The cantata Nur jedem das Seine (Do justice to all men) BWV 163, for the last Sunday of the Church Year 1714/15, belongs among to those chamber music works which Bach composed for the Weimar Schlosskirche. The instruments are limited to strings, although two obbligato violoncellos are included which together with the solo bass singer and the continuo form a bass quartet unique in Bach's works. The final chorale of the cantata is handed down only as a fragment and was newly reconstructed for our edition by Thomas Riegler. Score and part available separately - see item CA.3116300.

A powerfully emotive choral work written in honour of the UK health and care workers who lost their lives during the COVID-19 pandemic. The text comprises their names, each sung separately in turn, in a poignant and moving homage. The piece is designed as a living tribute, to memorialise their dedication and sacriï¬ ce through each performance. This is a work of remembrance, respect and gratitude for these courageous workers, never to be forgotten. Commissioned by the London Symphony Chorus.

During Mendelssohns years of study with Zelter, the arrangement of chorales already played an important role, and he continued to be occupied with the protestant chorale throughout his symphonic and oratorical work. The break Bach's works in connection with the reperformance of the St. Matthew Passion led to a series of cantatas based on well-known chorale melodies for choir, instruments, and sometimes also for soloists. Score available separately - see item CA.4018600.

Reprint of the first edition. Friedrich Spitta recommended to Herzogenberg that he set Gerhard Tersteegen's text Gott ist Gegenwartig on the occasion of that poet's 200th birthday. Besides the obbligato organ, Herzogenberg restricted the instrumentation to strings, two trumpets, three trombones and timpani, and thus achieved a majestic quality which corresponds to the text. Score and part available separately - see item CA.2300100.
