Coro SMsATBarB - Grade 4 SKU: CA.744800 Arranged for Pop-Up. Composed by Manuel Grunden. Carus digital: Extra digital products. Full Score. Duration 5 minutes. Carus Verlag #744800. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.744800). ISBN 9790007300043. Latin. Over its long history, the Advent song Veni, veni, Emmanuel has been adapted time and again to create many different versions with their own unique melodies and textual variants. The melody from the German Protestant hymnal to the text O komm, o komm, du Morgenstern probably dates from the 15th century. Manuel Grunden’s arrangement of this version now places the hymn in a new light. While respecting the sacred majesty of the original, Grunden has created a simple six-part arrangement in which the melody wanders through the different voices, encircled by long, dynamically shaped sustained notes. As the piece progresses, the joyful anticipation of the Savior’s anticipated arrival is expressed in impressive and dramatic climaxes. At the same time, jazz/pop harmonies bring fresh color to the simple melody. Offering a modern take on this very traditional song, Manuel Grunden’s piece can be easily integrated into any Advent concert program. $8.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

This is an ancient Welsh air that was first published in Relics of the Welsh Bards in 1794. Dafydd (David) Owain was a famous Welsh bard who lived on a farm called Gareg Wen (The White Rock) in Eifionydd, Carnarnvonshire, North Wales. Tradition has it that on his deathbed he called for his harp and composed this lovely melody, requesting that it be played at his funeral. Accordingly, it was later played at the parish church of Ynys-Cynhaiarn. Lyrics were later added by Ceiriog Hughes, which describe the melody's inspiration. This version for concert band retains all the beauty and simplicity of the original.
$115.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

The Ukrainian Bell Carol is part of a large choral work entitled Shchedryk by the Ukrainian composer Mykola Dmytrovich Leontovych (1877-1921). It was first performed by students of Kiev University in December 1916. The tune is an adaptation of an old ‘shchedrivka’, a song traditionally sung on Ukrainian New Year’s Eve (January 13th) which hopes for good fortune in the year to come. In Shchedryk, Leontovych added his own the lyrics which concern the legend claiming that when Jesus was born, all the bells on earth started ringing in his honour. The tune has since been the inspiration of at least four different Christmas carols, but Philip Sparke has sourced the originalUkrainian melody to create this stirring arrangement.

Nordanvind is a tour de force symphonic rhapsody that is built on three Scandinavian folk songs. Composer Carl Strommen has composed these Viking-influenced melodies into a concert setting that brings out all of the history of the Scandinavian people. The piece is at times bold and aggressive, at other times beautiful. Carl employs all of the instrumental colors of the concert band to create a new work for more advanced ensembles. Modern Scandinavians are descendants of the Vikings, an adventuresome people who were known for their love of the sea, their naval prowess, and as fierce fighters . The Scandinavian Vikings were warriors from Denmark, Norway, and Sweden who traded, raided and settled in various parts of Europe, Russia, the North Atlantic islands, and the northeastern coast of North America .Starting around 1850, over one million Swedes left their homeland for the United States in search of religious freedom and open farm land . Augustana College was founded in 1860 by graduates of Swedish universities and is located on the Mississippi River in Rock Island, Illinois . Home of the “Vikings,†Augustana College is the oldest Swedish- American institution of higher learning in the United States . This powerful and lively piece takes inspiration from Swedish history and from Swedish folk songs and hymns .Havsdrake (Dragon of the Sea)The Nordanvind or “North Wind†blows a cold wind during a journey of a group of courageous Viking rowers . The “Dragon-ship†or long ships designed for raiding and war was a sophisticated, fast ship able to navigate in very shallow water . To musically portray these magnificent seafaring vessels, the director is encouraged to use an Ocean Drum (or a rain stick) during the introduction . Wind players may consider blowing air through their instruments to suggest the North wind . Adding men’s voices to accompany the haunting low brass and percussive “rower†sounds can be helpful in creating the dark and ominous portrayal of Viking adventurers .Slangpolska efter Byss - KalleIn Sweden, a “polska†is a partner dance where the dancers spin each other (släng in Swedish “to sling or tossâ€) . Slangpolska efter Byss - Kalle is attributed to Byss-Kalle, who was a notable Swedish folk musician, specifically a nyckelharpa player . Slangpolska efter Byss - Kalle is a traditional “polska†dance song most often played on the Nyckelharpa or keyed fiddle and is commonly heard in pubs and at festive events throughout Sweden . Approximately 10,000 nyckelharpa players live in Sweden today, and the Swedish and the American Nyckelharpa Associations are dedicated to this Swedish National instrument . The director is encouraged to share video and audio examples of the nyckelharpa playing the original Slangpolska efter Byss - Kalle .Tryggare Kan Ingen Vara (Children of the Heavenly Father)Tryggare Kan Ingen Vara Is a traditional Swedish melody, possibly of German roots, and was believed to be arranged as a hymn by the Swedish hymn writer, Karolina Wilhelmina Sandell-Berg (1832–1903) . As a daughter of a Swedish Lutheran minister, she began writing poems as a teenager and is said to have written over 1,700 different texts . There are two different accounts as to the inspiration for this hymn . The first story is that Lina (as she was called) wrote the hymn to honor her father and to say thank you to him for raising her and protecting her . A second belief is of her witnessing the tragic death of her father . She and her father were on a boat, when a wave threw her father overboard . It was said that the profound effect of watching her father drown is what caused Lina to write the text to this hymn . Although this is a treasured song to people of Swedish descent everywhere, it speaks to all people about a father tending and nourishing his children, and protecting them from evil .SPS71FThe Augustana College Concert BandFounded in 1874, the Augustana Band program is one of the oldest continuously active collegiate band programs in the country . Students in the ensemble play a large part in choosing their music for performance, which include works from the standard repertoire, orchestral transcriptions, and the latest compositions from leading composers .Rick Jaeschke began his musical career as a clarinet player in the 1st US Army Band . He received a Bachelor of Music degree from Susquehanna University, a Masters of Music from James Madison University, and a doctorate from Columbia University in New York . He was also fortunate to study conducting with Donald Hunsburger and with Frederick Fennell .Dr . | Sonata III für Klavier Piano solo Barenreiter
Piano SKU: PA.H07957 Fur Klavier. Composed by Luboš Fišer. S...(+)
Piano SKU: PA.H07957 Fur Klavier. Composed by Luboš Fišer. Stapled. Performance score. With Text Language: Czech/German/English. Editio Baerenreiter Praha #H07957_00. Published by Editio Baerenreiter Praha (PA.H07957). ISBN 9790260104464. 31 x 23.5 cm inches. Piano Sonata No. 3 was written in 1960 during the composer's studies at HAMU (Music Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague) under Emil Hlobil. The first half of the 1960s was the period during which Fiser's musical language underwent fundamental change as he rapidly cultivated his own, distinctive style, established in Fifteen Prints after Durer's Apocalypse. This sonata thus also includes several essential traits which shift his compositional development further. The work has two movements, however, its internal structure abandons traditional form. The piece is divided into several short, mutually contrasting sections, whereby the distinctions between the adjacent parts are emphasised by the thematic and chordal treatment. These contrasts are also supported by the chosen dynamics, tempo and other expressional means. The harmony is largely based on traditional chords or their condensed form while, in certain passages, we will nevertheless come across semitone clusters or fourth chords. The melody is still chiefly diatonic; at times Fiser uses chromatic sequences. These new elements in Sonata No. 3 indicate an attempt to simplify his writing and ensure greatest transparency and impact. This endeavour became a basic characteristic of Fiser's compositions from the mid-1960s onwards.
The sonata originally bore the postscript Fantasia, which was subsequently taken out by the composer. It was first performed by Ales Bilek in 1961. The new setting for this piece is based on the single edition to date (Panton, 1967); only with regard to a few inconsistencies in the score was it necessary to consult the composer's manuscript (kept at the National Museum - Czech Museum of Music). $28.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 1 to 2 weeks

De Haske Publications #DHP 1196179-015. Published by De Haske Publications (BT.DHP-1196179-015). English-German-French-Dutch. The title of this work is based on the name of the commissioning band: Music Society Asaf (Dutch for Asaph). In the Hebrew Bible, the poet, singer and seer Asaph is in charge of the choir in the house of King David. Various psalms, including Psalm 81, which is used in this work, are attributed to him. The melody of this psalm is flanked by a march-like initial part, and the traditional klezmer melody ‘Uri Tzion’ features as a spectacular finale.
$125.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Concert Band/Harmonie/Fanfare Band - Grade 2 SKU: BT.DHP-1115068-215 Arranged by Lorenzo Bocci. Flexible 4 Series. Festive and Solemn Music. Score Only. Composed 2011. 12 pages. De Haske Publications #DHP 1115068-215. Published by De Haske Publications (BT.DHP-1115068-215). 9x12 inches. English-German-French-Dutch. The First Nowell is a traditional Christmas song that can be traced back to the 18th century. The word â??nowellâ? is in fact derived the French word for Christmas, â??noelâ?. The First Nowell is sung in Englishspeaking countries around the world, although the actual text may vary by region and local customs. The simple and beautiful melody has made this carol a Christmas favourite. Lorenzo Bocci turns the melody into an elegant flexible four-part arrangement.
The First Nowell ist ein traditionelles Weihnachtslied, das vermutlich aus dem Cornwall des 18. Jahrhunderts stammt.
$23.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Brass Band - Grade 4 SKU: BT.AMP-335-030 Composed by Philip Sparke. Ceremonial Series. March. Set (Score & Parts). Composed 2012. Anglo Music Press #AMP 335-030. Published by Anglo Music Press (BT.AMP-335-030). 9x12 inches. English-German-French-Dutch. Marcho Brioso was commissioned by The Brioso Brass, a British-style brass band from Hokkaido, Japan. They gave the first performance in January 2012.The commission was for a bright and breezy march that the band could use as their theme tune, so Marcho Brioso falls into the composer’s series of Broadway-style marches, which includes Slipstream, The Bandwagon and Jubiloso. After a short introduction a solo cornet plays the main theme, accompanied by a euphonium counter-melody. A secondary phrase from the horns and baritones leads to a tutti version of the main theme which is followed by the traditional ‘bass’ strain. A change of key heralds thetrio section, which features a cantabile melody on euphonium; this is then taken up by the full band after a short bridge passage and further change of key. This takes us back to the home key which sees a quiet staccato version of the main theme lead to a recapitulation and a short coda which brings the march to a close.
$75.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Based on the traditional Japanese tune â??Suiryo-Bushi,â? Reflections on an Old Japanese Folk Song opens with two contrasting statements of the melody - first sparsely presented by the woodwinds and then in a harmonized version played by the full band. This is followed by a lively section based on pentatonic melodies that characterize the folk tune. The following slower variation first centers around a plaintive English horn melody made up of sections of the original tune, and later presents the opening phrases of â??Suiryo-Bushiâ? against an intensely florid accompaniment. The final section is in the form of a scherzo that eventually forms the accompaniment to a final presentation of the folk tune.
