It only became apparent a few years ago that the text of the soprano cantata Falsche Welt, dir trau ich nicht came from the collection Gott-geheiligten Sabbaths-Zehnden by the Leipzig theology student and Bach pupil Christoph Birkmann, printed in 1728 in Nuremberg. Birkmann was probably therefore the author of the text. The cantata was written for the 23rd Sunday after Trinity, which fell on 24 November 1726 in the year of its first performance. As in other cantatas in the first annual cycle, Bach chose an instrumental sinfonia as the opening movement - here the first movement of the 1st Brandenburg Concerto. The soprano soloist has two recitatives and two arias, in which the falsehood of the world is juxtaposed with trust in God. The cantata text is rounded off with the first verse of the chorale In dich hab ich gehoffet, scored for four-part chorus, as is usual with Bach. With the use of two horns and three oboes added to the string ensemble, the cantata has colorful and varied orchestration. Score and part available separately - see item CA.3105200.

Austrian-born American violinist and composer Fritz Kreisler (1875-1962) is considered among the best virtuosic violinists in history. While he did write some operettas, vocal works, and a smattering of pieces for other instruments, it is unsurprising that most of his output was for the violin. In the earlier part of his career, he wrote a number of pastiches in the style of other well-known composers, going so far as to ascribe the work to them rather than to himself. In 1935, Kreisler revealed that he had composed these select works, answering his critics by pointing out that they had deemed to music worthy under the other composers' names, and that the name changes, the value remains. Among these such works is his Concerto in C, IFK 42, which Kreisler falsely attributed to Baroque composer Antonio Vivaldi. In three movements, the work exists with both string orchestra accompaniment and this Master reprint edition for violin and piano.

Composed in 2012, the two pieces in Sadie Harrison’s Heartoutbursts! take their inspiration from traditional English folk. ' ...in the folk-song there is to be found the complete history of a people, recorded by the race itself, through the heartoutbursts of its healthiest output. It is a history compiled with deeper feeling and more understanding than can be found among the dates and data of thegreatest historian... '(Percy Grainger 1922) In 1905, Joseph Taylor won a Lincolnshire folksong competition with his rendition of Brigg Fair , a song he had learnt from a gypsy. Australian composer Percy Grainger subsequently published a setting in his Lincolnshire Posy , with Delius usingthe tune in his rhapsody, Brigg Fair . Both composers sought to vivify the tradition of English folksong, celebrating not only the ancient tunes and words but also the qualities of particular folksingers like Joseph Taylor. Harrison’s own Australian Heartoutbursts! follow unashamedly in the Grainger tradition with echoes of the original folktunes underpinning both songs Brigg Fair and The Seeds of Love . Although different in character, both texts use similar images as analogies for the joys and despairing associated with love - the lark and violet symbolize youth, the lily as virginity, the red rose as true love, and the willow representing falsehood and abandonment.

The six CONCERTI ARMONICI was long thought to be the work of the violinist-impresario Carlo Ricciotti or composer Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, but more recent research has revealed the composer to be Unico Wilhelm van Wassenauer (1692-1766). Born into a wealthy Dutch family, the diplomat and composer founded a Collegium musicum in The Hague under the oversight of Ricciotti. Composed between 1725 and 1740, the six concertos have been falsely attributed to a variety of contemporaries, Ricciotti and Pergolesi amongst them, since its anonymous publication. Wassenauer's aristocratic background was the reason for his secretiveness. The sentiment of the time ordained that musicians belong to the lower classes. This edition of CONCERTINO No. 2 (also CONCERTO ARMONICO in G Major, CONCERTO IV, or just CONCERTINO in G), drawing from the CONCERTO ARMONICO in G Major, IUW 3, was edited by 20th century Baroque expert Fritz Rikko. Rikko spuriously attributes the work to Pergolesi. Despite Wassenauer's authorship having since been confirmed, Rikko's original editorial notes have been retained. Instrumentation: Str (4 Vn parts [2.2.2.2].3.2.2): Harpsichord Continuo in score.
