Shufflin' in F is a medium swinging blues chart that opens with a short vamp figure. The theme is stated contrapuntally leading to the first ensemble figure which is a send-off to the bass solo. Similar ensemble material is then used as a send-off for the alto solo (optional written solos are provided for both soloists). The opening vamp material is then used for the final ensemble before the restatement of the theme.

This big band orchestration, Du, Du, liegst mir im Herzen, of Clare Fischer's arrangement on the recording Latin Pattern begins with a piano introduction from the recording Alone Together (Clare Fischer) that establishes the Latin groove of this traditional German song. Later there is an open solo over a vamp that builds into a very exciting ensemble passage. Optional parts are included for flute, clarinet, French horn, tuba, and guitar.

Burungkaka is an Indonesian folk song which is known throughout Malaysia. It is about an old parrot which sits near the window, singing. The children make fun of it in a good-natured manner. Originally arranged in 1997 for virtuoso jazz trombonist Albert Mangelsdorff and the WDR Big Band by Bill Dobbins. Albert had recorded the piece many years earlier on a trio recording of his. Saxes double on flute, clarinet, or bass clarinet. First alto doubles on soprano. Substitute saxophone parts are provided on the reverse side of the woodwind parts. First trumpet goes to C (2 ledger lines above staff).

Amen is a medium up-tempo gospel-swing, influenced by Horace Silver's The Preacher. Mike Titlebaum underlaid the bluesy melodies, developed throughout the arrangement, with a driving shuffle rhythm first introduced by the trombones in the intro.
