SSATB vocal soli, SATB/SATB choir, 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 4 trumpets, timpani, 2 violins, viola, basso continuo SKU: CA.2719713 Composed by Jan Dismas Zelenka. Edited by Thomas Kohlhase. Arranged by Paul Horn. This edition: urtext. Stuttgart Urtext Edition. Viola. Sacred vocal music, Praise and thanks. Single Part, Viola. ZWV 146. 12 pages. Duration 28 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 27.197/13. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.2719713). ISBN 9790007200961. Language: Latin. Two settings of the Te Deum by Jan Dismas Zelenka have been survived: the Te Deum in D major ZWV 145 of ca. 1724 and the present Te Deum a due cori in D major ZWV 146, which was composed in 1731. Whereas the Te Deum ZWV 145 is scored for five voices (soli e tutti) and an orchestra including two trumpets and timpani, the setting of the Te Deum a due cori, which includes five soloists and two four-part choirs, as well as four trumpets and timpani, and soloistic flauti traversi is magnificently realized in a more decisive manner. The large, solemn scoring suggests that the work was composed for a worship service on the occasion of the birth of the Electoral Princess Maria Josepha of Saxony. Orchestra Solo A, 3 Ob, Tl (Eh), Org obl, 2 Vl, Va, Bc SKU: CA.3103507 (+)
Orchestra Solo A, 3 Ob, Tl (Eh), Org obl, 2 Vl, Va, Bc SKU: CA.3103507 Cantata for the 12th Sunday after Trinity. Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Edited by Ulrich Leisinger. Stuttgart Urtext Edition: Bach vocal. Sacred vocal music, Cantatas, Trinity, Praise and thanks. Study score. Composed 1726. BWV 35. 68 pages. Duration 31 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 31.035/07. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.3103507). ISBN 9790007242251. Language: German/English. The alto cantata Geist und Seele wird verwirret has seven movements; in the opening movements of the two parts of the cantata, a lost concerto by Bach survives in its original form, which he had arranged for organ. There is also an obbligato organ part in all the three arias, sometimes including virtuosic writing. Lehms takes the Gospel reading for the 12th Sunday after Trinity, which deals with the healing of a deaf and dumb person, and makes it apply more universally: God wants to open the ears of the faithful soul and loosen its tongue, so that it can praise his wonderful works. Unlike most of the other cantatas, in line with the text model Bach avoids the use of a choir for the concluding movement of the work. The cantata was written for the 12th Sunday after Trinity which fell on 8 September 1726 in the year of its first performance. The text comes from the collection Gottgefalliges Kirchen-Opffer by Georg Christian Lehms, who was court poet and court librarian in Darmstadt. From his Weimar period onwards, Bach set several texts from this collection. Score available separately - see item CA.3103500. $15.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks | | |
