Het begin van deze fraaie mars is in mineur.Verder is de opbouw traditioneel, met een inleiding, thema, bassolo en trio. Er zijn lange melodische lijnen gebruikt. Aus gegebenem Anlass beginnt der Marsch in Moll und folgt im weiteren Verlauf der traditionellen Marschform: Einleitung, Thema, Basssolo, Trio. Besonderes Kennzeichen dieses Marsches, der technisch keine zu hohen Anforderungen stellt, sind lange melodische Linien. Ein Stück, das jedes Blasorchester einmal braucht!William Blueheart March de Rudy Böhmer est une marche (de concert ou de plein air) idéale en toute circonstance solennelle. Structurée de façon conventionnelle avec une introduction (en mineur), une ligne mélodique, un solo de basse et un trio, cette marche est techniquement peu exigeante, mais pleine de charmantes couleurs sonores.

Imagine a band far off in the distance marching towards you – the music, soft at first, becomes louder and louder, the red capes of the band swaying in the wind, getting closer and closer. It was this image that inspired Flying Colors. Famed bandmaster Arthur Delamont always programmed a march in his concerts and the hallmark of his band was their red capes. This work starts very softly with a distant snare drum beat. The trumpets enter quietly with the melody, and with each new melodic entry the music grows and intensifies to a roaring finish. This is a fresh, new take on a march and is sure to please players and audiences alike! Duration: 3:10.

2011 was a disastrous year for Japan: on March 11 the northeast of the country suffered a violent earthquake, which triggered a huge tsunami and caused massive damage to people and the environment. The ensuing problems with the nuclear reactor at Fukushima only increased the misery: a black day in the country’s history…One almost inevitable consequence of such dramatic circumstances is the particular damage suffered by the cultural arts. And so it was in Japan: various high school wind orchestras in the effected areas lost their practice rooms and/or instruments. It will take a long time before the damage suffered is repaired—and it will take great effort to overcome thepsychological effects, too. Focusing on the latter, Yutada Nishida (director of The Bandwagon radio program) asked a few composers for a simple work that could be played by many orchestras. It just so happened that the Osakan Philharmonic Winds (with whom Jan Van der Roost had conducted a concert exclusively of his own works on September 25th) had had a similar idea. This concert saw the baptism of Song of Hope. This piece immediately struck a chord with musicians and audience alike: it begins bleakly in the low register and evolves to a more open, optimistic close. La catastrophe du réacteur nucléaire de Fukushima ajouta encore ces malheurs : une période bien sombre de l’histoire du pays…Des événements aussi dramatiques ont souvent un impact négatif sur les arts culturels. Ce fut le cas au Japon : plusieurs orchestres d’harmonie des collèges des régions affectées perdirent leurs locaux de répétition et/ou leurs instruments. Il faudra beaucoup de temps pour que les choses reviennent la normale - et pour estomperles cicatrices psychologiques. S’intéressant particulièrement celles-ci, Yutada Nishida (directeur du programme radiophonique The Bandwagon) demanda quelques compositeurs d’écrire une œuvre simple pouvant être interprétée par de nombreux orchestres.Il se trouva que l’Harmonie Philharmonique d’Osaka (que Jan Van der Roost avait dirigée lors d’un concert exclusivement composé de ses œuvres, le 25 septembre) avait eu la même idée. For the opening ceremony of the fiftieth anniversary of NATO, James L. Hosay was commissioned to write a special march. The heads of state of all member states of NATO were present at this event. According to instructions, the march had to be a combination of marches in American, Western European and Eastern European style. This way, a concert march was written to outline the history of the greatest alliance ever of countries working together. Now your band and audience can experience this piece of world history in a tribute to the Alliance of the Free!Cette marche est une œuvre de commande composée spécialement par James L. Hosay pour la cérémonie d’ouverture du cinquantième anniversaire de la création de l’OTAN. Les chefs de tous les États membres de l’Alliance Nord-Atlantique étaient présents cet événement. Selon les instructions données au compositeur, l’œuvre devait combiner les différents styles des marches d’Amérique du Nord, d’Europe occidentale et d’Europe de l’Est. partir de ces éléments, James L. The excitement generated from the performance of this piece is a wonderful way to end a concert. Everest is the name of a restaurant on the 40th floor of a skyscraper in Chicago. In 2003 the composer Jacob de Haan had dinner there together with his publishers and other fellow composers. The idea of composing a march to honour the excellent cuisine, the magnificent view of the skyline and the pleasant atmosphere in the restaurant arose during the visit. The results can be heard in this delightful and unusual work. Everest is de naam van een restaurant op de veertigste verdieping van een wolkenkrabber in Chicago. Jacob de Haan liet zich daar inspireren door de voortreffelijke keuken, het magnifieke uitzicht op de skyline en de bijzonder aangenamesfeer. Dit werk is een prachtige hommage aan Chicago en aan de chef-kok van Everest.Everest ist der Name eines Restaurants im 40. Stock eines Wolkenkratzers in Chicago. Jacob de Haan ließ sich dort von der ausgezeichneten Küche, dem wundervollen Ausblick auf die Skyline und von der angenehmen Atmosphäre inspirieren und schrieb diesen Marsch. Eine Hommage an die Stadt und den Restaurantchef, wie man sie sich passender nicht vorstellen kann.
