The Temple Organist is a series of hymn arrangements designed to support the sacred reverence found in temples of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The songs selected for the two volumes have been taken directly from approved lists of hymns appropriate for temples. The arrangements in this volume, like volume 1, are arranged to include the harmonizations from the 1985 hymnal, with a variation that follows in most cases. True to the style of Orgain Chains, they include interludes to connect each hymn so they can be played consecutively (including modulations that bridge different keys beautifully). You will enjoy serving temple patrons as you play these simple, contemplative hymn settings.Contents Include:Oh, May My Soul Commune with TheeNearer, My God, to TheeO My FatherI Need Thee Every HourJesus, Lover of My SoulMore Holiness Give MeGuide Me to TheeDid You Think to Pray?Sweet Hour of PrayerHow Gentle God's CommandsWhere Can I Turn for Peace?Be Thou HumbleDearest Children, God Is Near YouBe Still, My SoulLead, Kindly LightSweet Is the Peace the Gospel BringsO Love That Glorifies the SonGod Loved Us, So He Sent His SonHow Great the Wisdom and the LoveWith Humble HeartJesus, Once of Humble BirthIn Humility, Our SaviorThere Is a Green Hill Far AwayI Stand All AmazedSweet Is the WorkCome, Follow MeLove One AnotherDear to the Heart of the ShepherdLord, I Would Follow TheeComposer: VariousArranger: Brent JorgensenDifficulty: Easy.

This toccata is based on the introit to the Christian Epiphany festival and solemnly announces the appearance of the Lord. As a toccata, the work is an introduction to Hakim's Adoration (Schott, ED 22614) for voice, flute and organ, a paraphrase of the first three introitus to Epiphany. The Toccata develops a series of symphonic variations with virtuoso movements that emphasize the expressiveness of the words of the Gregorian text: Ecce advenit dominator dominus: et regnum in manu ejus, et potestas, et empium. Deus, judicium tuum regi da: et justitiam tuam Filio regis. (Behold, the Lord, the ruler, comes: and the kingdom is in his hand, and the power and the dominion. God, give your judicial office to the king: and yours Justice to the son of the king.) (Malachi 3: 1, I Chronicles 29:12, Psalm 71: 1, 10, 11).

A well-known teacher and compiler of Stainer & Bell's Opera Gala series, John Norris has created Wedding Gala with an ear to giving church organists a mix of favourites and exciting discoveries to brighten the routine of music for the service of holy matrimony. No album would be complete without the traditional wedding music of Mendelssohn and Wagner, and it can be found here in this collection alongside other classics of the wedding repertoire by Jeremiah Clarke, Bach and Handel. But there's also a thoroughly contemporary leavening, with arrangements of Sydney Carter's One More Step and Lord of the Dance, both firm favourites, plus Musorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition and Charpentier's Prelude, adding a note of splendour. But the real bonus is for lovers of English music, with Elgar's Chanson de Matin and 'The Call' from the Five Mystical Songs by Ralph Vaughan Williams, seldom found in comparable collections. And there's also a rare new discovery: the ravishing Chosen Tune by Herbert Howells, transcribed from his Three Pieces for violin and piano, Op. 28, and available as an organ piece for the first time. Each piece is comprehensively registered by the arranger, and the collection as a whole will be welcomed by all organists of intermediate standard as a source of new material not only for liturgical use but also for recitals.

Its bears the subtitle Lament on the Loss of Musical Thought - some Madrigals for Solo Flute or Flute with any other Instruments. This serves as a playing instruction but doubles at the same time as an outmoded programme: it refers back to the musical origin of the opening lamenting motif, a tradition which was once of its time but is not of our time - namely the Lamento genre which gave the title to the Chaconne in Purcell's opera Dido and Aeneas. Almost simultaneously I wrote a second version for Piano (for Piano one-and-a-half hands), which already formulates possible approaches for the performer, in some detail, to the indicated, quasi-canonic version of the piece in the programme. The multiple version Ein Hauch von Unzeit III realizes a concrete version of a formal state which floats between strict canon and aleatoric principles: each of the musicians who are spread throughout the hall introduces their own idiomatic translation of the flute part. And so the music exists, omnipresent, not only spatially throughout the hall, but also formally in a sort of fluctuating simultaneity. For that reason, it was my express wish to any potential interpreter that they should construct entirely their own version of the piece. A healthy number of musicians have responded to my suggestion - versions of the piece have now been made for guitar (Cornelius Schwehr, Gunther Schneider), accordion (Hugo Noth), double bass (Fernando Grillo), violin (Hansheinz Schneeberger), viola, violoncello, and double bass (trio basso, Koln), violoncello (Michael Bach), trombone (Andrew Digby) and, created by myself, a sung version for voice (to words by Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel und Max Bense), and for viola. The most important requirement for the whole piece is absolute stillness, which should as far as possible emanate from the performer. The pauses are occasionally in this respect the most important element. These may, if one can find the necessary stillness, become very long.Ein Hauch von Unzeit (A Breath of the Untimely) - time almost dissolves!(Klaus Huber, 1989/2014 - translation: David Alberman)CD:Jean-Luc Menet (Bass flute)CD Traversieres 120.270Jean-Luc Menet (fl)CD STR 37039Bibliography:Zimmermann, Heidy: Zeitgestaltung im Kompositionsprozess bei Klaus Huber - dargestellt anhand von Skizzen, in: Mnemosyne. Josef Gabriel Rheinberger dedicated his 9th Organ Sonata (composed in May 1885) to Alexandre Guilmant, the indefatigable concertizing virtuoso who had already given the first Paris performance of Rheinberger's 1st Organ Concerto (in F major, op. 137). With opulent harmonies, conspicuously frequent tempo changes, and chords which are a true delight when played on a Cavaille-Coll organ, the rhapsodic Fantasie at the beginning of the 3rd movement certainly lives up to its name. The separate edition is taken from the Rheinberger Complete Edition.

The composer and organist Paul Siefert, baptized in Gdansk on 28 June 1586 and died there on 6 May 1666, belongs to the 'North German organ school'. Thanks to a grant of the town council of Gdansk, Siefert spent the years from 1607 until probably late 1610 studying in Amsterdam where he got important ideas and suggestions as a pupil of Sweelinck. After his return he became deputy organist in Gdansk. From 1611 to 1616 he worked as an organist first at the church in the old town of Konigsberg, then at the Warsaw court orchestra. On 23 September 1623 he was appointed organist at the Marienkirche of Gdansk in succession to Michael Weyda where he worked until the end of his life. This edition of his organ works contains 13 fantasias, two chorale preludes and a motet as well as a detailed description of the work in the preface and in the critical report.

With his organ symphonies, the composer Enjott Schneider (born 1950) from Munich has been a profound sensation in recent years and seen world premieres at major European organ events. The Organ Symphony No. 6 'Te Deum' (premiered at Bruckner's St. Florian above Bruckner's tomb in 2008 and recorded there on CD) adopts the five-part structure and several motifs from Bruckner's 'Te Deum', thus becoming a forceful compact work pervaded by the Gotteslob. 1: 'Te Deum' is based on Bruckner's original figuration of fifths and eighths which is connected with the Latin Te Deum; 2: 'Te Ergo' is a 'preghiera' with pleading and praying gestures; 3: 'Aeterna fac' is an extremely virtuoso perpetuum mobile; 4: 'Salvum Fac' a basso ostinato and finally 5: 'In te, Domine speravi' a toccata which, after taking many detours, inevitably leads to the C major.

Organ Duration: 28 ' Composed: 2012 Published by: Zimbel Press This work features seven meditations on the Seven Last Words of Jesus Christ from the cross. Each part of the composition is musically and spiritually connected with one of the words. The music attempts to portray the meaning of the words, and to heighten how they sound. Often the left hand of the organ represents Christ’s body, the right hand represents his soul, and the pedals represent his breath. In many passages, the listener can observe the instrument in its search for forgiveness, hope, and light..
