Een handig extraatje is de toegevoegde derdevioolpartij, die de altvioolpartij kan vervangen als er geen altviolist beschikbaar is.

Dem Arrangeur Anthony Gröger ist es gelungen, die teilweise umfangreich besetzten Originalwerke in überzeugende, gut spielbare Streichquartettsätze zu verwandeln und dabei viel vom vertrauten Klangbild zu bewahren. Ein Bonbon ist die zusätzlich beiliegende dritte Violinstimme, die anstelle der Bratschenstimme genutzt werdenkann, falls kein Bratschist zur Verfügung steht.

Bertold Hummel schrieb das vorliegende Ave Maria fur seinen Sohn Martin, der dieses Stuck auch in Begleitung des familiaren Streichquartetts musizierte, wovon eine noch erhaltene Bratschenstimme zeugt. Die zweiteilige Komposition verbindet eine terzverwandt angelegte Dur-Moll-Tonalitat mit modaler Harmonik. Pragendes Element der Begleitung ist eine absteigende, phrygische Tonleiter, die im Verlauf des Stuckes die Richtung wechselt und auch Transformationen ins Dorische bzw. ins Moll erfahrt. Der zweite Teil ('Sancta Maria...') greift die Musik des Anfangs wieder auf und fuhrt zu neuen Kombinationen des musikalischen Materials. (Christoph Weinhart 2015).

An durchsichtigen Faden (On transparent threads) for mezzo-soprano and string quartet was composed in 2018 for Maria Riccarda Wesseling and the Amaryllis Quartet. The original version of this work (for mezzo-soprano and cello) was composed in 2013 for Andrea Del Favero and Thomas Grossenbacher, to a commission from the Tonhalle Society and the Literaturhaus in Zurich. This work lasts about 30 minutes and is based on the poem „Endloser Anfang von allem“ („Endless beginning of everything“) by Kurt Aebli.

There are two versions of this piece (two ways to perform it):- as a quartet- for two quartets playing simultaneously. In the latter case, the two quartets divide the staves of the page of a score in such a way that one quartet always plays the upper stave, the other quartet the lower.
