Pietro Nardini was the most important pupil of Tartini regarding both violin playing and composition. Like his teacher, he attached special significance to the beauty of sound and the -suitability for singing, as is shown by reports of his contemporaries. This is the 2013 version (reduced strings) of Per Nørgård's Remembering Child - Viola concerto No. 1 (1986) - Two Movements for Viola Solo (or Cello solo) and Chamber Orchestra. Programme Note: The title refers to the original meaning of the word remembering: Making whole. The work should not be considered as a sort of requiem for Samantha Smith - the late 13 years old fighter for nuclear disarmament - but as an evocation of the childish, creative forces in all people, young and old. Therefore the work applies thematic material of a certain dawning quality, including two Gregorian chants, appearing intertwined in the beginning of the 2. movement. And therefore the workalso may be considered as a tribute to the still living child-heretics, fighting against the global lunacy of grown-up, such as Eamon Burke, the Australian boy, continuing, independently, the work of Samantha. REMBERING CHILD was commissioned by St. Paul Chamber Ochestra and dedicated to Pincas Zuckerman, soloist at the premiere performance (Sept. 12, 1986). Per Nørgård.

Symphony No. 2 began its life as Pozcatek, a 'Michael Nyman Band' 'soundtrack' that was written for the Michael Nyman Band to accompany a selection of sequences from post-war Polish films that Nyman selected and edited in 2009. That work has already been networked a Pozcatek for piano trio (recorded by the Fidelio Trio for MN Records) and a song cycle 'Ex Votos Songs' with texts transcribed from Mexican Ex Votos, hence the possibly subtitle for this symphony: Ex Photos. The symphony, which was completed in 2013, consists of four interconnected movements and is Arranged for orchestra. Duration of approximately: 28 minutes.

Finally performable again Eduard Franck's Piano Concerto in D minor Op. 13 is the first major orchestral work by this Mendelssohn pupil. The pianist, already celebrated at a young age, had early plans for the piano concerto that he completed at the latest in 1846. Contemporary critics emphasized the catchy motives and the balanced relationship of solo instrument to the orchestra. Ignaz Moscheles was impressed by the noble manner, the poetic ideas, and the orchestration. Thanks to the kind support of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia, in whose library the orchestral parts, once thought to be lost, are preserved, the work can be introduced for the first time in the present edition.
