Cityscape dates from 1992 and was composed for inclusion in an organ recital of Chicago composers as part of the Fourth Presbyterian Church's annual Festival of the Arts. The theme of that year's festival was Faces of the City. This three movement work, which depicts facets of the city, is based on a three-note descending scale (C-B-A), the opening notes of the popular song, Chicago, Chicago, that Toddlin' Town. Coincidentally, this same melodic sequence marks the beginning of OLD HUNDREDTH, and a citation of that melody occurs in the third movement. The Fourth Presbyterian Church is located on the part of North Michigan Avenue which is known as The Magnificent Mile. Each of its Sunday morning services begins with the singing of OLD HUNDREDTH, sung to the text of the Doxology. The first performance of Cityscape was played by David Schrader, to whom it is dedicated.

Commissioned for the 2017 Montréal Organ Festival, Concordia Salus: A Fantasy for Organ received its name from the motto of the city of Montréal, of which the Latin component translates as salvation through harmony. The work divides roughly into 3 sections. The first section introduces two main contrasting themes. The second section develops the main material through a series of gestures that have an improvisatory feeling--something akin to an extended cadenza. The final section of the piece recapitulates the primary thematic material through bold, triumphant, and fanfare-like statements, culminating in a tipple forte, full organ sound.Organ Duration: 8' Composed: 2017 Published by: Distributed Composer.

Sacrificium was commissioned by the St Albans International Organ Festival for what has become one of the most influential organ competitions in the world. It is a demanding 8 minute work that will challenge performers with an abundance of contrasting material whilst still leaving space for individual interpretation. Casken refers to the story of Alban who sacrificed his life to save another Christian thereby becoming the first British Martyr in his programme note and more specifically the act of exchanging cloaks and deception which led to Alban's execution. This idea of taking on a new appearance is apparent in the music as recurring themes undergo transformations, gradually becoming absorbed into new musical textures.

Olli Kortekangas (b. 1955) spent some time looking for a suitable chorale or theme after receiving a commission from Tomi Satomaa to compose a variation work for organ. It was foundsurprisingly close at hand, on his very own desk: The Partita is based on a chorale melody Kortekangas composed some years ago. The Partita has six movements performed without a break. The first presents the chorale melody itself, and the other five could be described as character pieces each based on some part of it or characteristic. The work was premiered at the Turku Organ Festival in July 2019.

Brenda Portman's understanding of the organ comes to life in her collection of ten arrangements of hymns found in the worship supplement All Creation Sings, with writing that makes use of styles and techniques characteristic of the organ. Included is a festival fanfare on Day of Delight and Beauty Unbounded (IN DIR IST FREUDE), a trio on Down Galilee's Slow Roadways (Merle's Tune), a toccata on God's Work Our Hands (Earth and All Stars), and a gospel setting of Sometimes Our Only Song Is Weeping (Wayfaring Stranger).
