Salutation was commissioned by Japanese conductor and broadcaster, Yutaka Nishida, a dear friend of the composer Philip Sparke. Salutation follows fairly conventional march form. A short fanfare introduces the main theme, played by clarinets and saxophones. A bridge passage, mainly in the brass, heralds a change of key and a legato second subject, again played initially by the clarinets, which leads to the conventional trio theme, which is then repeated by the full band. Sections of the second subject lead back to the home key and a return of the main theme, embellished with woodwinds.

Salutation is geschreven in opdracht van de Japanse dirigent en radiopresentator Yutaka Nishida, een goede vriend van Philip Sparke. Het werk volgt een vrij conventionele marsvorm: een korte fanfare introduceert het hoofdthema, gespeeld door de klarinetten en saxofoons. Een bridgepassage, voornamelijk door het koper gespeeld, kondigt een modulatie en een legato gedeelte aan, aanvankelijk door de klarinetten gebracht en uitmondend in het conventionele triothema, dat daarna door het hele orkest wordt herhaald. Stukjes uit het legato gedeelte brengen ons terug naar de oorspronkelijke toonsoort en het hoofdthema, dat wordt versierd met motieven in het hout. Dan volgtnog een korte coda in het koper.

Eine Überleitung, die in erster Linie von den Blechbläsern gespielt wird, kündigt einen Tonartwechsel sowie ein zweites Thema im Legato an, das anfangs wieder von den Klarinetten gespielt wird und zum traditionellen Trio führt, welches dann vom gesamten Orchester wiederholt wird. Teile des zweiten Themas führen in die Ausgangstonart zurück und das Hauptthema, dasvon den Holzbläsern verziert wird, kehrt wieder.

L’œuvre suit la forme assez conventionnelle de la marche : une courte fanfare introduit le thème principal, joué par les clarinettes et les saxophones. Un bref pont, principalement interprété par les cuivres, annonce un changement de tonalité et un second thème legato, joué encore une fois premièrement par les clarinettes, conduit au thème traditionnel du trio, qui est ensuite repris par l'orchestre complet. Des sections du deuxième thème ramènent la pièce sa tonalité d'origine et au thème principal, agrémenté cette fois par les bois.

Beginning with a powerful timpani statement, the brass section responds with a bold introductory theme. Strong melodic lines interacting with woodwind flourishes make this piece sound more mature and difficult than the grade level indicates. A strong, bold piece built on fanfare gestures, this piece for very beginning strings uses techniques within the grasp of students with as little as ten weeks of study on an instrument.
A majestic piece that should bring about the feeling of pride with its ceremonial and celebratory nature. The piece begins with a fanfare gesture using open harmonies, that leads to a sweeping main theme. There is a more subdued and lyrical second theme, followed by some interplay between sections. The fanfare material from the beginning serves as the transitional glue along with the intro and outro for the pieceto tie it all together.The piece is written for the youngest of students in mind with minimal notes and simple repeated eighth-note rhythms. As with all of my piece for beginning students, it is up to you, the teacher, to adjust the tempo of the piece to the needs of your students. This fantastic, stirring fanfare was written with the composer?s wish that the young musicians performing it would fly into the bright future like pheasants. The first part of the piece is a fanfare, which is suitable for opening ceremonies, and the second part is a lush chorale-like movement. Your band can perform both parts together or you could perform each one separately. This short opening work will start any concert in real style.

Deze fanfare is geschreven in opdracht van de Nara Prefectural Kashihara Senior High School. De mascotte van de school is een jonge fazant. De componist schreef dit werk met de wens dat de leerlingen in de zonnige toekomst zoudenuitvliegen als fazanten. De compositie bestaat uit twee delen. De fanfare is uitstekend geschikt als openingswerk. Het koraalachtige tweede deel beschrijft de schoolgebouwen, gelegen in een mooie omgeving met prachtige natuur rondom.Beide delen zijn te combineren, maar ze kunnen ook afzonderlijk worden uitgevoerd. Hoewel dit werk tamelijk kort is, vertelt het een verhaal op een treffende en opgewekte manier.

Der japanische Komponist Yagisawa schrieb diese Fanfare zum 30jährigen Jubiläum einer Schule. Die ‘jungen Fasane’ im Titel sind ein Symbol für die Schüler, die ihrer Zukunft entgegen fliegen. Die Fanfare, die sich wunderbar als feierliches Eröffnungswerk eignet, tritt hauptsächlich im ersten Teil auf, während der zweite Teil einen choralähnlichen Charakter aufweist. Beide Sätze dieser bemerkenswerten Komposition können auch einzeln aufgeführt werden.

Cette fanfare brillante est commande du Lycée de Kashihara dans la Préfecture de Nara au Japon. L’emblème du lycée est un jeune faisan. l’écriture de cette pièce en deux mouvements, le compositeur a émis le vœu qu’ l’instar des faisans, les étudiants puissent voler vers un avenir radieux. Les deux parties peuvent s’enchaîner ou, au contraire, être interprétées séparément. Bien qu’il s’agisse d’une œuvre courte, l’histoire y est décrite avec authenticité et légèreté.

Questa fanfara brillante è un brano commissionato dal Liceo di Kashihara, della prefettura di Nara in Giappone. Scrivendo questo brano in due movimenti, il compositore ha espresso il desiderio che gli studenti possano volare come dei fagiani, verso un avvenire radioso. The Latin title Ad Fontis means ?to the source?. This lively march in 2/4time follows traditional forms of march composition with a cheerfulopening followed by a somewhat more lyrical trio. This ceremonialgenre of old is often used in the army to keep up the morale of thetroops, however a march can also serve perfectly well to add luster toany concert and bring immense pleasure to the audience.

Ad Fontis is een vrolijke mars in tweekwartsmaat, geschreven door Harm Evers. De Latijnse titel van het werk betekent: naar de bron. Deze mars heeft dan ook geen ingewikkelde vorm, maar bestaat uit een opgewekt eerste gedeelteen een wat lyrischer trio - in de traditie van de marsmuziek. Dit ceremoniële genre wordt van oudsher in het leger gebruikt om het moreel van de manschappen hoog te houden. Een mars kan echter ook uitstekend dienen ter opluisteringvan elk concert - vaak tot groot genoegen van het publiek.
