Mozart composed two new symphonies in the Autumn of 1773, after having returned to Salzburg from Vienna. The first of the two was the Symphony No.24 In B Flat K.182, and the second was the Symphony No.25 in G Minor K.183

This symphony was one of two which Mozart composed in a minor key ? the other being the Symphony No.40 in G Minor K.550. The latter can be identified with some of Mozart?s most troubled and agitated music, reflecting those difficult moments in his life. However, the twenty-fifth symphony is thought to have been composed as part of a sudden wave of minor-key symphonies which appeared in the later 1760s and early 1770s ? among others were composed by Vanhal, Ordonez, and Joseph Haydn.Available here is the study score for one of Mozart?s two symphonies composed in a minor key, the Symphony No.25 in G Minor K.183. His concertos justifiably rank among the milestones of solo music accompanied by orchestra. In Viennese Classicism, piano music flourished thanks to innovations in the instrumental technique, and even Mozart fully exploited the advantages of the fortepiano action over the rigid sound of the harpsichord in his works.Piano Concerto No. 25 is Mozart's longest concerto. The harmonic structure, the continuous change between major and minor, the witty dialoguing between solo and orchestra, the strong contrapuntal saturation, the frequent use of the pedal point as well as the overflowing melodic abundance give the work a character all its own.

This valuable though seldom played early work from his Salzburg period contains the entire youthful charm of Mozart. It can be played without wind instruments whose parts are included in the strings. In this case, even the piano or harpsichord can be added as sound filler as was often done by Mozart himself when he conducted a work sitting at the respective instrument.

This is the miniature study score of his Concerto for Piano No.23 in A major KV488, one of Mozart's most popular and successful concertos, not least for the wistful but loaded mood and sublime melody. Completesd in 1946 and likely performed in Vienna shortly after, it is calm and then vivacious and see Mozart again impressing his mastery of orchestration and compostion..
