Auf eine ruhige, marschähnliche Einleitung, welche die Versammlung zum Gottesdienst darstellt, folgen drei Strophen des bekannten Weihnachtsliedes, einmal von einem Quartett, dann über die Instrumentengruppen verteilt gespielt. Festliche Verzierungen und ein Zwischenspiel, das den Beginn des Weihnachtsfestes symbolisiert, führen das Werk zu einem spektakulären Schluss. Es darf auch mitgesungen werden!Noël est le temps de l’année où l’on se rencontre en famille pour célébrer la fête de la paix entre les gens du monde entier. C’est aussi le moment parfait pour chanter des chansons saisonnières et de faire de la musique ensemble. Voici un morceau original et joyeux qui est parfait pour le début ou la fin de votre concert de Noël ! Christmas Prelude è un arrangiamento dell’inno Adeste Fideles. L’apertura tranquilla e simile a una marcia che rappresenta la congregazione religiosa, è seguita da tre strofe del celebre canto natalizio, una volta eseguito da un quartetto, in seguito dall’intero organico. Ornamentazioni festose che simboleggiano l’inizio della festivit , conducono il brano a uno spettacolare _x001E_finale.

Sanctuary was commissioned by Eastern Bay of Plenty Brass from New Zealand and was performed as an own choice piece at the 2018 New Zealand National Brass Band Championships. It opens with an expressive cornet solo, hymn-like in mood. A slightly faster central section builds to a change of key and an expansive return of the opening melody, this time scored for full band. After an emotional climax the mood subsides, leading to a quiet close. Sanctuary werd geschreven in opdracht van Eastern Bay of Plenty Brass uit Nieuw-Zeeland en werd uitgevoerd als zelfgekozen werk tijdens de New Zealand National Brass Band Championships van 2018. Het werk opent met een expressieve kornetsolo, die qua atmosfeer veel weg heeft van een hymne. Een iets sneller middengedeelte werkt toe naar een verandering van toonsoort en een grootse terugkeer van de openingsmelodie, deze keer getoonzet voor de complete band. Na een emotioneel hoogtepunt wordt de muziek kalmer van sfeer en mondt ze uit in een rustig slot.Sanctuary wurde von der Eastern Bay of Plenty Brass aus Neuseeland in Auftrag gegeben und als Selbstwahlstück bei den New Zealand National Brass Band Championships 2018 aufgeführt. Das Stück beginnt mit einem ausdrucksvollen Kornett-Solo in der Art eines Kirchenliedes. Ein etwas schnellerer Mittelteil führt zu einem Tonartwechsel und einer ausführlichen Rückkehr der Anfangsmelodie, die nun von der gesamten Brass Band gespielt wird. Nach einem emotionalen Höhepunkt beruhigt sich die Stimmung und mündet in einen ruhigen Schluss.Sanctuary est une commande de l’ensemble néo-zélandais Eastern Bay of Plenty Brass, qui l’a interprétée en tant qu’œuvre libre « contemplative » au Championnat national de brass bands de Nouvelle-Zélande 2018. La pièce s’ouvre avec un solo de cornet expressif évoquant un hymne. Un passage central un peu plus rapide mène un changement de tonalité avant un retour majestueux la mélodie du début, cette fois faisant appel l’orchestre entier. Après un climax chargé d’émotion, la musique s’apaise pour aboutir une conclusion sereine.

Wer nur den lieben Gott lässt walten was composed by Georg Neumark in about 1641 and was subtitled ‘Trostlied’ literally meaning consolation song. Songbooks at the time showed the popularity of this song and it is still well-known today partly due to Johann Sebastian Bach’s use of the melody for one of his own chorals. In Jan de Haan’s arrangement the choral is heard twice, once, alternating with the original motif from the introduction and a second time, without interruption, reflecting the composer’s original intention - a song of consolation.Wer nur den lieben Gott lässt walten werd omstreeks 1641 door Georg Neumark geschreven. Het gezang bestaat uit zeven strofen waarin het vertrouwen in God wordt bezongen. Neumark zelf voegde er de subtitel Troostlied aan toe. Johann Sebastian Bach heeft het meermaals gebruikt. Zo draagt zijn cantate BWV 93 de titel Wer nur den lieben Gott lässt walten. In dit arrangement van Jan de Haan klinkt het koraal twee keer. Wer nur den lieben Gott lässt walten wurde um 1641 von Georg Neumark geschrieben. Alte Gesangbücher belegen eine frühe Popularität des Liedes, das heute nicht zuletzt durch Johann Sebastian Bach, der es u. a. für einen Choral verwendete, jeder kennt. In dieser Bearbeitung erklingt der Bach-Choral zweimal: einmal alternierend mit dem Motiv aus Jan de Haans Einleitung und einmal ohne Unterbrechung in einer Besetzung, die der ursprünglichen Absicht gerecht wird: einem Trostlied.Vers 1641, Georg Neumark compose l’hymne chrétienne Wer nur den lieben Gott lässt walten, dont chacune des sept strophes exprime sa foi en Dieu.
