In this edition, we present two shorter works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, which were not originally intended as a continuous work, but which are ideally suited to such a performance, especially as they complement one another in character so beautifully. The edition allows you to work through the piece systematically and at different tempi with the accompaniment. The enclosed CD begins with the concert version of each movement, following which you will hear the piano accompaniment at slow and medium tempo to help you practice. Having mastered these slower versions, you’ll now be ready to play with orchestral accompaniment at the original tempo. All of the versions wererecorded live. Even though Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791), admittedly, was no fan of the flute, he wrote unforgettable music for this instrument 'that I can't stand': two concertos, a double concerto with harp, the original version of the Wind Concertante and the four flute quartets. Commissioned by the Dutch physician and amateur musician Ferdinand Dejean, Mozart wrote his two solo concertos in 1777/78 during a stay in Mannheim. As the middle movement of the Concerto in G major KV 313 supposedly was too difficult for the client -with regard to the playing technique and/or music - the composer wrote an alternative version, 'Andante' KV 315 (285e). This nice individual movement is now presented in a carefully edited new edition, with a cadenza of the editor - a serenade-like setting that offers the soloist many possibilities for cantabile playing.

Number 80 of the collection Classics for Flute by Marcel Moyse, Minuet of Mr. Duport is a piece initially composed by Mozart and arranged for flute and piano accompaniment. The main theme starts with a Tempo di Minuetto, which is then followed by four variations and a final part Allegro ending up with a Cadenza. Quite amazing, this piece is difficult to play and will fit upper intermediate players. It is a great piece to listen to that would definitely work well in a concert or in a recital.

His Requiem was first performed at Prague at a memorial festival dedicated to Mozart. It got into the possession of the Museum in 1951 with therich book- and music-collection of the family Verebi-Vegh. Rossler-Rosetti genoss noch bei Lebzeiten grosse Popularitat. Seine Opern und Sinfonien erzielten grossen Erfolg, ein beideutender Teil davon ist auch im Druck erschienen. Sein Requiem wurde in Prag 1792 anlasslich der Mozart-Gedenkfeierlichkeit aufgefuhrt. Er komponierte viele Konzerte fur Klavier, Violine, Violoncello, Flote, Klarinette, Fagott, Horn und verschiedene Ensembles. François Devienne (1759 - 1803) was a French flutist and composer, as well as a founding professor at the Paris Conservatory, which was established in 1795. During his lifetime, Devienne composed over 300 works, most of which were scored for Wind Instruments.
Devienne belonged to a line of French flutists and composers who, over a period of a century, had adopted a German transverse Flute and made it a quintessentially French musical instrument. He followed the path of predecessors such as Michel de la Barre and Michel Blavet in establishing a French school of Flute playing and composition.
Devienne wrotehundreds of works for the Flute, as well as a renowned tuition manual. His 7th Concerto is thought by many to be the best of the dozen or more concertos that he composed during his lifetime. This concerto was composed in or around 1787, shortly before the French revolution. As in Mozart's later works, the passions of the time can be clearly heard - particularly in the vigorous opening theme in E minor. In contrast to the stately Allegro, the theme is gentle and lyrical, yet intriguing, with the Flute almost mimicking bird call.

Fresh from the success of his Sonata for Flute and Piano (114-40463), and with some prodding by Sir James Galway, Liebermann went on to produce a trifecta of flute concerti - the Concerto for Flute and Orchestra (416-41186), the Concerto for Piccolo and Orchestra (416-41174), and, here, the Concerto for Flute, Harp, and Orchestra. Commissioned by harpist Hyun Sun Na, the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra, the Minnesota Orchestra, the Cincinnati Symphony, and the Dallas Symphony, the Concerto was given its world premiere in 1995 by Galway (flute), Kathy Kienzel (harp), and the Minnesota Orchestra conducted by Edo de Waart. The Concerto's premiere recording was by Galway (flute), Hyun Sun Na (harp), and the London Mozart Players conducted by Lowell Liebermann.

As a confirmed Mozartian it is natural that Müller's concertos for flute and orchestra should follow the classical pattern, and the E minor work published here for the first time since 1801 is an attractive and virtuoso piece in the less usual minor tonality.
