For Une Belle Histoire, Roland Kernen took his inspiration from the seventies French singer and composer Michel Fugain and his troop of singers and dancers known as ?Le Big Bazar?. The cheerful melodic line of his 1972 hit Une belle histoire lends itself perfectly for brass band. Add a little French charm to any concert with this throwback to the hippy period of the early seventies.

In 1972 werd het gezelschap Michel Fugain et le Big Bazar opgericht, een kleurrijk geheel van muzikanten, zangers en dansers met een hippieachtige uitstraling. Met deze formatie bracht Fugain tot eind jaren zeventig veel vrolijkeen mooie hits uit, waaronder Une belle histoireM. Roland Kernen schreef een fraai arrangement van deze levendige en tijdloze hit. De melodieuze muziek zal elk concert voorzien van een vleugje Franse charme.

Mit Une belle histoire (Eine schöne Geschichte) kam die französische Gruppe Michel Fugain et le Big Bazar“ - ein bunter Haufen aus Tänzern und Musikern im Hippie-Stil - in den siebziger Jahren groß heraus. Roland Kernen schrieb diese reizvolle Bearbeitung des lebhaften, zeitlosen Hits. Die melodische Musik verleiht jedem Konzert etwas vom Charme Frankreichs und der fröhlichen, schönen Hippiemusik der Siebziger.

Michel Fugain est un auteur-compositeur et interprète français, né en 1942 Grenoble. Il débute sa carrière dans l’industrie du cinéma tout en écrivant plusieurs chansons pour Michel Sardou. Son talent musical s’impose alors comme une évidence. En 1969, il enregistre son tout premier album Je n’aurai pas le temps. Trois ans plus tard, en 1972, il crée la célèbre troupe du Big Bazar, composée de musiciens, chanteurs, comédiens et danseurs aux couleurs hippies. Ensemble, ils sortent le single Une belle histoire qui connaît un immense succès. Jusqu’ la fin des années 1970, la troupe va égrener quelques tubes, avant de se séparer. Dans les années 1980, MichelFugain se diversifie et se lance dans l'animation télé. Si pour la grande majorité du public, il est resté le leader du Big Bazar, Michel Fugain a néanmoins réussit son renouveau artistique après plusieurs années d’absence.Roland Kernen a réalisé un charmant arrangement du premier grand succès du Big Bazar, Une belle histoire. La mélodie, délicieusement légère, chemine sur des notes au charme et aux parfums de France.

The Atlas Symphony for symphonic wind band is an impressive and subtle work, thematically complex, with a rich orchestration, but also great beauty. The composer was keen to draw a parallel between an atlas, where all the geographical maps of the world are collected in one book, and his score, which brings together all the facets of his musical style. Despite being written without any breaks, the symphony is structured around three main ideas. It is based upon a series of notes that will become the very essence of the piece, its building blocks. Like the works of composers of serial music, the series appears in different forms - melodic and harmonic, thematic or simply asan accompaniment. With its wealth of rhythms and contrapuntal power, this piece is a compelling concerto for orchestra. The Orchestre de la Police Nationale was the first to be attracted to this work and premiered it with excellence under the baton of composer Thierry Deleruyelle.

Die Atlas Symphony für symphonisches Blasorchester ist ein eindrucksvolles, feinsinniges Werk, mit einer komplexen Thematik und einer reichhaltigen Orchestrierung, aber dennoch anmutig. Der Komponist beabsichtigte, eine Parallele zwischen einem Atlas, der geografische Karten der ganzen Welt enthält, und seiner Partitur zu ziehen, die alle Facetten seines persönlichen Musikstils enthält. Obwohl sie ohne Unterbrechung geschrieben ist, ist diese Symphonie doch auf drei Hauptachsen aufgebaut. Sie basiert auf einer Reihe von Noten, welche die Quintessenz, das Material des gesamten Stückes bilden. Wie bei den Komponisten serieller Musik tritt diese Reihe in verschiedenenGestalten auf - melodisch oder harmonisch, thematisch oder einfach als Begleitung. Mit seinem Reichtum an Rhythmen und der kontrapunktischen Brillanz ist die Atlas Symphony ein wahrhaftes Konzert für Orchester. Das Orchestre de la Police Nationale (Frankreich) war das erste Orchester, das sich von diesem Werk verführen ließ und spielte eine brillante Uraufführung unter der Leitung des Komponisten Thierry Deleruyelle.

La Symphonie Atlas pour grand orchestre d’harmonie est une œuvre imposante et subtile, l’orchestration riche et la thématique complexe mais néanmoins gracieuse. Le compositeur a tenu faire un parallèle entre l’Atlas, ce livre où toutes les cartes géographiques du monde sont répertoriées et sa partition, qui possède toutes les caractéristiques de son style musical. Volontairement écrite d’un seul tenant, elle s’articule néanmoins en trois axes. Sa construction est basée sur une série de notes qui deviendront l’essence même de la pièce, son matériau. Tel le travail des compositeurs de musique sérielle, « la série » apparaitra sous différentes formes, mélodiqueet harmonique, thématique ou simplement d’accompagnement. Sa richesse rythmique et son pouvoir contrapuntique fait de cette pièce un véritable concerto pour orchestre. C’est l’Orchestre de la Police Nationale qui a le premier été séduit par l’œuvre et qui en a fait la brillante création sous la direction du compositeur Thierry Deleruyelle.

Atlas Symphony è un brano grandioso, di enorme bellezza, pieno di sfumature, tematicamente complesso, con una ricca orchestrazione. La sinfonia è scritta senza interruzioni e basata su una serie di note che vengono proposte nella melodia, nell’armonia e nel tema. La ricchezza di ritmi e la brillantezza dei contrappunti, fanno di Atlas Symphony un brano da concerto perfetto.

A rip roaring grandioso concert march, full of wonderful melodic lines and striking rhythmic features. An extremely appealing composition for both performers and listeners alike.

In Decorum folgt auf eine überraschende, virtuose Einleitung ein verspieltes, leichtes Thema. Hier wechseln sich die Holzbläser mit Tutti-Passagen ab,wodurch ein dynamisch kontrastiver Effekt entsteht. Danach tritt eine Melodielinie, mit Triolen und punktierten Motiven als auffälligste rhythmische Merkmale, in den Vordergrund. Das Trio präsentiert ein neues Thema, in dem die Sechzehntelnoten die Oberhand haben. Eine ausgesprochen erhabene Reprise beendet diesen Konzertmarsch. Decorum ist eine äußerst attraktive Komposition für Musiker und Zuhörer.

Une ligne mélodique dont les triolets et des motifs marqués constituent l’aspect rythmique le plus surprenant est ensuite mise en relief. Le trio développe un nouveau thème et mène vers un finale grandiose. Decorum est une oeuvre très attrayante tant pour les musiciens que pour l’auditoire.

In seguito viene evidenziata una linea melodica nella quale le terzine e motivi incisivi costituiscono l’aspetto ritmico più sorprendente. Il trio sviluppa un nuovo tema e accompagna verso il grandioso finale. Decorum è un brano che esecutori e pubblico troveranno molto accattivante.

Fantasy for Marimba was commissioned by the outstanding Japanese marimba player, Fumito Nunoya. Although it is written in concerto style, the piano not only accompanies the solo marimba but also plays an important part in the development of the work. The piece is written in four movements, played without a break: Allegro, Andante misterioso, Tempo rubato and Allegro energico. Also available for Marimbaphone and Piano.

In Fantasy for Marimba neemt de marimbafoon als solo-instrument een centrale plaats in, maar ook de piano speelt een belangrijke rol. Het werk bestaat uit vier samenhangende delen: een Allegro, een Andante misterioso, een Tempo rubato en tot slot als hartstochtelijke finale een Allegro energico. Ook verkrijgbaar voor marimba en piano.

In Fantasy for Marimba wird das Marimbaphon als Soloinstrument gewürdigt, aber auch das Blasorchester spielt eine wichtige Rolle. Das Werk besteht aus vier zusammenhängenden Sätzen: Es beginnt mit einem Allegro, in dem Marimbaphon und Orchester zwei Themen präsentieren, die im darauff olgenden Andante misterioso weiterentwickelt werden. Im dritten Satz, der mit Tempo rubato überschrieben ist, hat das Blasorchester eine Atempause“, während das Marimbaphon ein kadenzartiges Solo vorträgt. Der letzte Satz, ein Allegro energico, führt das Werk mit leidenschaftlicher Intensität zu einem großen Finale.

Bien que la structure de cette fantaisie s’apparente celle d’un concerto, le pianiste n’est absolument pas réduit un rôle d’accompagnateur, mais participe pleinement au développement de l’œuvre. Fantasy for Marimba est divisé en quatre mouvements qui s’enchaînent sans interruption : Allegro - Andante misterioso - Tempo rubato - Allegro energico.

The convent of St. Florian was the place of work of the Austrian composer Anton Bruckner. It was in the rural setting of this convent with its marvelloaus church that Bruckner composed many of his great symphonies. St. Florian Choral is Thomas Doss’ modest tribute to this great master whose music has left its permanent mark on the composer’s musical life.
