Composed by Richard Wagner. Choir; stapled. Chor-Bibliothek (Choral Library). Richard Wagner wrote Tristan and Isolde in the years 1857 to 1859. The first edition was published by Breitkopf & Hartel in Leipzig in 1860. The world premiere took place in the Konigliches Hof- und National-Theater in Munich on 10 June 1865 u. Opera; Music theatre; Romantic. Choral score. 8 pages. Breitkopf and Haertel #ChB 138-02. Published by Breitkopf and Haertel (BR.CHB-138-02). ISBN 9790004400791. 6 x 8.5 inches. Translations: engl. (H. und F. Comer), french (A. Ernst/P. Bruck) Place: Tristan's ship, King Mark's castle in Cornwall, Tristan's castle Characters: Tristan (tenor) - King Mark (bass) - Isolde (soprano) - Kurwenal (baritone) - Melot (tenor) - Brangane (mezzo-soprano) - Shephard (tenor) - Mate (baritone) - Voice of a young sailor (tenor)In 1856 pressing financial obligations forced Wagner to interrupt the composition of the Ring to work on Tristan und Isolde. He initially planned a work that was modest in its production and performance demands. The project was also given priority not least because of the prospect of the royalties which he would then receive. He once again turned to Breitkopf & Hartel for the performance material: 'Tristan und Isolde' is scheduled to be given its first performance at the end of this year. I still hope that it will take place in Karlsruhe under my guidance. Due to the celebrity that I have now acquired, I assume that a new and easily performable work of mine should be able to spread very quickly across the German stages in its first winter season. Wagner was wrong. although the publisher had spent a great deal of time and money in producing preliminary material, Wagner wrote to Breitkopf & Hartel from Munich in November 1864: The squalor of Germany's opera singers and the vile condition of its opera houses have so far dissuaded me from allowing a performance of 'Tristan und Isolde'. What I needed was an impassioned young monarch to restore my courage. Next spring you will hear about the work's premiere in Munich, and you will then hopefully become more confident about this publication.
Richard Wagner wrote Tristan and Isolde in the years 1857 to 1859. The first edition was published by Breitkopf & Hartel in Leipzig in 1860. Piano SKU: HL.49012015 Composed by Richard Wagner. Edited by Carl Dahlhaus. This edition: Full-cloth binding. Sheet music. Richard Wagner - Samtliche Werke. Classical. Score and critical commentary, complete edition. 124 pages. Schoenberg #RWA 119. Published by Schoenberg (HL.49012015). ISBN 9783795792459. UPC: 073999726176. 11.0x15.0x0.818 inches. The Richard Wagner Complete Edition presents the composer's entire output for the first time in a reliable form. The conductor Michael Balling, in the early years of the 20th century, attempted to make Wagner's work more accessible for research and performance, but the edition only reached 10 volumes - some with grave shortcomings - and was discontinued after Balling's death in 1925. A further attempt at a complete edition by Otto Strobel was abandoned at the preliminary stages. This third attempt at a complete edition will be the first scholarly, critical edition, based on an evaluation of all the accessible source materials and the latest findings of serious Wagner research. As the edition is also intended for practical performance, the musical text has been kept free of philological insertions; these are listed in the appendices of each volume in the Critical Commentary. Numerous, partly unpublished works - some relatively unknown - and variant versions are published here for the first time. The edition presents authentic texts for Wagner specialists and researchers and critically based performing materials. Contrary to widely held opinions, even the well-known works of Wagner are not necessarily available in reliable editions. The genesis, history and performances directed by Wagner himself are extensively documented so as to present as complete an image as possible of Wagner's compositional intentions. $125.00 - See more - Buy online

The prelude to the opera Die Meistersinger von Nurnberg was given its world premiere in Leipzigs Gewandhaus on 11 November 1862 in a concert that Wagner organized in conjunction with Hans von Bulow and the composer Wendelin Weissheimer. Wagner personally conducted his own work. The concert was a financial flop; artistically, however, it seems to have been an extraordinary success, for Wagner reported the following day to Joachim Raff: My Meistersinger was excellently played, and the DaCapo demanded with great sincerity. It sounded very fine. Since then and increasingly after its publication in 1866, two years before the world premiere of the opera the prelude has been a beloved concert piece that impressively exposes the major themes of the Meistersinger.

A work which offers most interesting aspects also for studying, yet it is so difficult to perform that only a very correct and thoroughly edited score can provide the orchestral conductor with the proper presentation, this is what Wagner himself determined on 24 May 1860, when with his third attempt he finally had found the proper form for the overture of the Flying Dutchman. Indeed, he succeeded in writing a forceful concert piece which anticipates the story of the opera in a concentrated form: a dramatic Dutchman theme with thunderbolt and storm in Allegro con brio - and in contrast Senta's love theme in Andante, d minor against f major with the resulting conflicts and tensions. Double bass (3(picc).2(cor ang).2.2. - 4.2.3.1. - timp - hp - str) SKU: BR.OB-4943-27 Overture to the Opera. Composed by Richard Wagner. Stapled. Orchester-Bibliothek (Orchestral Library). Overture; Romantic. Part. 4 pages. Duration 9'. Breitkopf and Haertel #OB 4943-27. Published by Breitkopf and Haertel (BR.OB-4943-27). ISBN 9790004325971. 10 x 12.5 inches. It's good that with the present edition the conductor can count on a very correct and thoroughly edited score! $7.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 3 to 4 weeks
