and Duncan hides. Dedicated to the luminary Steve Cowan, …empty mind, open heart… is a four-movement suite that centers around the intervals of a fifth and a tritone. Each movement is inspired by a quote from the Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu. The opening movement is a meditation. The aleatoric rhythms and pacing of the notes are guided by the breathing of the performer, according to specific instructions in the score. Out of that atmosphere emerges a fluid, serene series of arpeggios in irregular rhythms in the second movement. Each new chord changes only one or two notes at a time in a gradual evolution over time. The third movement is a study in rhythm, sometimes dizzying. And the piece ends with a heartfelt, mostly quiet soliloquy.
$9.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks
